Chapter 114: Contending with Loki
Screech!
At a signal from Loki, Barton slammed on the brakes, stopping in front of the Shadowkhan army.
"Let me guess: friend or foe?" Loki stood up, spreading his arms and smiling confidently.
"Friend," Silas said, emerging from the Shadowkhan army. Staring at the Scepter in Loki's hand, he continued, "As a friend, could you lend me that thing to play with?"
"Looks like a foe then," Loki chuckled, raising the Scepter and aiming it at Silas. Boom! A beam of light shot out.
Silas quickly led the Shadowkhan army into the Shadow Realm, then reappeared again right in front of Loki.
"A very nice ability," Loki said, setting his sights on Silas and deciding he wanted to turn Silas into his puppet as well.
Silas shrugged. "The Scepter is very nice. Lend it to me to play with."
With that, Silas immediately leaped up and charged toward Loki.
Loki certainly wouldn't just sit there. He jumped out of the car, dodging Silas's attack.
Barton, in the driver's seat, quickly pulled out his gun and fired at Silas. Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets rapidly flew toward Silas. Silas stabilized his stance and leaned backward, letting the bullets fly past his face.
"Agent Barton, do you know how heartbroken your cyclops boss must be about you doing this?"
Silas reached Barton, grabbed his attacking hand, yanked him out of the driver's seat, and threw him onto the grassy patch nearby.
Just as Barton tried to stand up, a dozen Shadowkhan ninjas appeared, stepping on him and pinning him down completely.
"Clap, clap, clap! Very impressive. But is that why you dare to challenge a god, mortal!" Loki used the Scepter to fire another beam of light.
This time, Silas didn't dodge. The energy in his eyes was already primed. Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle—a laser beam shot out from his eyes.
Boom! The two energy forces collided, generating a massive energy riot that blew the grass on the ground.
"Don't try to run away in the chaos, Mr. Loki," Silas drew a blade from the Shadow Realm and rushed at Loki.
Clang!
Loki swung the Scepter and blocked Silas's attack.
"You dare to challenge a god," Loki said.
Silas kicked Loki in the waist, separating the two, and said, "Gods don't seem that impressive."
"You mortal will never understand the power of a god," Loki flung his left hand out, and an energy ball flew toward Silas.
Silas fired his laser beam eyes. Boom! The beam sliced through the energy ball.
"Time to end this," Silas had already marked Loki's shadow. He appeared behind Loki via the Shadow Realm.
Bang! Loki was scattered by a kick from Silas.
"A fake?" Silas frowned. Then he looked back and saw that Barton, who was under the Shadowkhan ninjas' feet, had also vanished.
Only the car, the Scepter, and the briefcase were left at the scene. Silas knew without thinking that these two objects were also fake. He drew a line with his right hand, and a row of throwing stars appeared in his grip. Bang! Bang! The throwing stars hit the Scepter and the briefcase. Unsurprisingly, they were all illusions.
"When did he run away..." Silas almost forgot that Loki was also a sorcerer, a sorcerer who knew how to use misdirection.
Scanning the surroundings, Silas waved his hand, and he and the Shadowkhan army disappeared. There was no value in staying here anymore.
Silas remembered that Loki would later go to Germany and fight with the outdated soldier, Captain America, Steve Rogers.
"I hope my appearance doesn't make him change his plans," Silas thought, emerging from the Shadow Realm and returning to his room.
At this time, Peter and Klein were still in Hell's Kitchen. He had managed to excuse himself by giving them a plausible reason to leave.
"Master," a voice entered Silas's ear.
Silas's eyes widened instantly. He turned around and saw that it was Little Black! Little Black had just spoken!
"Master, this is the voice simulator I created. It can express what I want to say based on my body movements," Little Black demonstrated with gestures.
At Little Black's neck was a black ring the size of a thumb, and the voice came from there.
"That's great, Little Black," Silas said. He hadn't expected Little Black to create something like this for him.
"I wanted to give Master a surprise," Little Black explained.
Silas carefully examined Little Black's voice device. "Can this thing be mass-produced?"
Although the Shadowkhan army could convey their thoughts directly to Silas, it was somewhat cumbersome, and besides their Master, Silas, they could only communicate with others through sign language. Now that Little Black had created this device, they could better play the role of the villain.
"Not yet. Many parts still need improvement, and the required materials are quite complex. It takes about half a month to produce one," Little Black said.
The voice emitter wasn't as simple as just making sound. It had to interpret the wearer's actions to understand the meaning they wanted to convey. The reason Little Black used it so smoothly was that the voice commands were set by himself. Which action corresponded to which sound was a program he had already compiled.
"I see. In that case, forget it for now." Silas had been thinking of equipping all the Shadowkhan army with it, but now it seemed impossible.
"How is Big Black doing?" Silas asked.
Little Black smiled. "He has been resurrected 25 times, and not a single one has been missed."
"Mhm. When he resurrects again, stop killing him. After this lesson, I believe his brain will be a little brighter." Silas figured Big Black had been reborn so many times that his brain must have been reset just as many times. He shouldn't be so stupid now.
"I think, Master, that Big Black needs to go through 81 resurrections before he can be truly purified," Little Black suggested.
Silas was surprised to hear Little Black being so dark, but the idea seemed interesting...
"Forget it. If he makes a mistake next time, it won't be too late to punish him then," Silas ultimately dismissed the idea.
Little Black nodded, feeling a bit disappointed that the Master had almost agreed.
Silas naturally noticed Little Black's disappointment. "Don't worry. With Big Black's brain, he might go right back in the moment he comes out, you know?"
"Master is right. I will return now. There is still a piece of technology left unfinished," Little Black slowly retreated and entered the Shadow Realm.
Silas stared at the spot where Little Black disappeared, beginning to think about his next plan. He definitely needed to acquire the Infinity Stones. Why would he pass up anything that could enhance his strength?
Loki came to Earth this time with two Stones: the Mind Stone and the Space Stone. According to the original plot development, the Mind Stone would be acquired by Hydra, who would later create the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Vision, while the Space Stone would be taken back to Asgard by Thor.
