Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: The Green Goblin Returns

"Alright, everyone, eat up," Aunt May said, taking her seat.

As time passed, the dinner table was cleared, thanks mainly to Silas and Peter. The two usually controlled their portions, but today they ate heartily, managing to finish the entire meal; otherwise, there would certainly have been leftovers.

"You two must have been starving..." Ben Parker said in disbelief.

"Of course. I didn't even get a chance to eat lunch before I was lying in a medical tent," Silas said truthfully. Combined with the energy expended during the fight with the Green Goblin, he was famished.

"Alright, Peter, take Silas back to your room. We'll clean up here," Ben Parker said, helping Aunt May clear the table.

Peter slowly helped Silas up the stairs and back into their room.

Peter had just settled Silas onto the bed when he started to leave. Silas quickly grabbed his hand.

"What is it, Silas?" Peter turned back, confused.

Silas motioned for Peter to sit down. Once Peter sat, Silas asked, "Are you planning to leave right now?"

"Yeah. There's no time to waste, Silas. I have to go save our friends. Don't worry! I'll get Misty out!" Peter knew how close Silas and Misty were and assumed Silas was stopping him out of concern for her.

"Thank you, but I stopped you because of this: if Uncle Ben comes up right now, how are we going to explain your absence?" Silas pointed out. Peter hadn't even left the room. They couldn't exactly say Peter had jumped out the window to become Spider-Man.

"But..." Peter also realized this problem. He sank onto Silas's bed, deflated. "They need our help."

"Help is essential! But not right now. We need to wait," Silas said, gesturing outside. "It's still early, and the sun hasn't completely set yet. Uncle Ben will definitely come up to check on us."

"What if we miss the chance?" Peter worried, thinking Ned might be calling for help right now.

Silas patted Peter's shoulder. "I'm just as worried as you are; Misty is buried in there, too. But Peter, remember, now is not the time to be reckless."

"Maybe I should just tell Uncle Ben that I'm Spider-Man," Peter said, choosing his friends over keeping his identity secret.

Silas heard this and smiled. That was definitely the choice Spider-Man would make. He lowered his hand and said, "Go, Peter. I'll cover for you here."

"Thank you!" Peter climbed out of Silas's window and into his own room.

Silas couldn't help but mutter, "Couldn't he just use the door, instead of the window?"

A short while later, Peter, in his costume, appeared at Silas's window. "Don't worry, Silas, I've got this. I'm leaving it to you here." With that, he swung away using a web.

"Be that as it may, I'm sorry, Peter, but I have to sell you out." Silas summoned Big Black.

Big Black now looked exactly like Silas, a result of the disguise technique Silas had learned recently, combined with the ninja's natural abilities. Anyone who wasn't looking closely wouldn't realize it wasn't Silas.

"I'm leaving this to you," Silas instructed.

Big Black confidently patted his chest, signaling that he would complete the mission.

Silas nodded in satisfaction. Two Shadowkhan appeared on either side of him, holding a chair. Silas sat in the chair, and together with the two Shadowkhan, he descended into the Shadow Realm.

As soon as Silas was gone, Big Black casually lay down on the bed, crossed his legs, picked up Silas's handheld game console from the bedside table, and started playing.

Big Black was happily playing when a hand suddenly snatched the game console away. Big Black furiously tried to sit up to see which idiot was messing with him, but before he could look up, he saw Little Black hovering above his head. Little Black held the game console in his left hand and a long sword in his right, which he placed next to Big Black's neck.

Big Black immediately raised his hands in surrender. I give up.

Little Black stared sternly at Big Black. Focus on the task the Master gave you. Do not play games, or I will send you back home.

Big Black quickly closed his eyes, pulled the blanket over himself, and pretended to sleep, executing the whole sequence flawlessly. Little Black, seeing Big Black behave, put away his sword and returned to the Shadow Realm, temporarily confiscating the game console.

Oscorp Group

Norman woke up! He shook his head, covering it with his hand as he slowly got up. People standing nearby immediately tried to help him. Unexpectedly, Norman instinctively pushed out with both hands, effortlessly sending the surrounding people flying to the side.

"Success!" The staff monitoring the data shouted excitedly. Norman's awakening meant the experiment had truly succeeded.

Norman stumbled toward the console. As he passed the area where the pumpkin bombs were stored, he casually picked one up. No one noticed the flicker of green in Norman's eyes, followed by a malicious look on his face. "Yes! It succeeded. Too bad no one is left to share this joy with me."

"Boss, what about us?" a subordinate asked, confused.

Norman looked at the subordinate with fierce eyes. "A bunch of dead men? Do they need joy?"

"What do you mean! Norman! Are you trying to burn your bridges?"

Slap!

A shareholder involved in the project, who was sitting on a chair, stood up and angrily chastised Norman. The project was supported by several shareholders; otherwise, Norman would have been overthrown long ago. Norman had originally deceived them, promising the experiment's success would benefit their profits. Now, it looked like Norman wanted to go back on his word.

"What do I mean? Come on, was I not clear enough?" Norman noticed the bulge at the shareholder's waist and slowly moved toward the experiment table.

As expected, upon hearing this, the shareholder immediately pulled out a gun and shouted, "Norman! Don't think that just because you've gained great strength you've become Superman! You can't take a bullet from me."

The subordinates nearby were completely lost; they were just ordinary people who helped Norman with the experiment. Both the shareholder and Norman were essentially their bosses, and for a moment, they didn't know whose side to take.

"You men! Grab Norman! Don't forget, he wants to kill you all!" the shareholder shouted. These people are truly idiots, he thought. Norman was about to kill them, and they were still debating who to help.

After the shareholder finished speaking, everyone prepared themselves and started moving toward Norman, trying to restrain him.

"This body... it's absolutely fantastic," Norman said. Without waiting for the staff to act, he impatiently attacked first.

He easily kicked the nearest person away, extended his right hand, grabbed another attacking staff member, and twisted hard.

"Ah!" The staff member's bones snapped instantly, and he collapsed to the ground in pain.

Norman kicked the injured man aside. For a moment, no one dared to move again.

"Don't move, or I'll shoot," the shareholder stepped forward and warned. Watching Norman's display only fueled his desire; if he could just inject that serum, he would possess this power too.

"Shh~ Here's a pumpkin for you. Hope you like it," Norman said, pulling the pin on the pumpkin bomb, throwing it at the shareholder, and quickly diving behind the experiment table.

BOOM! A massive explosion erupted in the underground laboratory of the Oscorp Group!
