"I have another candidate in mind, but I'm not sure if he's currently in the village."
"Nawaki, come here."
Tsunade seemed to be thinking about something—then suddenly shouted, scaring the two boys who were slacking off.
Nawaki thought he'd been caught goofing around. He quickly handed his wooden sword to Minato and jogged toward his sister with a guilty smile.
"What's wrong?"
"Is your teacher in the village right now?"
The person Tsunade was referring to was Orochimaru, one of the Third Hokage's most outstanding pupils.
Orochimaru not only learned ninjutsu rapidly from his teacher, but also had the ability to apply that knowledge flexibly in other areas.
Calling him a genius was no exaggeration.
Chuanfeng's eyes lit up instantly. He had actually forgotten about such a major figure.
"Teacher said he'll be back tomorrow and will be staying for a while."
Nawaki answered honestly. One was his sister, and the other was his future brother-in-law—nothing to hide.
"Then let's visit your teacher together tomorrow."
Tsunade concluded.
"He'll definitely be happy."
"He even said my brother's horseback posture is amazing, and his swordsmanship is amazing too."
"If there's a chance, I'll visit the Hatake family myself."
Nawaki was both relieved—since his slacking had gone unnoticed—and happy, because these people were his closest companions.
That kind of bond was something to celebrate.
"Really? Your teacher has good taste."
Chuanfeng praised Orochimaru while shamelessly praising himself at the same time.
"Alright, go continue training."
Use and discard—that was a principle Chuanfeng and Tsunade quickly learned to follow.
Nawaki received a bonk on the head and jolted. Only then did he realize his sister had, in fact, seen him slacking.
At that moment, Sakumo and Naoko returned, with the ghost mastiff trailing behind them, looking lifeless.
When the couple saw Chuanfeng, their eyes lit up with relief. Whether his training succeeded wasn't important—he was safe, and that was what mattered.
Chuanfeng sat down at the stone table with the ghost mastiff.
"Did that ghost mastiff get bitten?"
He asked immediately, and the malicious curiosity in his tone made the ghost mastiff glare at him.
I swear I'm going to bite this bastard to death.
"No," Naoko said, "your big brother and I brought him back for breeding."
"Ghost mastiffs are one of the rare aggressive breeds of the Inuzuka clan."
Chuanfeng looked at the half-dead dog and figured it must've taken a serious beating.
"How did your sage training go?"
Sakumo, relieved Chuanfeng was safe, became curious about his progress.
"I mastered it in a day. I'm a genius. Why didn't you call big brother to celebrate?"
Tsunade spat out her tea and burst into laughter.
"Unless you really piss me off, I'd never let you go, right?"
"Come on, brat. Fight me."
For years, Sakumo had used his "big brother" status to suppress Chuanfeng. There was no way he'd ever acknowledge him as "big brother" in return—doing so would strip him of the last leaf of dignity.
After finishing his tea, Sakumo grabbed Chuanfeng by the collar and dragged him to the center of the dojo.
"Are they always like this?"
Tsunade tapped her temple, trying to recover from the shock.
Naoko sighed. She had seen this spectacle so many times that she was completely used to it.
"At first I really wondered if the Hatake family had a history of mental illness."
"They're brothers who rely on fighting each other to survive," she explained.
Tsunade glanced around the luxurious estate and the spacious training grounds.
This is what they call 'living together'?
This is a two-man palace.
"Oh."
Thousands of words compressed into a single syllable.
She had no interest in the two men slashing at each other with swords.
By the time she and Naoko sat down and finished two cups of tea, Chuanfeng was already back.
Predictably, stopping Chuanfeng from leaving was Sakumo's impossible dream—but refusing to call him "big brother" was Chuanfeng's absolute bottom line.
Once Chuanfeng took his seat, Sakumo returned and sat as well.
He snorted in displeasure. "Am I not worthy of being your big brother?"
What a shameless jerk.
After the farce ended, everyone resumed chatting.
Sakumo gradually calmed down. He finally thought it through—being mad at Chuanfeng wouldn't kill him, even if he had nine lives.
~~~~~Dividing Line~~~~~
The next morning.
Chuanfeng carried a fine sword crafted by the Hatake weapons forge, and Minato followed behind him.
They met up with Tsunade and Nawaki at the Senju estate, then headed together to visit Orochimaru.
"Orochimaru has returned to the village already. What about Jiraiya?"
Chuanfeng suddenly remembered the perverted sage. He had stolen Kato Dan's future fiancée, so he felt no guilt at all.
"He went to Mount Myoboku for training."
"That should be his attempt to learn immortal techniques."
The Third Hokage's three pupils still maintained a strong bond, so it was normal for Tsunade to know Jiraiya's whereabouts.
"I doubt it will be easy for him."
Chuanfeng knew Jiraiya might have taken nearly ten years to properly master sage mode—and people considered Jiraiya a hard-working ninja.
"He's the most hardworking ninja I've ever met."
That was incredibly high praise coming from Tsunade. Jiraiya came from a civilian background with no exceptional talent, but she could clearly see how much effort he put into everything.
It was just that Jiraiya really wasn't compatible with her temperament right now—otherwise Chuanfeng wouldn't have all these problems.
While they were talking, Chuanfeng noticed a cat pounce toward him.
What a fat cat. And covered in gold and silver ornaments. Which rich lady in Konoha owns this thing?
He grabbed the cat by the scruff, intercepting its fate.
But then he felt another hand reach toward his, then immediately retract.
Fast!
Chuanfeng looked up.
A young man wearing a green jumpsuit with shiny black bowl-cut hair stood before him.
"Genin Might D reporting to Lady Tsunade!"
So it was the father of the future Hokage— the first man to master the Eight Gates Formation.
"Hello."
Tsunade clearly didn't know him, as he was still doing low-level missions. She only replied out of courtesy.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Hatake Kaede."
Chuanfeng, however, found him very interesting.
"H-hello."
Might D was only a genin. No one had ever treated him with such respect. And clearly, Chuanfeng's lineage was extraordinary.
He answered shyly.
"You were trying to catch this cat, right?"
Chuanfeng handed him the fat feline.
"Thank you, Master Chuanfeng."
Might D accepted the cat and turned to leave, never expecting anyone to help him.
"Wait. I saw you running earlier. You must be good at physical training."
Chuanfeng knew the answer already. If someone wasn't good at taijutsu, how could they possibly train the Eight Inner Gates?
"Yes, sir!"
D flashed his brilliant white teeth in a pure, innocent smile.
"With that level of strength, why are you still doing genin missions?"
Chuanfeng truly found it strange. A man capable of opening the Eight Gates—someone who nearly wiped out the Seven Ninja Swordsmen by himself—was still a genin?
"I only know taijutsu, so I can't pass the chunin exams."
Konoha's promotion system was still very strict, and civilians without the proper qualifications rarely got the opportunity to advance.
If the Might family were a clan, he would've been promoted long ago.
"I see. I'll do what I can to help you."
"Let's be friends. Come visit the Hatake estate sometime."
Chuanfeng didn't mind helping Might D. He was a very reliable potential ally.
"Then thank you very much!"
"May youth shine forever!"
D flashed a thumbs-up and another shining smile.
Truly worthy of being the father of Might Guy.
Nawaki and Minato were stunned by the scene.This strange man seemed surprisingly favored by their big brother—by their teacher.
