Chapter 6 - I Will Never Be Your Wife

The priest instructed they begin sharing the wedding vows.

Ian began first, Celine knew his vows were a hand written speech because the emotions he tried to convey were something she knew for sure he didn't actually feel.

"I know love at first sight is something many people don't believe in, I didn't either until I set eyes on you for the first time. I've written hundreds of love songs, I've depicted this powerful emotion so many times but I'd never truly felt the desire to make another person happy like I felt with you.

Your smile mattered to me more than anything, and if you asked for it I would have laid down my life for you, that was how hard I'd fallen for you. I don't just want to keep you by my side forever, I want to give you everything you could ever wish for and more, I want to give you lovely children. I don't think the word love is enough to convey what I feel for you Celine, I want you to be my other half in this life and every other I get an opportunity to live again.

I promise I'll always love you even when your hair turns grey, Celine Roberts, I pledge my love and loyalty to you for the rest of my life. To have and to hold, in sickness and in wealth, through fame and fortune, till death do us part."

He spoke every word in a love sincere voice that the moment he stopped speaking, Celine could hear gasps and soft envious sighs coming from the guests.

His vows were capable of melting even the coldest hearts, anyone who heard it wanted to scream their lungs outs, they had never seen a man love a woman this deeply, never seen a man show this much emotion. It elicited envy and awe from everyone.

Yes, it was this way of smooth talking with emotion that had won Celine over right from the start. Now that she knew his true face, she realized he was a skilled manipulator with his sweet words.

She was certain if she hadn't discovered him cheating, tears would be falling down her face right now and she would think herself as the luckiest woman alive for falling for a man like him.

She hadn't just been blind, but he had used the image of a perfect romance to blindfold her so she wouldn't see anything else.

He truly was despicable.

Celine felt the hatred in her heart grow, his sweet words of eternal vows had further fuelled her hatred for him.

How can a man make such promises wth such earnest looking eyes and sincere voice when he was a disgusting scum on the inside.

Celine could already tell that he would specifically have the moment he was saying his vows recorded and posted online, it would spread and go viral reaching every corner of the world. His female fans would go crazy for him and those who didn't know him would flock in to worship him.

As he reached the end of his vows, Celine began to feel the anxiety creep into her again. Her heart thumped fast and she clenched her fist tightly.

She imagined a far off future with him, a future she would have to live with him as his wife, even bear his children.

She would be miserable, she didn't love this cheating man, but she would have his kids and be forced to spend her life with him.

What kind of life would her future children have with a father like this and an unhappy mother?

Turmoil made her mind race rapidly, several thoughts flooding in at once. Her breathing began to come heavy and she felt a heavy weight in her chest she couldn't forcefully swallow.

In that single moment of panic, an image suddenly fleeted into her mind.

Fiery hazel eyes watching her from the shadows with a keen intense gaze that seemed to bore into her, stripping all her emotions bare.

That handsome stranger she'd glimpsed in the shadows earlier.

For some reason, those cold eyes on the man remained fixed in her head as she drew all her chaotic thoughts to a halt, a strange urge suddenly began to well up inside her, a kind of urge she wouldn't have entertained.

But she clamped down logic and whatever would convince her from swaying away from that thought.

The only thing she let ring in her mind was the fact that she didn't want this marriage.

Even if her father disowned her, even if she lost the favor of her family which she'd always longed for, she wouldn't marry this awful man.

"May the bride please proceed with her wedding vows." Following the priest's words came a strange silence from everyone, undoubtedly anticipating a sweet heartfelt vow from the bride.

However, seconds ticked by and the bride didn't move or utter a single word.

The priest repeated himself once more and was again met with the same stillness from the bride.

"Celine, sweetheart, say your vows now." Ian seemed to have sensed something wrong, he urged her in a sweet voice.

Celine still didn't say a word as if her lips were sealed shut.

She would rather devour poison than pledge her whole life to this disgusting scum of a man.

"Sweetie, there's no time. Say your vows and we'll be one, you will officially become my wife." Ian called again, the sweetness in his voice seemed to come out with a forced hardness he tried to conceal with a smile, but evidently there was a hint of dread on his face as he watched the stubborn glint that was beginning to shine in those blue eyes.

She wouldn't dare, she knew what she stood to lose. She wouldn't dare refuse to marry him when she had already marched down the aisle.

Realizing the crowd was beginning to murmur suspiciously, his gaze hardened.

He showed a fake smile to the guests then turned to her with strict eyes blocking the mic attached to his tuxedo so the crowd wouldn't hear what he said to her quietly.

"Celine don't play games, say your fucking vows now!!!" He ordered threateningly and she finally moved, he saw her lips part to speak and breathed a sigh in relief.

It seemed he had worried for nothing, she wouldn't dare do anything stupid.

However his confident relief was shattered the moment the words she spoke entered his ears.

"Go to hell, I will never be your wife!"
