Rain's POV:
He just stands there, completely still, as if the ground beneath his boots has swallowed him whole and rooted him in place.
His gaze is fixed on the floor, not skimming it or glancing down, but pinned there in stunned disbelief, like if he dares to look up the truth will solidify into something he cannot undo. The air between us feels thick, almost humid with everything unsaid, and it's strange how we can both be standing in the same room, breathing the same air, yet feel oceans apart. It's almost funny in a cruel, twisted way, how we seem to be on the exact same page emotionally, reading the same lines of grief and fear, and yet somehow existing in entirely different worlds.
His blue eyes are glossy, blurred with unshed tears that cling stubbornly to his lashes, refusing to fall.
