Ryuji lost in thoughts as he remembers his favorite type.
'Dragon or Dinosaur? If this is 5D era then I would have choose machine, after all T.G. is my first deck. If it's most suitable for my current need then that most likely be 2 low rank xyz monster. Good dragon xyz most have high rank; I don't I could afford a suitable deck to use them in early stage. Dino don't have much xyz monster but most of them are powerful like Grenosaurus or Evolzar.'
Ryuji wonder for a moment before ultimately choose Dinosaur.
*Ding* Current randomly choosing suitable spirit for the user...

'You know, even a dog won't believe this shit is random. I bet 20$ that if I choose Dragon, you will give me two other Evolzar.' Ryuji silent complain before going back to his room under Dextra reluctant gaze.
'Mr.heartland could come at any moment, so I just have to wait. During that time, I should start built my own deck first.' Ryuji thought as he takes two Evolzar from the screen. A corner of his mouth slowly curves up as he feels two pairs of eyes looking back at him.
"Please took care of me from now on partner."

3rd POV:
"Everyone gets in place!" The manager of the orphanage commands the children to line up orderly. "Today Mr.Heartland will come to our orphanage to pick up suitable children for training to become a duelist under his company. If you guys want to become a professional duelist then you have to grab this opportunity to show you are worth the effort got it?"
After the manager end his speech, the whole orphanage becomes noisy from the children excited shouting and muttering.
Just then a black fancy card stops at the orphanage gate and Mr.Heartland come out under his bodyguard escort. He set his eyes on every child, when he lay his eyes on a boy with black hair and a golden eye, he suddenly froze, he feels not one, not two, but three pairs of eyes looking at him.
'A duel spirit! Two duel spirit choosing him at this age!' Mr.Heartland can't help but feel excitement from an unexpected treasure falls from the sky. 'This child talent may not be worse than Kaito.'
'Did he see my spirit?' Ryuji feel suspect from Mr.Heartland expression when he looks at him, but he then remembers he have Number 1 in his deck so that normal.
Mr.Heartland go before everyone and give his speech. "Hello everyone, it's nice to meet all of you. I think you all know what's my purpose of coming here today so let me get straight to the point."
As he speaks, he snaps his finger and the bodyguard behind him step forward with a duel disk in their hand.
Mr.Heartland continue "My academy only need elite among elite so to get inside you have to show your worth. You'll have to duel one of my bodyguards to be chosen but their deck won't be too powerful, we will not use xyz summon and I will provide you all with new cards to use. Take your time to prepare but remember you only have one chance. Keep in mind that the winner will have a chance to get a free xyz monster." After he end his speech, the bodyguard bought out five suitcases. Each contain monster, spell or trap cards.
Ryuji look blankly at the suitcases as the children run over them 'So I spent all my savings to build this third-rate deck, and now you are telling me you provide cards for free!?' He feels like crying.
Just then he feels someone pull on his shirt, he looks back and see Dextra look at him shyly.
"Um...you aren't going?" She asks cautious fearing she may annoyed him.
"Tch! I still don't get why you care so much about him." Nistro say with jealous as he glares at Ryuji but he doesn't show any hate or malice, just pure jealously.
" Oh, I just daze for a moment, let's go." He then goes along side Dextra and Nistro.
As the three get closer to the suitcases, Ryuji separate from the two and go to the suitcases that containe spell cards.
Sigh...'If not because the kids are all surrounded the monster suitcases then I would have go with them.' Since his last life he already understands a universal truth. Only children can compete with children in snatching toys. 'I hope their have enough copy of Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity.'
Ryuji start searching and soon find all three copy of two cards and some other useful cards like Card of Compensation, Foolish Burial, Trap Booster and even Cold Wave... The suddenly he froze on the spot as he held two cards in his hand.
'I was about to give up since I can't find Monster Reborn or Change of Heart but wow, just wow, when see these two I still can't understand why Konami have a sense to create them in the first place.' Ryuji thought in excited, the two cards in his hand are 'Last Will' and 'Dimension Fusion'.
'Yep, I cook the verse with this deck.' Ryuji quickly find some other cards and found some trap cards to add to his deck. Let's just say it's full of hole, mirror, order and judgment.
After adding many spells and trap card to his deck, Ryuji finally go to fill his monster slot and meet up with Dextra and Nistro who still choosing cards for their Butterfly and Heroic Champion deck.
'I already have Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest, Sabersaurus and Megalosmasher X for 4 stars normal dinosaur monster. I just need Rescue Rabbit to complete my deck.'
After finding for a while, he was able to find two copies of Rescue Rabbit, one copy of Rescue Cat.
Ryuji continue searching for some other dinosaur cards like 'Gilasaurus' or 'Giant Rex'.
Suddenly Nistro call out for him impatiently. "Hey Ryuji! Are you done or not? Half of them already finished the duel. If you do not come quickly then we will go first."
"Alright I'm done, let's go." Ryuji say as he looks at the final cards he takes from the suitcases 'I try to find other cards of this series but look like their only have this one. But that ok, now I know it's existed, let's try to complete this series when I have time.' He then put the card in his pocket and go after Nistro and Dextra.
"Is there anyone complete the test yet?" Ryuji ask curiously.
"Only me and Dextra have pass the test, all the other fail." Nistro stop for a moment and took a deep look at Ryuji "Don't fail, Dextra will be sad if you do." After that Nistro go to the side of Dextra to watch the remaining battle.

As Ryuji go to the duel field, he sees a kid crying and run over his friends for comfort. He looks around and sees others with similar sad face or mocking face at the boy.
He look ahead and see only one bodyguard remaining. The bodyguard look at Ryuji and spoke indifferent "You are the last one here. Let's make this quick."
Just as the bodyguard about to activate his duel disk, Mr.Heartland call him over and hand him a full deck to him "Make sure that kid give everything he had." The bodyguard quickly check the new deck he has received and nod without any questions, he only here to obey not question.
After the command, Mr.Heartland go back to the side to watch the duel and to see if Ryuji talent can truly compare to Kaito.
'That kid spirit definitely not a Number monster, if it's then my Number 1 already feel it from far away no need for me to come close to him, but the feeling that two spirit of his give me is only slightly weaker than my ace. Truly worth looking forward to.'

'Deep breath me, although this is the first time you duel but don't get too excited. You have to learn to aura farming, at least on Kaiba level.' Ryuji think as he tries to calm himself.

"You can go first." The bodyguard says indifferent.
"Then I won't be polite, draw!" 'The feeling to draw in first turn is simply too amazing.' Ryuji quickly look at his hand and start setup his board.
"I activate Graceful Charity, this card let me draw 3 cards and send 2 cards in hand to the graveyard." He quickly draws three card and send 2 to the graveyard.
"I activate Sangan ability, if this is sent to the graveyard, I can take 1 card with 1500 atk or lower in my deck to my hand. I choose Rescue Rabbit! Then I normal summon Rescue Rabbit and activate it effects, I can banish this face-up card I control, special summon 2 level 4 or lower normal monster with the same name from my deck."
Ryuji take two cards from his deck and put them on his duel disk." I summon 2 Megalosmasher X from my deck in attack position."

The children gasp in surprised at how easy Ryuji can summon two 2000 atk monster on the field. Well, they're still a kid after all.

Ryuji look at Dextra in surprised. Then he sees her look at him with sparkling eyes.
'Ryuji look so cool on the field, when all the attention are on him, he can still stand confident despite all that. Just like when we first met...' Dextra can't help but fell into her old memories.

'Ugh, how annoyed, turn off the notification. Only show when I want.' Ryuji thought in annoyed before focus back to the duel.
"Then I set 4 cards. I end my turn."
A1: "Then it's my turn, draw! When opponent controls a monster and I control none, I can special summon this card from my hand, Cyber Dragon."

'Cyber Dragon!?' Ryuji's eyes instantly light up when he looks at the monster on the field. 'Just look at you remind me of our time together old friend. Seriously, who don't have at least one Cyber Dragon in their deck during Goat Format.'
"I summon one monster face down. Then I activate Heavy Storm to destroy every spell and trap card on the field! All four of your set cards will be destroy!"
"Not so fast uncle, I activate my trap card Judgment of Anubis, when my opponent activates a spell card that will destroy my spell or trap card, I can activate this card by discard one card, negate and destroy that card. After that I can target one monster on your field, destroy that monster and inflicted the same amount of atk that monster have to you, I choose to destroy Cyber Dragon."
The raging storm that about to destroy Ryuji set card suddenly stop and got absorb by an Anubis statue, it opens it glowing eyes and shoot a red beam to Cyber Dragon direction and explode. A large amount of smoke covers the entire field.

"Tch! I set 2 cards and end my turn." A1 slightly adjust his glasses as he started to feel a bit pressure from the child opposite him.
"Draw!, I set one monster face down and enter battle phase. I use the first Megalosmasher X to attack your set monster."
"Hold it! I activate Negate Attack! When opponent monster declares an attack, negate that attack and end the battle phase."
"Activate counter trap card Solemn Judgement, pay half of my life point to negate your trap card and destroy it."

"Annoyed brat, then I activate my second trap card Dark Bribe! You get to draw one card, but I can negate and destroy your Solemn Judgement. Begone!"
Ryuji silently draw a new card, and his battle phase forcefully end.
"I end my turn."
"My turn, draw! I activate Pot of Greed; I can draw two cards from my deck." A1 take a look at the cards he draws, and a grin appear on his lip. "I summon X-Head Cannon in attack position, then activate Double Summon, this turn I can normal summon another time, come ford Y-Dragon Head."

Two monsters appear on the field, one cyborg with blue armor and two lazer gun on it shouder, the other is a red robot dragon.
Ryuji:'Huh? Doesn't this xyz era? How is two fusion era cards exist here? They are out meta.'
X-Head Cannon:'You dare to look down on us? Remember we're the first xyz monsters to ever exist!'
Ryuji:'So that how you want to play huh? Banned xyz summon but use fusion instead.'
"Now witness the combine of my-" before he can say anything more, Ryuji directly cut him off.
"I activate quick spell Book of Moon, change one face up monster to face down defend position. I target X-Head Cannon, no contact fusion for you."
A1 look at Ryuji with a grin on his face. "If you think this gonna stop me then you're wrong, that just a distraction, now witness my true ace! I changed the monster I set from the beginning to face up attack position, Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast. This card can be directly normal summon/set without tribute but then it atk and def are halves."

A1 continue "Then I activate Megamorph, equip it to Fusilier Dragon, when my LP is lower than my opponent my monster atk become double it original atk. Although Fusilier Dragon current atk is only 1400 but it original atk is 2800 so the final atk it has will be-

"5600 atk! Isn't this too much?" Nistro can't help but complain as his and Dextra test only have 2500 atk monster at max.
"Ryuji have two monsters in attack position and his LP is only 2000, if he get attack now he will lose." Dextra said worried for her crush.
'If it truly ends here then that's a disappointed, show me more than that Ryuji.' Mr.Heartland think in his mind.
A1 don't hesitate and directly order "I use my Fusilier Dragon to attack your Megalosmasher X, you will take 3600 LP, duel over!"
A huge energy beam from the machine dragon shoot directly to one of two Megalosmasher X on the field and the huge explosion create a large amount of smoke cover the entire field.
'Is it over?' Everyone presents think at the same time.
As the smoke fade away both Megalosmasher still stand on the field not one missing.
[Ryuji, LP: 2000]
"What!? Impossible! How can your monster not be destroying by my attack?" A1 shout in disbelief.
"I activate the last set card on my field Waboku, this turn my monster won't be destroy by battle and I take no battle damage." Ryuji said calmly.
"Tch! Then I use Y-Dragon Head to attack your face-down monster!" Although he can't destroy Ryuji monster but he wants to see what card he set down.
As the energy ray from the dragon head hit the set card, the card automatic flip up and revealed itself.
[Magician of Faith, def: 400]
"Magician of Faith effects activate. When this card is flip, I can add 1 spell card from my graveyard to my hand." Ryuji take one card out of his graveyard and show it to A1 "The card I choose is Book of Moon."
A1 froze as he knows he will most likely to lost all his monster this turn, Ryuji can activate it to change his Fusilier Dragon to face-down defend position, because he has summon it without tribute so it def was only 1000, he just need to summon one more 1000+ atk monster to clear all three monster on his field.
"Since you have no card left then it's now my turn, draw!"
"I tribute Magician of Faith in my field to summon Dark Driceratops in attack position."

"Then I activate Book of Moon to change your Fusilier Dragon to face-down defend position. I enter "
*Clap clap clap*
Before Ryuji can declare his attack, a round of applause interrupts him. Everyone presents turn their head to look at where the sound come from only to see Mr.Heartland standing there with calm smile on his face.
"Such an amazing battle Ryuji, with what you show until it's more than enough for you to enter the academy like your friends, with just a little more time and effort you can get the highest level of sponsor from me, after we need more time to understand each other." Mr.Heartland was more than willing to support Ryuji but he wants to satisfy his curious a little so he says those words hoping Ryuji would understand his meaning.
And Ryuji of course understand what he truly wants to say. 'If you want to get more from me then show me everything you got, whether you hide it or not I will still know in the future, but I hope there's some straightforward between us.'
Ryuji felt into deep thoughts as he thinks of Mr.Heartland offer. 'Show it or hide it?'
*Sign*'Fuck it, the only thing I want to hide is that I have a spirit, but he knows it already, I doubt this maniac will be interested in non-Number card.' With that in mind, Ryuji take one card from his hand and put it in his duel disk.
"I activate Last Will from my hand, if a monster was sent from my field to the graveyard during this turn, I can special summon one monster with atk equal or less than 1500. I choose 300 atk Rescue Rabbit from my deck." After his voice end, a familiar rabbit jump from his deck to the field.
"All of must know what happen next, I activate Rescue Rabbit effect to banish it and special summon two 4 stars or lower normal monster with the same name from my deck to my field, I special summon two Sabersaurus."

"Great! Now Ryuji will definitely take the win!" Nistro say happily as he doesn't have to worry about Ryuji fail to go to the academy with him and Dextra anymore.
Dextra on his side also have a happy look but she can't have but wonder 'Isn't this a little unnecessary? If I remember correctly Dark Driceratops can inflict damage base on it atk and opponent def so that 1400 if it's attack Fusilier Dragon, another 500 if either of his Megalosmasher attack Y-Dragon Head, total it's exactly 1900 enough for him to win the duel so why bother summon more monster?'
But Dextra quickly understand why.
"I overlay both Sabersaurus!"
The field froze for a moment before chaos erupts everywhere on the field.
"D-Did I hear that right? Overlay!"
"He's about to xyz summon!? But where did he even get one?"
"As expect of brother Ryuji, the absolutely strongest in our orphanage."
Nistro and Dextra also see surprised look on each other face.
"Look like that monster he uses before was not his ace at all." Nistro say with solemn look.
Dextra also nood as she remembers the terror that devil bought to them when they first meet him. The walking calamity but also what bring hope to their lives.
"With the requirements of two level 4 dinosaur monster, xyz summon Evolzar Dolkka."

As the crazy face dragon appear on the field, everyone can't help but feel the temperature got higher.
'So, this is his ace, only rank 4 but I can feel the frenzy fire burning within it, not inferior to some weak Number card. Let's see if your second spirit strong like this one.' The calm smile on Mr.Heartland was replaced by a classic political smile.
"I'm not done; I overlay two Megalosmasher to xyz summon Evolzar Laggia."
