Chapter 31 - “Still Here”

🌙 Y/N × Taehyung (Late Night Heart Talk)

The dorm rooftop was quiet.

Just the city lights blinking far away like lazy stars.

Y/N stood near the railing, arms folded, hoodie sleeves covering her hands.

Taehyung walked up slowly, holding two cups.

"I didn't know what you'd want," he said softly,

"So I brought both."

Hot chocolate.

And lemon tea.

She smiled faintly.

"You still remember that?"

"Some things don't need reminders," he replied.

He handed her the lemon tea, kept the other for himself.

A long silence sat between them — but not the awkward kind.

The safe one.

"I saw you with him," he finally said.

She looked at him, heart tightening.

"With Jungkook?"

He nodded.

"Not in the way that hurts…

In the way that tells me you still care."

She exhaled slowly.

"I'll always care," she whispered.

"He was never nothing to me… just never the whole thing either."

Taehyung's jaw tightened, but his tone stayed calm.

"And me?"

Her eyes softened.

"You're…"

She stopped, searching.

"My constant," she finished quietly.

"The person who never leaves, even when things get messy."

He chuckled softly, but his eyes glistened.

"You know sometimes…

being someone's constant hurts more than being their lover."

"I know," she replied.

"But you're still here."

He stepped closer, not touching her.

"Because I don't love you to own you," he whispered.

"I love you because you exist beside me."

Her lips trembled.

"Still… you deserve to feel chosen too."

He smiled gently.

"And I do," he said.

"Every time you look for me without being asked."

She looked at him deeply, emotion spilling.

He brushed a thumb over her sleeve.

"No matter who your heart finds," he murmled,

"I'll be your shelter. Not your shadow."

Her eyes filled.

"You're not lesser than him, Tae.

You're not second.

You're just… different.

And that matters more than you think."

He swallowed hard.

"Then stay," he whispered.

"Not as a promise…

Just as you are.

Here."

She nodded.

"I'm here."

And for a moment… the city disappeared.

🩹 Jungkook Begins Healing (Self-Healing Arc)

A white room.

Not cold, just quiet.

Jungkook sat with his hands resting on his knees, tapping his thumb nervously.

The therapist spoke calmly.

"When did you realize you were hurting yourself too?"

He didn't answer at first.

Because how do you explain love turning into guilt?

Finally, he said:

"When I kept pretending I was fine…

Just so no one else would feel bad."

Silence.

"And what about now?"

He swallowed.

"Now I'm tired of lying."

He leaned back, staring at the ceiling.

"I lost her because I couldn't hold her honestly…

And hurt someone else because I was scared to let go."

The therapist nodded.

"And what do you feel when you think of her now?"

He closed his eyes.

"Grateful," he whispered.

"Because she still speaks to me…

Even when she had every right not to."

A small, painful smile touched his lips.

"I don't want to chase anymore," he murmured.

"I want to become someone…

who deserves to be found."

🌌 Ending Scene

On the rooftop —

Taehyung watches Y/N leave.

Jungkook sits alone in a quiet therapy room.

Yoongi writes music in silence, thinking of her smile.

And Y/N… stands under the city lights.

Not choosing yet.

Not escaping either.

Just existing…

Between hearts…

Between futures…

Between what hurts…

And what heals.

Things We Didn't Say" (Accidental Meeting)

The morning was colder than usual.

Y/N stepped out of the rehabilitation wing after checking on another athlete.

She had a file in one hand, earbuds in the other.

She wasn't expecting anything.

She was just walking.

And then—

She collided into someone turning the corner.

The file slipped from her hand.

Papers scattered across the corridor.

"Ah— I'm so sorry—" she began, bending down.

A familiar voice cut her sentence.

"…Y/N?"

She froze.

Jungkook knelt in front of her, picking up the papers silently.

His hair was messy from practice.

His hoodie slightly damp with sweat.

He looked… tired.

Not physically.

Emotionally.

Y/N swallowed.

"Ah… hey," she said softly.

Their hands brushed over the same paper.

Jungkook pulled his hand back immediately, eyes lowering.

This wasn't the cocky, loud, chaotic golden boy.

He looked like someone who was holding too much inside.

Awkward Silence

She stood up.

He handed her the papers.

"You still walk like you don't look around," he said lightly.

She gave a small smile.

"You still train like you don't rest."

He huffed a tiny laugh.

For three seconds, it felt… normal.

And then the silence returned.

Heavy.

Raw.

"Are you… okay?" she asked quietly.

He looked up at her.

His eyes were soft.

"Not really."

Her chest tightened.

The Conversation Begins

"Jungkook…" she said carefully.

"You don't have to pretend with me," he whispered.

"I've already done enough pretending for both of us."

She didn't say anything.

He breathed out.

"You know… the day I broke up with Ria, I walked out and— I almost called you."

Her eyes widened.

"But I didn't," he said. "Because I knew you were the last person I should burden."

"You're not a burden," she whispered.

"But I made you one," he said.

"I dragged you into my confusion. My jealousy. My crap. I hurt you too, didn't I?"

She didn't deny it.

And he noticed.

Jungkook took a step back, leaning against the wall.

"I'm trying to fix myself now. Therapy, rest, actual sleep… you'd be proud of me."

"I am," she said softly.

He looked at her again.

Really looked.

"You're… okay?" he asked.

This time her voice cracked a little.

"I'm getting there."

Jungkook's jaw clenched, like he hated that she wasn't fully okay.

"I'm sorry," he said suddenly.

"Not just for Ria. For the times I made you uncomfortable. Confused you. For the way I looked at you like you were mine when you weren't."

Her eyes softened.

"Jungkook…"

"I'm not asking for anything," he added quickly.

"No second chance. No answer. No… choosing."

He swallowed.

"I just wanted you to know I'm not running anymore."

A long silence.

Y/N took a tiny step closer.

"You don't have to run," she said.

"And you don't have to do everything alone."

He blinked slowly, like those words hit him harder than they should.

"You always say the exact thing I need," he whispered.

"That's not true," she said softly.

"It is," he said.

A Soft Moment

A notification buzzed on her phone.

Her next patient.

He saw her check the time.

"You have to go," he said, voice almost disappointed.

"Yeah…"

Y/N hesitated.

For the first time in weeks, she wasn't angry with him.

Not confused.

Not overwhelmed.

Just… gentle.

She stepped closer and fixed the collar of his hoodie without thinking.

He froze.

Her voice was soft.

"Don't skip meals. Or sleep."

He nodded slowly.

"And you…" he whispered, "don't disappear again."

She blinked.

"I didn't disappear."

"You hid," he said simply.

"And I get it. But don't hide from me like I'm the monster."

Her breath caught.

"Jungkook—"

He stepped back, giving her space.

"It's okay. I'm okay. I just… needed to say that."

She nodded.

And for the first time…

They parted without guilt.

Without sharp edges.

Just soft, unfinished honesty.

The team hall is full. Coaches shouting, players stretching, water bottles everywhere.

You (Y/N) walk in with your files, Yoongi walking beside you.

"Big news," Yoongi says, fixing his glasses. "Looks like the coaches are about to announce something huge."

You take a seat. Suddenly the projector lights up.

"WINTER ELITE TRAINING CAMP — 4 WEEKS — OFFSITE."

Players gasp.

JK and Tae glance at each other — both best performers, both definitely selected.

Then the second slide appears:

"Mental Health Team: Lead — Y/N.

Assistant Consultant — Min Yoongi."

You feel Yoongi nudge you.

"You're leading it, superstar."

Before you can say anything, the coach adds:

"Only our best will join… so Taehyung and Jungkook will be the main athletes this time."

Your eyes automatically flick to Jungkook.

He's already looking at you.

His expression is unreadable — soft, guilty, longing… everything mixed.
