Kai kept his eyes on the players.
[Name: Official man.
Level: 2.
HP: 100.]
Then the next…
[Name: Stargirl.
Level: 1.
HP: 100.]
Even if he didn't understand the game or its mechanics, it was still quite sad to know people this weak were headed to fight with him.
Not to mention the fact that they were most likely not the last group he would be forced to fight.
To them, he was just a dark figure seated on the throne, staring them down.
Nothing more.
"Honestly, can this day get any worse?" Kai blurted out.
All the players in the dungeon room immediately froze as soon as they heard his voice.
One of them proceeded to point at Kai with his hammer-looking weapon.
"Yo, I think that boss just spoke. You guys heard it too, right?"
Kai flinched. He didn't plan to say that part out loud; it just happened.
Another player uttered right after—
"They gave a tutorial boss a voice line? Hahah! This game is so damn peak, dude."
"I wonder how much XP we will get when we kill it."
"Wanna try? I am a warrior class, so I know for a fact I can finish this newbie with one swing of my sword."
"Let's go then."
'The fuck? They plan to charge at me just like that? Do they even know my damn HP? Wait, do I even know my own HP?'
Kai subtly looked above his head, but rather than seeing his HP like he expected, all he saw was—
[Level: ???]
'Huh?'
He looked back at the players; every single one of them was charging straight at him.
In that moment, two things confused him.
First, if he couldn't see his own level, then the same had to apply to them as well. So if they couldn't see his level, why the hell were they charging carelessly towards him without questioning it?
Secondly, why the hell was a healer joining in the charge as well?
From what Kai could see, only a single tanker stayed behind, and it seemed like he was trying to stop them from all going.
'Even if they are careless, I don't think I have any ability to battle them all. I am supposed to be the tutorial boss, meaning I am an easy kill, right?'
Kai paused. The players were already close, way too close.
'Fuck this. I'm not dying in the hands of some noobs. I should be panicking right now. So why the fuck am I so calm about th—'
[Would you like to activate the skill Grand Summon?]
'Yes! Activate! Activate it right now!!!'
He didn't care what the skill could be.
Playing a lot of games already allowed him to understand that if the game offers to help, the wise thing to do is take it as quickly as possible.
[The skill Grand Summon has been activated.]
[10,000 EXP has been deducted.]
[A new summon has been pulled.]
Everyone suddenly stopped in their tracks as a bright blue light glowed right in the middle of their path and the dungeon boss's throne.
Kai, still maintaining his calm demeanor, was curious to see what summon he must have pulled.
It cost about 10,000 EXP; there was no way in hell getting 10,000 EXP in a game like this would be that easy.
Then the light dimmed, and the glowing magic circle stopped spinning.
Standing there was a woman with long silver hair, wearing a long red dress that swept on the ground behind her.
While the dress was long from the back, it was quite different at the front, barely covering the front of her legs.
On the other hand, she slowly opened her eyes, revealing her beautiful and mesmerising red eyes that were as cold as the darkness they stood in.
Upon her arrival, the players took a couple of steps back, their eyes widened in shock and fear.
Then one of them spoke—
"D-dude, you're seeing this, right? I can't be the only one."
"No way, this is supposed to be the first game. How is her level this high?"
Kai soon realized how shocked they were.
As such, curious, he turned his gaze to the woman he had summoned.
[Name: Lyra, the Abyssal Empress
Class: Special Class, Disaster Calamity.
Lvl: 999.]
'Almost 1000?!!!' Kai screamed internally.
Now it was quite understandable as to why the players were not making second choices.
Seeing a boss with a level of 999 and having no hint of HP is enough to make anyone scared.
Not to mention, if they were to die in the game, they wouldn't be able to log back in until the 24-hour time limit was gone.
Suddenly, Lyra turned around to look at Kai.
She had a disgusted look on her face even before she fully turned around.
"Are you the one who summoned me?" she asked, her tone nothing close to being friendly.
Silence settled for a while.
"Why do you ask something you already know the answer to?" Kai spoke, not a hint of hesitation.
He then pointed at the party of players.
"What I expect you to do is complete that which you were summoned for. Your opponents are right there; kill them and prove to me that you are worthy of serving me."
His words settled for a while as Lyra stood there, a frown etched clearly on her face.
'Fuck. Was that too edgy? If she attacks me instead, it's so over for me. I don't have any skills to battle a 999-rated character!'
Lyra sighed out loud.
"To think I would be subjected to take orders from a being like you. What a shame…"
She turned around and faced the group of players.
"But I guess I can't complain. I hate humans more than taking orders. I shall do as you say."
While she spoke, she stretched her hand forward toward the players as though about to launch a spell at them.
Kai watched, refusing to utter a word.
Then suddenly, the tanker at the back yelled—
"Run!!! It's a trap!!!"
