"I see it!"
The squad leader's voice came through the comms.
After hearing the response, the Mobius pilot maneuvered his craft to aim and fire forward.
But bullets from the Dawn's Heavy Assault Machine Gun were already streaking through space. The high-velocity rounds were detected by the Mobius' optical sensors, but they offered no time for evasion.
One bullet pierced directly through the Mobius' cockpit.
Both pilot and cockpit were shattered.
An explosion blossomed in the vacuum, its flare burning like a star's final brilliance.
"Bastard!"
Watching his comrade die, the Mobius squad leader's face twisted with fury, teeth gritted.
He pushed his Mobius forward, spotting the white MS on his screen and squeezing the trigger. Shells erupted from his machine cannon.
A stream of projectiles raced through space toward the Dawn.
Meanwhile, Felix piloted the Dawn, systematically destroying incoming missiles. Analyzing the tactical display, he executed a series of maneuvers.
With fluid, seamless motions, he evaded the hail of bullets. Raising the Heavy Assault Machine Gun, he returned fire.
His shots found their mark, striking a maneuvering Mobius with precision.
After destroying that unit, the Dawn shifted left to avoid counterfire, then immediately raised its weapon again.
Another Mobius exploded into fragments.
With multiple enemies converging from different vectors, Felix instantly formulated a response.
The Dawn darted left, then backward, followed by a rightward shift culminating in a somersault to complete the evasion sequence.
Raising the Heavy Assault Machine Gun once more, he fired at an approaching Mobius. Its pilot desperately maneuvered to dodge, barely avoiding the projectiles before reorienting to resume attack.
"Damn it!"
Seeing the Dawn escape their encirclement, the pilot growled in frustration.
"Watch out!"
A warning blared through the comms.
Hearing the alert while observing his screen's changes and the shrill alarm in his cockpit, the pilot's tension peaked. Beads of sweat formed on his skin.
"Evade!"
He whispered the plea aloud.
But the Dawn's Heavy Sword descended upon his Mobius, cleanly bisecting the craft with a single stroke.
After the strike, the Dawn immediately maneuvered away.
It dodged incoming fire effortlessly.
The remaining Mobius units swept through the space where the Dawn had been moments before.
"Bastard!"
Another Mobius pilot cursed.
As he turned his craft to retaliate, a frantic alarm screamed in his ears—a clear omen of imminent danger.
He wrestled with the controls, desperately trying to escape death's grasp.
The Mobius responded to the pilot's thoughts and movements, executing evasive maneuvers, but it was already too late.
The high-velocity rounds gave it no chance to complete the action.
Propelled by immense kinetic energy, the bullets instantly pierced the Mobius's armor, rupturing its energy battery pack. In the next moment, an explosion engulfed the entire machine.
After firing the shot, the Dawn swiftly maneuvered to evade incoming fire from the left. During the evasion, Felix noticed one of his subordinates in peril and directed the Dawn to provide cover.
The Heavy Assault Machine Gun roared to life, unleashing a barrage in that direction.
The Mobius attempting a sneak attack was forced to break off and dodge the onslaught from the Dawn.
"Stay alert to your surroundings!"
Felix reminded him over the comms.
A grateful response came almost immediately.
"Thanks, Captain!"
"Don't mention it!"
The three words left Felix's lips casually.
With that, Felix piloted the Dawn to dodge attacks while simultaneously raising its weapon to return fire.
Repeated evasions thwarted the Mobius pilots' intentions, and successive precise shots sent one Mobius after another plummeting into oblivion.
"Mobius units in space are far more challenging than Vanguard Fighters in Earth's atmosphere!"
Felix muttered to himself after another successful engagement. As he spoke, his hands moved deftly, guiding the Dawn into a combined backward and leftward maneuver.
He effortlessly avoided attacks from both flanks and the rear.
Raising the Heavy Assault Machine Gun, he fired a single shot, the round streaking toward the front-left.
With precise anticipation, the projectile struck the targeted Mobius, crippling its propulsion system and leaving it stranded in space like a turtle on its back.
Just as Felix prepared to deliver the finishing blow, another ally seized the opportunity and obliterated the immobilized Mobius.
...
On the bridge of the joint command flagship for the Earth Alliance's Fifth and Sixth Fleets
The screen displayed live combat footage of the Dawn in action.
The Joint Fleet Commander frowned slightly as he observed the white Mobile Suit.
"Has ZAFT developed a new MS?"
"Commander, I don't believe this MS is part of ZAFT's next-generation lineup. It seems more like a custom-built unit designed for a specific individual."
The Adjutant standing beside him voiced his perspective.
The Commander turned to meet the Adjutant's gaze, and in that instant, they shared a mutual understanding.
"ZAFT works fast. They've already equipped that ace of theirs with a personalized MS," the Commander remarked, his expression grim.
The Adjutant looked intently at the Commander, his tone growing more solemn.
"Commander, even without a custom MS, that individual was capable of taking on hundreds of our Vanguard Fighters or Mobius units single-handedly. Now that he's upgraded to a new MS, his combat effectiveness is likely to increase further.
This could lead to even greater casualties for our forces!"
"You're right, but there's no turning back now. Our Mobile Armor Unit is already locked in combat with ZAFT's Mobile Suit Unit. Retreat isn't an option.
We'll have to take it one step at a time."
The Commander nodded in agreement, though his voice carried a note of resignation. Hearing this, the Adjutant understood that the current situation didn't allow for an easy withdrawal.
Of course, retreat wasn't entirely impossible either!
On the front lines of the battlefield,
Under Felix's control, Dawn swiftly maneuvered, evading bullets fired by the Mobius ahead, and drew the Heavy Sword from its waist.
With a single slash, the blade descended upon the Mobius, instantly cleaving it in two.
After delivering the strike, Dawn pivoted, raising the Heavy Assault Machine Gun in its hands. Bullets erupted from the muzzle.
The rounds, soaring through space, pierced the propulsion system of one Mobius, and a second shot swiftly destroyed it.
