Water pours over Jack and the hunter, along with the shrill alarm. The hunter shields himself from Jack's blows, counterattacking by striking Jack's face, but he is still pinned to the ground by him.
In the distance, Yumiel joins in, keeping a certain distance, sending her daggers to stab him.
The hunter begins to struggle even harder, injecting himself with another syringe. Jack tries to stop him, but with his other hand the hunter attempts to gouge out Jack's eyes, forcing him to let go.
Suddenly Jack feels a beastly force surge through the hunter's body. He manages to stand up, ignoring Jack on top of him, as Yumiel's daggers arrive at the same moment.
As he rises, he kicks Jack away before destroying Yumiel's daggers with his bare hands, smashing them aside. The plane begins to taxi, heading toward the runways.
The hunter then starts to sway slightly, vomiting a bit onto the ground. Seeing this, Yumiel opens her senses to their maximum, staggering herself, then extends her hand toward the plane, drawing blood from her body and creating a chain that latches onto the hull, connected to her hand. At the same time, she controls the shattered blood on the ground, creating a chain that links her to both herself and Jack.
"JACK, HOLD ON!"
Jack grabs the chain as it starts to pull away. The hunter tries to leap after them, attempting to grab it. Jack, on the ground, grabs his pistol and empties his magazine into the hunter, forcing him to retreat.
Alan is moving fast, over 30 km/h, and keeps accelerating.
Yumiel reaches the end of the chain, slamming her into the ground and dragging her outside the hangar. Jack follows, clinging to Yumiel's chain.
Once the plane is completely out, it goes even faster, reaching 50–60 km/h. Yumiel and Jack are dragged along the ground, their skin scraping away. Yumiel feels extreme pain but regenerates at the same time, continuing to hold both ends.
Jack simply sees his skin start to tear away without feeling any particular pain. He is dragged for nearly another kilometer. The hunter runs after them but is much slower.
About 500 meters farther along the runway, the plane stops as quickly as possible, preparing its engines for takeoff. Alan opens the door.
Yumiel is in terrible shape, truly badly injured. She no longer moves, only controlling the blood chain attached to the plane. She creates a ball of blood, sends it into the plane, and places it on the floor.
Alan understands when he sees the blood enter the plane and settle on the floor, returning to the controls to prepare for takeoff. Yumiel controls the chain connected to Jack and pulls him toward her, absorbing the blood to regenerate.
Jack gets back up, in bad shape but fully operational. Turning around, he sees the hunter about 200 meters away, running toward them. He glances at Yumiel—she is no longer moving at all, lying on the floor.
Jack turns back and picks up Yumiel, starting to run toward the plane. Yumiel weakly tells him, "Leave me, we won't have time. Face him, and when the plane starts to take off, stick to me."
Jack doesn't understand Yumiel's plan, but he trusts her completely, gently laying her on her back on the ground.
The hunter is now only about ten meters from Jack and leaps at him. Then suddenly the plane's engines blast, hurling the hunter, who was jumping at Jack, several meters away. Jack loses his balance and stumbles, falling to the ground.
The engines roar harder and harder, marking the start of takeoff. There are only a few seconds left before the plane lifts off. Jack tries to get closer to Yumiel. However, the hunter crawls along the ground to avoid the engine blast and grabs Jack's leg.
Both are on the ground: one crawling toward Yumiel, the other clinging to him. In front of them, the plane blasts more and more, beginning to move forward slightly.
Jack turns and sees the hunter climbing onto him, preventing him from crawling toward Yumiel. He breaks past the limits of his left leg and strikes the hunter. Although the blow is blocked, its power is far greater than usual.
Shattering the hunter's hand and sending him flying through the air, blasted away by the plane's engines, Jack crawls to Yumiel and clings to her.
She sees Jack latch on, then releases blood from her body, creating a small pool in which they both stand. Yumiel concentrates, opening her senses to more easily detect the other pool, then connects the two ends and emerges on the other side inside the plane.
The blood on the floor inside the plane is absorbed into Yumiel's body. Jack stands up and checks on Yumiel, who is no longer moving, breathing heavily. He picks her up and lays her on a convertible couch serving as an improvised bed.
The plane fully takes off, leaving the ground and beginning its ascent. Jack holds on during the climb and stays close to Yumiel, keeping her from falling off the couch where she is lying.
After several long minutes, they reach the air, flying straight in one direction. Jack joins Alan in the cockpit.
"Where are we going?" Alan says, preparing to change course.
Jack sits down in the copilot's seat beside her.
"We're going to the city of Harbin in China."
Alan makes a face, wondering if he's serious. Jack nods gently, closing his eyes.
"Fuck, I knew you were crazy, but not to this extent. Still, I like it. One last waltz, I guess."
She changes course, heading toward China.
"By the way, your teammate—is she okay?"
Jack glances at Yumiel, still lying on the couch.
"I think so, yes. She just needs rest and blood—especially blood, I imagine."
"She's a vampire, isn't she?"
"You can ask her yourself, but I wouldn't recommend it—the last one who asked her ended badly."
Alan presses several controls on the plane.
"I've just switched to autopilot. From here to Harbin, we've got a bit over 10 hours. I'm going to rest. Wake me if anything happens."
Alan goes to lie down on a couch in the back, leaving Jack alone in the cockpit.
