Chapter 6 - Ch 6

Victor and Carla grew inseparable, their bond deepening with every moment they spent together. However, their happiness was soon clouded when Silas stepped between them. Though Silas harbored feelings for Carla, her heart belonged solely to Victor—a devotion he returned completely. Desperate to break them apart, Silas began to shadow their every move, weaving a web of plots to drive them into conflict. Yet, despite his relentless schemes, their love remained unshakable.

Silas Nightfall first saw Carla with his brother; her beauty made him restless. He began making advances toward her, but Carla avoided him and chased him away. Eventually, Silas blackmailed her regarding her mysterious background and origins—a secret that would have a major impact on Carla and Victor's love story.

To prevent Silas from holding power over her, Carla decided to tell Victor the truth about her family. She tucked a letter between his documents and signaled for him to read it: "Meet me at our usual place in secret; I have something of great importance to tell you."

At seven that evening, Victor headed out to meet her. He never returned. As it turned out, Carla never even left her home to meet him. Because of the note she wrote, the blame for Victor's disappearance fell entirely on her. She was imprisoned by Victor's father, the active Lord of the land.

Silas helped Carla sneak out that night, but her freedom was short-lived. A month later, she was captured and burned at the stake on charges of witchcraft. To this day, what happened to Victor and what caused Carla to be accused of his disappearance remain an eternal mystery.

The Present Day

"What about the curse, Grandma?" I asked.

She replied, "Carla left a curse, but its contents are also a mystery. There is only one thing I know, Theo: you are in a dangerous situation. It may take your life, simply because you are the heir."

As Grandma spoke, Jax and I headed upstairs. Jax suddenly burst out, "What the ****? You are cursed! You don't even know the curse. You know who put it there, but they aren't alive anymore. ****!"

That night, I didn't get any sleep. Oddly, since arriving here, nothing had happened. It was as if I were well-protected; there were no eerie occurrences. When I finally woke up, I saw Jax sleeping like a log. I headed downstairs and overheard the butler say, "Aren't you going to tell them, Madam?"

From the other side, a voice replied, "I will." Following the sound, I realized it was my grandma. I quietly went back upstairs to sleep.

We woke up at 7:00 AM and had breakfast. Grandma told me I had to meet someone. Afterward, I waited in the lobby. Grandma Agatha brought Grandma Thalassa and a lady in her early twenties. I hugged Grandma Thalassa and shook hands with the stranger.

Once we sat down, Grandma Agatha said, "You should leave for Nightfall Manor, Theo."

I was stunned. "What? But—" I stopped because of the young lady's presence. I looked at my granny, and she said, "She knows. She will guide you and help you." I had just started to feel safe here; how could I leave now?

After the conversation, I found Grandma Thalassa and asked about my mother. "Is Mom okay, Grandma?"

"She is okay now, Theo," she replied. She looked at me closely. "Do you realize that the eerie things happening around you have stopped?"

I nodded. "Yes."

"It's because Grandma Agatha is looking after you," she explained. Just then, Grandma Agatha entered the room.

"I would like to speak with Theo," Agatha said, handing me a box. "Don't open this until you reach the manor. I have kept you protected, but you have grown into a fine young man, Theo. You must figure this out yourself. I have only told you the story that was passed down to me, but you have to find the real one.

Silas didn't just save Carla; he is the reason she was caught. And Victor? He has never been found. That is how Silas became our ancestor. He may—or may not—be the villain. You have to find the truth. That young lady is from Aunt Judy's bloodline—Carla's lineage. Because of them, we are safe from the curse. She will help you, and she is just as desperate to find the truth as you are. Be careful."
