Chapter 5 - Ch 5.

On my 22nd birthday, I received this Will and inherited our ancestral estate, 'Nightfall Manor.' According to the document, only a male descendant of the bloodline can inherit the house. I am the only son born in generations; for years, every baby born into our family has been a girl.

My grandma, Thalassa Graves, explained that any man who marries a woman from this family must take the name 'Nightfall' to keep the legacy alive.

My parents had completed everything except for the final signature, so I signed it on my birthday. Grandma insists that the Will is the cause of everything—but how?"

"Theo, do you know about Victor Nightfall? He was your ancestor from a hundred years ago, and it all started with him. He was a handsome and smart young man who fell in love with a beauty named Carla, who was an orphan. But because of certain circumstances, they fell apart and were separated. That was not the end, however; it was only the beginning of every misfortune."

And she whispered "That was not the end; it was the birth of the misfortune that haunts our bloodline".

I asked grandma "What happened?".

Grandma replied "You claimed a curse that has been waiting in the shadows for a hundred years."

My body froze up Jax patted my shoulder As Grandma started telling us about Victor and Carla.

100 years before,

Victor Nightfall the heir and the smart of all Nightfall. He is one who took the textile business to another level. His mother died after giving birth to brother Silas Nightfall. Unlike victor Silas

spent the family fortune on wine and women and a womanizer.

One fine day, while Victor was at the market for work, he bumped into a young woman. When he looked up, he saw a girl with long ash-colored hair and eyes as blue as a rainy day. She had soft pink lips, a sharp nose, and skin as pale as marble.

Victor stood still, completely mesmerized by her beauty. He leaned down to pick up the things she had dropped, but she quickly pulled away and ran into the crowd. Despite her sudden departure, Victor was on cloud nine.

Victor could not forget what he had seen; it was as if she had picked up his heart along with the things she gathered from the ground.

Next-day again victor went to market in search of her but he can't find her. He asked about her ,no one knows her . After a week he saw her again in orphanage home . Asked his assistant and bodyguard to look for her.

The next day, his assistant, Arnold, arrived with the report. "Her name is Carla," he began. "Her parents are deceased, but her aunt's family is still alive. However, her aunt cannot support her as she already has four children of her own. At seven years old, Carla was brought to an orphanage. Due to some issues at her previous home, she was eventually shifted here.

The orphanage also functions as a small clinic; the nun in charge is a trained nurse who treats patients there. Now that Carla has turned eighteen, she works at the clinic as well. Although she insists on staying at the orphanage to work, they are encouraging her to leave so she can start a life of her own."

Victor made a public announcement that there were vacancies in his business and that anyone was welcome to apply. He specifically insisted on informing the orphanage, sending a formal letter that stated: "We are seeking young adults capable of fulfilling these roles. Live-in positions with room and board are also available."This opportunity led Carla to apply for the position. In the end, Victor selected her, along with two others, to join his business.

Carla arrived at the towering Nightfall estate, her heart racing with a mix of fear and hope. She was determined to succeed, knowing that her wages would help her new life . From behind his heavy office door, Victor watched her through the glass, his breath catching at the sight of her. He also excited and nervous.

Carla worked efficiently enough to be recognized by everyone in the company. Victor began to show his true feelings for her through his constant care and attention. At first, Carla tried to avoid him, but as time went by, they grew closer. It became clear to everyone who saw them that they were much more than just an employer and an employee.
