Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

The Leaf City is a very interesting city in Felix's opinion as he walked the streets with Cana. They saw a school that taught the basics of magic, and teenagers maybe a few years younger or similar age working in a team with an adult mage. Each team seems to contain four members with the adults wearing green flak jackets that seem to hold a certain rank.

"Shouldn't we be tracking that Nine Tail Fox? Aren't you worried about Erza and Mirajane getting there first?" Cana asked.

"If they get there before me, then so be it. There is no need to be so stressed out about it." Felix replied.

He did slightly worry about his friends and members as he didn't want them to get hurt. Yet, he didn't know where the fox currently was and needed information. So besides looking around the town was heading to the head of the village for information. It would be faster than looking around blindly and offering a small chance to gather information that might conflict with the leader's words.

One thing that Felix knew was not to take the client information at face value. They may accidentally or purposely give wrong or withheld information. Often it is accidentally, but Felix prefers to be prepared in case of a surprise later on.

While on the streets, they overheard the titled Elite Mage and grew a bit curious. Usually when one speaks of Elite Mages, they tend to be S-rank mages of their guild. Yet there is no guild in this city unless it counts this city as a guild.

"Are the Elite Mages supposed to represent S-rank mages?" Cana asked.

"If it is, that would be pretty impressive as they would have over one hundred mages at least of such ranks." Felix answered.

"I wish it was so, but the elite are just a step behind such grand ranks." A stall owner jumped in.

The man seemed to have weathered many seasons but he still seemed energetic and cheerful, but his face had deep wrinkles. His eyes held a deep and time wary feel despite his cheerfulness he projected. Still, he seems happy to talk even if it is just to talk.

"Oh, then how do you judge a mage here?" Felix grew a bit curious.

"Nothing really special. It is very similar to how it works in a normal magic guild. There is a Mage Apprentice which are like those that are just learning magic or just join a guild. Then there are Mages, who are similar to experienced members of a guild. Then there are Elite Mages, their strength is impressive, like the core of a guild, but not necessarily reaching S-rank. Finally there is Kage or as most refer to S-class."

"Kage? Shadow? Why such a title?" Cana looked baffled.

Felix also looked a bit confused since he was pretty sure that this isn't a ninja village. It resembled one, but at most it could be called a mage village.

"Well, the founder of the village referred to it this way. At first Mage Apprentice was called Genin, Mages were called Chunin, and Elite Mages were called Jonin. However, the founder's friends blocked it, but allowed him to call S-class mages as Kage class." The man shrugged.

"Who is your founder?" Felix grew a bit curious.

"His name is Hashirama and he uses powerful wood magic. He is about 110 years old, but still runs around like he is in his twenties. Something about how his immense magic gives him longevity or something."

Felix felt like he might have just heard about someone similar to him who came to this world. Clearly they wanted to role play as the founder of a ninja village. Still it is pretty interesting to hear that if one has an immense amount of magic one will gain longevity. He just wonders how much magic is needed for such a thing. Neither Gildarts nor Master Makarov didn't seem to meet its standards.

"Thank you for the information." Felix nodded.

"No worry, many travelers have such questions." The man waved.

Continuing down the road, Felix continued to think about how one achieves longevity with immense magic. Is there a trick or are there certain conditions besides having a lot of magic? Various ideas swirled in his head, but soon felt Cana tapping his shoulder.

"What are you thinking about?" Cana asked.

"Longvity." Felix replied.

"Are you thinking of extending your own life?" Cana looked a bit baffled.

Felix actually wasn't thinking of himself. When he reaches a certain age, he will naturally stop aging due to having an Alpha Stigma. This problem wasn't for himself, but his friends as he wanted to go on adventures long into the future.

"There seems to be more than just immense magic." Felix and ended the topic.

Both of them soon reached the center tower where the City Leader worked and various tasks could either be taken or submitted. After signing into the building, they were taken up to the City Leader who was looking over some documents.

The man in the seat was a middle aged man whose hair was graying and hairline was receding. He seemed quite fit for his age, but had a slight hunch on his shoulders as he smiled up at them. Kindly greeting them as the door closed behind them.

"Welcome, I am Hiruzen, the current leader of Leaf City."

"Nice to meet you." Cana replied back.

After the greetings were done, Felix asked a series of basic questions. Such as the whereabouts, magic the Nine Tails has and any other information he had on the Fox. As it turns out, besides what Master Makarov stated. This city only really knew the location of the Nine Tails and its magic could be condensed into a large black ball that explodes.

A few ambitious mages tried to subdue it themselves, but met with a tragic end. The lucky two only lost limbs while the unlucky weren't returning at all.

"Thank you for your time." Felix said and left.

Cana smiled and followed behind as they left the building. Heading West for that is where they were told they could find the Nine Tail Fox. Felix began to wonder why they just didn't send a message to their founder who was out roaming.

If Hashirama is incredibly strong and has immense magic, why didn't they just call him to deal with this S-rank magical beast. The two thoughts that appeared in his mind is either Hashirama is out of contact or the city leader didn't want him back.

"What is the game plan?" Cana asked.

"Take down the fox." Felix replied.

"I understand that, but how?"

"I will know when I see the fox." Felix shrugged.

He wasn't going to form some elaborate plan without actually seeing what he is up against. The more complex the plan is, the more likely it will go wrong. On the flip side, it would also waste time if they made plans and the Fox has a different ability then what was given.

Each Nine Tail Fox can use magic called Fox Fire, but the City Leader made no mention if it is just this. Either he didn't know if this fox had learned something else or kept it hidden. Why if it is the second case, he didn't know nor did he want to assume it is that way. It just couldn't be ignored as impossible.

"I am not very good at frontal assaults." Cana said.

"That's fine." Felix shrugged.

"This fox is at least the size of a small mountain. I won't be able to help much when the fighting begins."

"Mmm." Felix nodded.

"Am I going to be reduced to a cheerleader?" Cana asked.

"Did you bring a cheerleader outfit?" Felix joked, earning a light slap on his shoulder.
