Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Heading out West, Felix hummed a little tune while Cana followed behind him. It became clear she was growing a bit nervous about the upcoming fight. Her footsteps became more hesitant the deeper into the woods they went.

"Cana if you are already shaking just thinking about fighting. How are you going to fair when it begins?"

As light jingles came from Felix's bells from his jester hat. His voice filled the silence that fell between them.

"Aren't you scared? This is a mutated Nine Tails." Cana said.

"Should I be?" Felix asked.

"Are you that confident you can beat it?" Cana replied.

"If I don't hold confidence in my own ability, what should I hold it for?" Felix asked.

Ka-boom!

Ahead as they chatted, a large mushroom cloud appeared not far ahead. Bracing behind a tree, a large gust of wind swept through the woods nearly uprooting the trees that were nearly three big men thick.

"What was that?" Cana shouted.

She had two hands on the tree before her and not caring her skirt was flipping upwards as it flapped wildly in the wind. Thus, when Felix turned his head, he got to see her white panties she wore.

"You didn't wear any shorts under your skirt?"

"Can you be serious?" Cana retorted.

"It's just some wind." Felix muttered off handedly.

This wind is nothing compared to when he fought the large whale at sea. The giant waves, howling winds and constant need to be alert for the next attack. Compared to this large gust of wind, that time felt more dangerous.

"It seems either Mirajane or Erza found the fox." Felix said. "We need to hurry our pace a bit. While those two might be able to handle themselves for a moment against it. Their partners are a different story."

"Are you sure they can handle it? I can barely stand against this aftershock." Cana trudge forward.

--

Marching forward to a large clearing, there at the center a towering orange fox with nine tails swaying stood. It had black fur around its eyes as it lunged forward snapping its large mouth displaying its white teeth larger than trees themselves. For a quick estimate, Felix guessed it was nearly two hundred or more feet tall.

"Truely is a small mountain." Felix said.

"What is the plan?" Cana asked.

Her hair seemed disheveled and her clothes were lightly ripped from bushes and small branches. Felix gave her a strange look as his clothes and hair were fine, how did end up like this following behind.

Deciding it wasn't the time to delve into such questioning, Felix looked at the fox who was fighting a pair of small figures with white and red hair. From small black orbs to floating swords they impacted the fox fur, but besides irritating it, no real harm was done.

"Cana, you go check on Mest and Lisanna to make sure they are alright. I will go deal with the fox as Erza and Mira seem to be struggling."

Cana nodded as she began to run around the outer edge of the field.

Felix then took a step forward as he began to rush towards the large nine tails. It struck him kind of weird as how close it was to the village. Still, the mission is to subdue the fox so he didn't plan to put much more thought into it.

When he drew closer to the Nine Tails, Felix began to mobilize his vast magic as the ground began to shake violently. For underneath the ground, wood began to sprout and break out from underneath as Felix with each step rose higher into the air.

"Wood Magic: True Several Thousand Hands."

Under Felix's feet, a giant wooden buddha statue rose up as one giant hand after another appeared behind it. Soon, towering over the nine tail fox who looked up stunned. Felix felt his magic drain a little less than half as the entire magic finished. Since the last time he cast this magic a month ago, his magic reserves seemed to have improved a bit alongside proficiency.

"I am a bit sorry, Nine Tails, but rest easy for this magic to beat down a demon from the Book of Zeraf not long ago."

"Roar!"

While the Nine Tails let out a sky shaking roar as it began to condense a large black ball before its mouth. The ball rapidly grew in size and power as the immense amount of magic gathered before it. Then before launching it, the magic shrunk rapidly as the power condensed further.

Felix frowned since if this thing went off here, the damage it could cause wouldn't be small. So, he quickly mobilized the wooden arms to descend and slap the Nine Tails down. While another hand went in to contain it or at least angled it so the attack would launch skyward.

--

"How is this humanly possible!" Cana froze in her step looking at the giant wooden statue that appeared.

She felt phantom fatigue just thinking about the amount of magic needed to use this magic. Even her own magic was quite large thanks to her father's genetics. If she probably couldn't even form one half the size.

"Whatever, I need to find the others quickly. I don't want to be around when Felix begins moving." Cana shook her head.

Luckily she saw Lisanna and Mest before her with Lisanna hands clapped together. Worry filled her face as Mirajane and Erza raced towards them. Clearly, much like herself, they didn't want to be around when these two titans began.

"Is he insane starting with such a large move?" Mirajane yelled, irritated.

"Shut up and run you midriff baring bastard!" Erza shouted.

"What did you say, clunky bastard!"

"I could have taken the Nine Tails, but someone had to rush in attempting to steal my victory!" Erza argued.

"Excuse me? I found the Nine Tails first!"

Both ran and bickered as a storm of dust followed them. Clearly they both knew it wouldn't do either of them any good to stick around. Neither of them currently held the strength to take part and truthfully wished they knew magic to make them even quicker.

--

Bang! Bang! Bang!

One giant wooden palm after another rained down on the Nine Tails. The surrounding trees were uprooted as the ground shook heavily and the gust of wind spread outwards. The ground sank lower and lower as the terrain on the forest hill began changing into a large crater.

After flatting out the Nine Tails on the ground, Felix began to cast his magic once more. After taking a deep breath as beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He released his next magic.

"Wood Sealing Magic: Gate of the Great God!"

Massive red torii fell from the sky, locking the limbs and tails of the badly beaten Nine Tails. Once it was restrained, Felix felt a bit bad since his mission is to kill it, but he didn't find the fox that dangerous. So he decided to just seal it away for the time being and maybe release it later somewhere else.
