Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Nero’s Fan Support Group

After reading the data on the Fright Maze, Nero and Stelle had gained some understanding of the Fright Maze's appearance, characteristics, and abilities, and they also knew what equipment was needed to recover this Curio.

The two stood up. Nero pushed open the door of the data room again, and two little heads, one gray, one white, peeked out from behind the door.

"Uncle!" Nero called out.

"Eh!" The bald staffer who had just sat down not long ago immediately stood up, turned around, and responded eagerly, "What's wrong?"

"Where's the designated Imaginary Overflow Storage Container?" Nero asked.

"And that Imaginary Overflow Interference Field!" Stelle quickly followed with her own question.

Neither of them mentioned the anti-interference medication.

The two people who had already looked at an Aeon with their own eyes and had even spoken with one held a kind of arrogant attitude, not putting the Fright Maze's mental interference in their eyes at all.

"Those two are tools needed to recover the Fright Maze. The data room doesn't have them," the bald uncle answered.

"Before you came, we had already prepared several recovery operations. Even though all of them failed, they should have brought the equipment to the containment deck, second floor. You can go there and take a look."

"Something this dangerous won't require every staffer to enter the maze. Someone has to stay outside and keep a clear mind to provide support."

"Got it, thanks!"

Nero waved goodbye to the bald uncle and left with Stelle, heading toward the second floor of the containment deck.

After seeing Nero and Stelle leave, the bald uncle took out his phone, took a photo of Nero's signature, and sent it to a newly created group chat called "Nero's Fan Support Group," and @-mentioned Wen Shiling.

[President, I already got Nero's signature.]

[Great! Bring it to me as soon as possible!] Wen Shiling replied quickly.

At the same time, others in the group were expressing their envy.

[President, weren't you into Master Capote before?] the bald uncle asked.

[Master Capote? Who's that? Is he better looking than Nero?]

[Uh… that's not even comparable.]

[This is incredible! Nero is so good-looking! Hair as white as snow, eyelashes like ice crystals, eyes clear as a lake, a fair and delicate face, and a smile like sunlight!]

Wen Shiling openly praised him in the group without restraint.

[No, I need to go check whether the space station has any data related to the Knights of Beauty. I want to see how they praise the Beauty Aeon. I need to learn from them, so that when I meet Nero in the future, I won't end up unable to say even one compliment!]

"Uh…"

The bald uncle scratched his head.

"Young people nowadays… Sure, he's very good-looking, but it's not that serious…"

While silently complaining to himself, the bald uncle returned to his seat. He set his phone aside, opened the database on the computer, and quietly searched the keyword "Knights of Beauty"…

"But I guess I should take a look too. Wen Shiling isn't wrong, how can I not even know how to compliment someone?"

———

Nero and Stelle took the elevator upstairs, then walked around the circular platform, opened the repulsion bridge, and followed the route Wen Shiling had indicated.

Very quickly, the two reached the outermost edge of the circular platform. Ahead was an empty corridor.

Just as they were about to go in, they suddenly heard a chaotic set of footsteps coming from inside.

The footsteps were irregular, as if someone was fleeing in panic. Then a dull thud sounded, probably someone had fallen.

"AHHHHH!!!"

A hoarse, sharp scream echoed down the corridor, growing louder and louder.

These kinds of screams came one after another, each one louder than the last, and the content differed each time.

Someone shouted that a corpse had come back to life. Another said they had seen a ghost. Someone else said they had been crushed by a meteor into a pile of flesh.

As the screams and footsteps grew closer, Stelle and Nero, standing at the corridor entrance, finally saw several figures running out.

These people were crying and shouting as they ran. Some couldn't even walk properly and had started crawling on the ground in despair.

They were definitely fleeing, and they were also somewhat mentally unstable.

Judging by their uniforms, they should all be security staff members. They screamed while running, paying no attention at all to Nero and Stelle standing at the corridor entrance.

One by one, they rushed past the two, then dashed down the circular platform and began madly poking the elevator's touch terminal.

The elevators in the space station moved quite fast, but right now, to these security staffers, it seemed unbearably slow.

They hunched their bodies, as though some monster were chasing them from behind. Waiting for the elevator felt endless. The staffers trembled like shaking sieves, panicking and jumping around anxiously.

Their eyes were wide, faces flushed red, bodies straining as if they were desperate to pee but every stall in the restroom was occupied.

Finally, the elevator arrived and the doors opened. The staffers squeezed inside like a school of sardines, as if they were diving into a warm bed.

Nero and Stelle simply watched them leave.

"Looks like they just attempted a recovery and failed," Nero said.

"Maybe the Fright Maze is a bit more dangerous than we thought?" Stelle responded.

"Let's go in and take a look," Nero said directly.

As the saying goes, the more skilled one is, the bolder one becomes. Even after seeing the security staffers' horrifying state, Nero and Stelle did not hesitate at all. They quickly stepped into the corridor.

After walking for a while, the two discovered that the corridor ahead was blocked.

The walls on both sides had suddenly squeezed inward, leaving only a narrow path wide enough for one person.

Some unfamiliar objects were placed outside the narrow path, and a female staffer was also standing there. Her face was full of worry, and she seemed to be in the middle of a call. Her voice wasn't quiet, so even from a distance, Nero and Stelle could clearly hear what she was saying.

"We just attempted another recovery operation. It failed again. The security staff responsible were frightened into mental breakdowns!"

"What? You found someone who can recover the Fright Maze? Who?"

"The heroes who saved the space station!!! Really? That's great!"

"They weren't even afraid of the Doomsday Beast. They definitely won't be scared of the things the Fright Maze creates!"

"And they're so strong, they'll definitely make it out unscathed even when the Fright Maze attacks! We can finally recover this unlucky thing!"

While the female staffer was still on the call, Nero and Stelle had already reached the entrance.

Nero nudged Stelle with his elbow. "I think she's talking about us!"

Stelle put her hands on her waist and lifted her chin proudly.

'Of course! That's me, the Galactic Baseballer!'

At that moment, the female staffer had just ended her call. When she looked up and saw Nero and Stelle, the worry on her face eased noticeably, and excitement showed in her eyes.

She hurried forward, excitedly grabbing Nero's and Stelle's hands. "It really is you! Just now, Station Manager Asta told me you would come help recover the Fright Maze!"

Her hands clutched theirs tightly, as if holding onto a lifeline.

However, before the three could say anything, a fourth voice echoed from all directions.

"Hehehehehe! Two more fools who don't know their place?"
