Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Perfect Moment to Show Off

The Doomsday Beast launched its final counterattack.

The destructive power of the antimatter energy stream was so terrifying that even the Doomsday Beast, this war weapon forged in the war furnace from ancient beast remains and the grievances of dead souls, began to gradually melt under the pouring of the antimatter energy stream.

Nero stood on the walkway. Everyone was retreating backwards to avoid coming into contact with those antimatter energy streams.

He wanted to find a way to break the situation that wasn't so dangerous, but the antimatter energy stream was overwhelming, and the flimsy materials of the Herta Space Station couldn't delay those beams for even a moment.

The terrifying heat had already begun to swallow up the Astral Express team. Up until now, they still hadn't seen the Express or Welt Yang.

Then… he could only do it this way.

Nero took a step forward, advancing instead of retreating. His whole body was like a gust of wind, brushing past the edge of the antimatter energy stream as he flew.

The walkway shattered. Nero casually scooped his hand down and grabbed a huge fragment from the debris.

In the next moment, a violent gale erupted. The white-haired youth in green clothes leapt into the air, both hands gripping a walkway fragment more than twice his own size as he rushed forward.

The storm carried the will of death, pushing him onward, letting the dead rest in peace, guiding ruined bodies into eternal sleep.

The storm wrapped around Nero, obeying his will, sending him directly toward the enemy.

The scattered particles from the antimatter energy stream continuously burned into Nero's body, and also into the walkway fragment in his hands.

Those particles landed on his skin, bringing searing pain. No blood spilled, only his body gradually beginning to fade and vanish.

Right now, that pain was stimulating every nerve of Nero. Ever since he transmigrated, not a single day had his mind been as clear as at this moment.

Only when life is about to slip away does one truly realize, he was really alive, alive in the world of Honkai: Star Rail.

This life is not a dream. Suddenly he felt the brilliance had lasted for a long, long time…

A small smile lifted the corner of Nero's lips. The distance was finally close enough.

With the power Aha had given him, he had absolute confidence to win, but at this moment, he felt he didn't even need to use Aha's power.

The storm suddenly surged outward. Nero charged toward the Doomsday Beast, raising the walkway fragment high and smashing it down with all his strength!

Another aerial slash.

Bold and flashy.

The walkway fragment, empowered by the gale and Nero's own strength, pierced with ease into the floating core-like object within the Doomsday Beast's skull of bones.

The Doomsday Beast began to struggle immediately. A massive force flung Nero away.

The ancient beast shook violently, constantly letting out shrill cries. Its ruined body had reached its end.

"Nero!"

Seeing Nero falling, March 7th shouted.

In the next moment, Dan Heng, Stelle, and March 7th all rushed forward. They quickly moved along the intact portion of the walkway. With a few leaps they reached the platform, ready to catch Nero, who was being supported by the breeze.

Himeko also showed a smile, as if everything had finally come to an end…

But...

Huge amounts of antimatter energy were gathering inside the Doomsday Beast's core. It poured all the power it had left into this one last attack. An even more terrifying antimatter blast erupted from the ancient beast's broken mouth, sweeping straight toward Nero.

Seeing this, March 7th's pupils shrank.

The antimatter blast was too fast, there was no time to pull Nero away or cast a shield.

Even worse, the shield she created probably wouldn't be able to block this massive antimatter blast that could split the universe itself.

Dan Heng gritted his teeth, a faint green light rising in his eyes.

A vague ripple silently spread from his body, as if some vast oceanic force was bursting out from a hidden corner, filling his limbs…

But someone was even faster.

Stelle leapt upward, the Stellaron pulsing in her body like a heartbeat. Power filled with destruction surged out from within her. Her speed became incredibly fast in that instant.

Stelle became a blur and immediately positioned herself between Nero and the antimatter blast.

The power of the Stellaron surged, colliding head-on with the antimatter blast. The massive impact sent Nero flying again.

Stelle clenched her teeth and roared, but her consciousness was slipping into emptiness bit by bit.

The next moment, in a daze, she came to her senses and found she was no longer on the space station at all, she was floating in the endless, deep star-sea.

A colossal shadow loomed over her. Terrifying cracks opened across the universe-sized body. Scalding golden blood dripped down like molten metal, igniting endless karmic flames in the starry sky.

Stelle was drawn toward that universe-devouring wound, her body pulled toward that horrific rent.

Her own voice? Kafka's voice?

Or someone else entirely…

That voice came from inside her, from deep within her consciousness, humming continuously like a low drum. It came from the Stellaron.

It said, ["It's time to depart…"]

["Go and reach that destination."]

["With your own will, arrive at that ending."]

["He has already noticed you."]

Countless images flashed through Stelle's mind, past, present, and future all connected in a line, until a high-pitched ringing burst inside her head, and she could hear nothing else.

Stelle finally saw clearly the colossal figure standing within the universe.

It seemed like a young man, with dark skin and gray-white hair…

He spilled divine golden blood that became flames scorching the cosmos. He cast off a black robe that turned to ash, marking the fate of all things. He allowed the universe to be swallowed in karmic fire, life to vanish, matter to disappear, returning all civilizations to a single point. Destruction, then creation.

If entropy increase is the universe's irreversible law… if heat death is the unavoidable fate of the material world… if destruction is the final sight every civilization will one day witness… then why should living beings struggle? Embrace the karmic flames, burn oneself away, and go together… into oblivion.

The golden divine eyes opened and cast an insignificant glance toward Stelle.

Her consciousness snapped back. Endless agony erupted from inside her body. The Stellaron's power flowed into every limb and bone, every cell inside her was burning.

The Stellaron swelled. Power surged. A strand of it leaked out of her body, enough to destroy a star, rising rapidly.

The antimatter blast was shattered instantly by this power. The Doomsday Beast's body was pushed into annihilation by the Stellaron's might.

The girl let out a cry of intense pain, she could no longer control the Stellaron going berserk within her.

Dan Heng and Himeko stepped forward to block the storm caused by this power. March 7th caught the falling Nero.

Within the space where that swelling power raged, normal means couldn't even get close. For a moment, they had no solution, only being forced to watch as Stelle's body was about to be torn apart by the surging Stellaron.

Now was the perfect moment.

After everything before this, now was the best possible time to use Aha's power to suppress the Stellaron and… gain popularity.

In March 7th's arms, Nero suddenly opened his eyes. Though he had been weakened somewhat earlier, he now drew out the power Aha had given him.

The boy's body didn't change, but he turned into a breeze, instantly rushing into the storm of Stellaron energy.

At that moment, everyone stared in shock as the boy charged into the space where the Stellaron's power surged.

It was too sudden, no one had time to react.
