Getting hit by a spear was one of the worst experiences a human being could experience. Cavemen may be tougher, yes, but they still felt pain.
The sharp pain, and shock from being stabbed by a spear was overwhelming. Adrenaline may help ignore the pain for a while, but after it died down, every ounce of pain could be felt afterwards.
Those who had sharp, stone spear heads lodged, and hooked a few inches deep within their flesh, suffered the most. For one thing, the pressure they felt on their bodies because of the lodged head felt as if a dinosaur was stepping on their wounds.
It was harsh, but at least the spear heads stagnated some of the blood loss.
As for the wounded folk who were simply stabbed, and had no spear heads in their bodies, they were bleeding out quickly. Those folk had the wisdom to try and cover their wounds.
