It took continuous gunfire, bombardment from Javelin anti-tank missiles, plus one Ice Rapier and two Lightning Rapiers from Bella, just to finally deliver the fatal blow with Mind Blast. The toughness of Pyramid Head was evident.
For an ordinary person holding a crowbar or pipe wrench, facing Pyramid Head, the only option truly was to run for their life.
"Is that monster dead?" 006 asked tentatively.
"Dead for the next couple of days."
Bella's answer left him completely confused. What did "dead for the next couple of days" mean? Did it mean he could resurrect in two days?
They hurriedly rendezvoused with the pickup truck, reorganized their firearms and ammunition, and then intercepted a wave of short, squat enemies.
There were quite a few of these enemies. With an average height of about one meter, they looked somewhat like children, but their skin was dark green, like some kind of mucous membrane. They had no facial features, held sharp knives in their hands, and would chuckle sinisterly.
No need to say more—fight!
These things only looked scary; their strength and speed weren't high. With a truck full of ammo backing them up, there was no need to fear.
The da-da-da of gunfire rang out across the campus, mixed with the sinister chuckles of the little monsters and the shouts of "Sharon—Rose—" from the pink megaphone.
006 really wanted to run over and turn off the megaphone. Here they were, fighting monsters seriously, while over there, the megaphone was still screaming its lungs out. It really affected the mood! But he worried that if he turned it off prematurely, he might miss his wife and child.
Endure it! Pretend to be deaf!
Bella held a shotgun in one hand, firing at the enemy with quite a bit of flair. 006 and Shaw were at her flanks. The three "people" formed a crossfire; a group of enemies with average mobility and singular attack methods really stood no chance.
"Watch the left!" She used the gunstock to smack a little monster away.
"What exactly are these things?! What are we fighting?" 006 couldn't help but ask.
Bella explained while reloading: "You've investigated Silent Hill; you should know there was once a girl in this town named Alessa, right?"
"I know, but that was someone from thirty years ago."
"Mr. Alec, please remember one thing: what we discuss has nothing to do with time. In the realm of thought, in the realm of the mind, what does time even mean?"
Knowing the other party didn't understand, Bella continued, "These guys in front of you are the classmates who bullied Alessa back then. To put it simply, it's the whole school violence routine: mockery, verbal abuse, insults, beatings. Alessa thought none of them were good people, so in the world of thought, she twisted them into this appearance.
They are ugly, hideous, even disgusting, but that's about it. Alessa doesn't exactly hate them."
006 drew his pistol and shot dead a little monster trying to sneak around a load-bearing wall to ambush them from behind.
They look like this, and it doesn't count as hate?
Shaw also expressed confusion: "Send me home?"
Bella pointed to the corner of the wall. "Look over there. A guy Alessa truly hates is coming."
Comrade 006 was extremely curious and looked up. Shaw, who was a bit short, also craned her neck to look.
They saw a white-skinned man crawl slowly out of the corner. Everything below his waist was twisted and deformed; his legs hung backward over the back of his head, making his entire body look like a giant shrimp.
His eyes had been gouged out, leaving eye sockets full of black sludge. He constantly flicked his tongue like a snake, making hissing sounds. Numerous wires had been driven randomly through his body, causing extensive ulceration all over.
The man crawled mostly using his hands. However, because his arms were bound together with the wires on his back, he couldn't exert much strength. Most of the time, he could only inch himself along, bit by bit. That posture was truly hard to describe...
Shaw's linguistic ability was still lacking, but seeing the bizarre shape of the shrimp-like man, she couldn't help but let out an exclamation: "Send me home!"
Comrade 006 had roamed the world for many years and seen all kinds of dark things. Seeing Bella focus her description on Alessa, and linking it with the few materials he had seen before, he could guess the gist of it.
"This is also one of Alessa's enemies from back then? Looks like a..."
"Correct. Classmate mockery, insults, abuse—perhaps those were within the range of endurance. But the school janitor also came to 'bully' Alessa. That was the source of Alessa's tragedy. This guy's despicable acts caused a young girl to fall completely into the abyss."
Although he was a man, 006 despised people who only bullied little girls. These guys should all go to hell!
Bella raised her rifle, aiming with interest, then fired a bullet into the shrimp-like man's left hand.
The shrimp-like man let out a heart-wrenching wail. His already slow mobility became even slower.
"You can understand this guy as a... a punching bag? The reason Alessa doesn't kill him is to torture him. The more we beat him, the happier Alessa is. Ladies and gentlemen, let's begin."
You say beat him, so we beat him. The three "people" switched to rifles in unison. Like a shooting competition, they opened fire on the shrimp-like man one after another. Palms, arms, soles of the feet, calves—every visible part was visited by bullets.
Bella wanted to try dissolving Alessa's resentment, so she avoided vital spots. 006 and Shaw understood the general idea, so all three fought very conservatively.
The little monsters holding sharp daggers were all wiped out. The lobster-like man was brutally toyed with by them, as if it were all just a game, shot after shot. In the end, Shaw even circled to the side and blew up the shrimp-like man's 'important tool' for moving forward with a single shot.
The Otherworld lasted for nearly an hour before finally ending.
The walls returned to their original state. The fans that had been creaking and spinning non-stop gradually ceased turning, their color reverting from rust-filled dark brown to the previous grey-white, as if nothing had ever changed.
The three searched the school again and finally found several footprints at the west gate of the school.
"Should be out the west gate. There are only a few places they could go..." 006 studied the map of Silent Hill. The three got into the car and chased deeper into the town following the tracks.
An hour later, they ran into another problem.
This was a hotel in the center of Silent Hill. Inside the hotel was a hidden room piled with miscellaneous items and showing signs of extensive fire damage. There, they found traces of Sharon and Rose.
The footprints on the scene were very chaotic, and two bullet casings could be seen; clearly, a battle had taken place. Afterwards, the footprints split in two: one heading east, one heading west.
Footprints of women's short boots, suspected to be Rose's, along with several gumboot-like prints ran toward the east. A set of obvious child's footprints was forcibly dragged toward the west by over a dozen other prints.
Rose was important, but Sharon was even more important. Left with no choice, they had to split up.
