Mixed-Species Nutritional Zones
The transition into the Multispecies Era has created significant public–health and food-service challenges due to the extreme biological and metabolic differences between species. In response, the FBM and the Ministry of Public Health formally enacted a species-based nutritional zoning system to regulate food distribution and consumption within public spaces.
Primary Nutritional Zones by Species1. Humous / Human Zone
Definition:
A zone dedicated to the provision of general food modeled on traditional human dietary standards.
Description:
This zone provides nutritionally balanced meals based on fundamental human nutritional requirements, including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and essential vitamins, suitable for species classified within the Humous Group (e.g., Humans, Halflings, Dwarves).
Foods served in this zone employ diverse preparation styles but are not attuned to any specific magical energy systems.
2. Bestia Zone
Definition:
A zone focusing on high-protein, high-energy meals with strictly regulated ingredient compositions.
Description:
Species belonging to the Bestia Group, whose physiology and instincts are derived from animal traits (e.g., Nekómata, Lionesse), require diets that support muscle development and sustained high-energy expenditure.
Food service in this zone prioritizes animal proteins and premium plant-based protein sources.
Key Regulation:
All foods must exclude high concentrations of capsaicin, as it can severely affect the highly sensitive gustatory nerves and digestive systems common among Bestia species.
3. Occult Zone
Definition:
A zone designed for foods that promote rapid metabolic activity, often characterized by bold or intense flavors and specialized formulations.
Description:
Members of the Occult Group (e.g., Vampires, Tieflings, Half-Demons) typically possess accelerated and volatile internal magical metabolisms.
Diets here are tailored to stimulate and stabilize energy circulation and may include:
Foods with high spiciness levels (to assist in regulating internal temperature), and
Specialized bio-energetic ingredients designed for species linked to dark arts or interdimensional energy systems.
4. Altos Zone
Definition:
A zone emphasizing foods that supply mana and natural energy, largely focused on light, easily digestible diets.
Description:
The Altos Group (e.g., Wizards, Dryads, Spellcasters) possess energy structures deeply tied to nature and ley-line flows. Their diets prioritize the production and restoration of mana.
Foods served in this zone include:
Vegetables
Fruits
Whole grains
Minimally processed dishes
Preparation methods aim to preserve inherent natural energy properties. Easy digestibility is critical to minimize physical strain and maximize magical energy conservation.
Specialized Nutritional Service Zone5. Order Zone
Definition:
A zone offering customized dietary services tailored to individually specified nutritional requirements.
Description:
This zone supports species whose biological digestion cannot be accommodated under standard classifications, including:
In-between categories (hybrid species),
Individuals with Anomaly classifications,
Species possessing uniquely restrictive dietary needs.
Example Requirements:
Cryo Species require exclusively cold or frozen foods to maintain physiological and energetic equilibrium.
Certain Anomaly individuals exhibit highly specific reactions to particular nutrients and thus demand bespoke dietary handling.
Service within the Order Zone requires direct consultation with patrons. Staff must receive specialized training to safely manage the complex and diverse nutritional demands of the multispecies population.
Supplemental Note
Nutritional-zone designations do not restrict access by species. Any individual may utilize any zone according to personal choice and discretion.

Food Service Designation Standards
Due to the vast diversity of nutritional requirements and serious health risks associated with cross-species dietary incompatibilities, the government and Ministry of Public Health mandated compulsory service classifications for all food-service establishments as follows:
Designation Standards1. Mandatory Service Classification
All restaurants and food providers must clearly display their service designation using official signage or symbols positioned prominently (e.g., entrances, menus).
Classifications must correspond to the Nutritional Zones defined on Page 84:
Humous/Human: General human-standard food
Bestia: High-protein, strictly capsaicin-free dishes
Occult: High-metabolism support, spicy or specialized foods
Altos: Natural/mana-supportive, easily digestible diets
Order: Fully customized dietary services
Purpose of Designation:
To enable patrons to select safe and appropriate food options efficiently based on their biological requirements.
2. Multi-Zone Certification
Any business wishing to operate across more than one nutritional category must obtain a Multi-Zone Certification, subject to the following regulations:
Required Training:
Owners and primary staff must complete education programs covering:
Species-specific nutritional differences
Health hazards of cross-category contamination
Infrastructure Inspection:
Government authorities and the FBM conduct inspections to evaluate the establishment's ability to:
Strictly segregate ingredients
Maintain separate food-preparation areas
This requirement is especially critical for Bestia, Occult, and Order zones.
Risk Assessment:
The FBM evaluates whether multi-zone operations may cause local magical energy instability, particularly in situations involving volatile ingredients from the Occult or Altos zones.
3. Punishment Protocol
Operators who fail to comply with service designation regulations, provide misrepresented services, or cause bodily harm to consumers through negligence are subject to:
Monetary fines, and
Potential revocation of operating licenses
Enforcement is conducted under the Public Health Law and the Mixed-Species Collaborative Act.
Case Study: The Valga Bar Incident (Year 2000)
Incident Summary:
The Valga Bar, established in 2000, operated without any service classification signage and lacked Multi-Zone Certification, despite serving meals to all species indiscriminately.
Identified Failures:
No separation of food-preparation areas for handling specialized ingredients.
No warnings issued to customers regarding species-specific dietary risks.
Consequences:
A patron belonging to the Bestia Group unknowingly consumed a dish intended for the Occult Zone. That dish contained:
High concentrations of capsaicin, and
Intensely metabolism-stimulating components,
both of which are severely hazardous to Bestia digestive systems, as outlined in the Page 84 protocols.
Outcome:
The affected Bestia individual suffered near-fatal shock and acute organ failure, requiring several weeks of emergency treatment at a magical medical facility.
FBM Conclusion:
The Valga Bar incident served as the critical catalyst for enforcing stricter implementation of mandatory service designation standards and Multi-Zone Certification controls, preventing casualties caused by negligence toward biological diversity in the multispecies era.
