Chapter 49 - Eating (49)

Kairo was confused... Luffy was eating a lot of food, like a shit-ton of food, like an inhuman amount of food. Kairo wondered where all that food was going. He ate like he had no care in the world, just stuffing his face.

Kairo took his slice and ate it, every few seconds moving his plate left or right to avoid Luffy's attempts at stealing his food.

Like, come on, eat your own damn food.

"What is this?" Sanji could be seen interrogating the chef as they told him about the country's specialty. Kairo took some wine and sipped it... it had zero effect. Fuck, was his alcohol tolerance higher due to his Lunarien DNA, or did he have to turn his flame off in order to actually get drunk?

This was food for thought. Maybe in the future, he'd learn more about that, but for now—

"Stop eating my food, Luffy!" Usopp seemed angry. Well, Luffy had just eaten his fourth crab.

Speaking of eating a whole crab, Usopp watched as Kairo took one and just—

Crunch

Huh. That shell truly was there for decoration, huh? He practically ate that shit in one bite, chewing through the shell like it was nothing. Chicken meat. How much could this 15-foot-tall guy eat?

He chugged some drinks but stopped after his sixth bottle. He still seemed oddly vigilant.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the table, Chopper was choking on some chicken.

"We need some more water," Sanji said, looking at the chef while making sure the doctor/emergency food of the crew didn't choke on his meal.

Usopp placed hot sauce all over his chicken.

"That'll teach you about touching my food."

And just like clockwork, Luffy stole Usopp's meal. Usopp watched with a smile as Luffy swallowed it all.

"HOT!" Luffy literally had fire coming out of his mouth like he was using some type of fire-style jutsu.

"Water!" He seemed frantic.

His eyes landed on the water that Nami had just chugged.

"Gum-Gum... Retrieve!"

As those words left his mouth, he stretched out his hand and grabbed the water from Nami's hand. As his hand retracted, some of the water spilled on Nami.

"Idiot, what do you think you're doing?!" The tension seemed high, and her teeth looked even sharper than a fucking shark's.

Luffy chugged down the water like his life depended on it.

"Ah~" He sounded relaxed. His mouth was no longer burning. He took some milk instead; while he could drink alcohol, he much preferred something that wasn't alcohol, if you catch his drift.

Vivi looked at the scene and chuckled a bit. While this was where the nobles of her family dined, she didn't mind her friends eating here—even if they looked like savages while doing it, like rabid animals in the woods.

Yet she didn't mind at all. This was their charm. This was the Straw Hat group she had been traveling with for a while, and seeing their silly side like this was quite refreshing to her.

The scene was just vibe and chill. Alabasta was saved, and Baroque Works was a thing of the past. It no longer existed. While Kairo could have tried turning them into his own private spy network, he didn't have the time for that, nor did he feel like doing it. It was way too much work, plus he had no experience with it. If he did try, he'd have to be the luckiest fucker alive for it not to fail.

He had no knowledge of how to run a gang. Yes, that was what he called it—a gang. His mom didn't like thugs... and he certainly wasn't going to be a gangster or a thug.

We shall ignore the fact that he was currently a pirate, about to get a bounty. Crocodile's defeat would be associated with Luffy. Zoro had no major fight, so his bounty would remain nonexistent, same for the rest of the crew. And by "nothing," he meant no major win. They all contributed, but like, come on—if that was how bounties were given, then basically everyone would have one like a participation trophy.

Kairo, on the other hand—they had no clue who he was. Even Smoker, who saw him, had very fuzzy memories of it, as if his observation skills were being messed with and what he saw was a warped version of reality.

And while Kairo thought that this made things safer, no—it made him far more dangerous. Within his description for the World Government, they assumed he was human since he gave them no reason to doubt it. He had all three basic Haki, was very good at intelligence work, was the reason the rebellion didn't happen, revealed the truth to the public at large, and apparently could shapeshift into other faces. That shit would probably factor into his bounty, though they had no clue about his actual skills. If they did, his bounty would easily be over 500 million, maybe even reach a billion—not because of his strength, but because he had such control over the Abyss, and the small fact that he could negate IT regeneration.

Alongside {SPOILER}.

A/N...Batman.
