Chapter 58 64.65. Huo Yuhao's Soul Surgery

"You... you beast, kill me then." Bibi Dong looked at Qian Xunji with hatred.

Qian Xunji said, "Dong'er, I will not kill you. Your talent is strong — twin martial souls. Your future achievements are sure to surpass mine, and your bloodline is excellent enough to bear me an outstanding heir."

"Qian Xunji—" Bibi Dong glared at him with hatred. "Do you think that after what you did I would still give birth to your bastard?"

Qian Xunji's mouth curled in a cold smile. "Whether you will is not for you to decide. You seem very concerned about Yu Xiaogang, Dong'er. You wouldn't want anything to happen to Xiao Gang, would you?"

Hearing Qian Xunji, Bibi Dong fell silent.

After what had happened, Bibi Dong's heart was full of fury and despair. She would rather die than suffer that humiliation — but Xiao Gang...

Bits and pieces of the time she had spent with that man flashed in Bibi Dong's mind, and in that moment he grew infinitely large in her heart.

He seemed like the last sliver of light Bibi Dong could see as she fell into the abyss.

She remembered the crew-cut youth who once looked at her with deep feeling and said: "I am sincere with you; in this world probably only I, Yu Xiaogang, am sincere toward you." Yes, Xiao Gang, you were right.

Qian Xunji rose and was about to leave the chamber when Bibi Dong's voice, full of resentment, came from behind: "You spare my life — aren't you afraid I might someday take revenge?"

Qian Xunji sneered. "Your potential gives you the right to say that, but Dong'er, potential is not strength. Until you become a Title Douluo, you are not qualified to say such words to me."

With that he left the chamber.

Divine Realm, Eternal Temple

Huo Yuhao sat down, fingers interlaced, watching the scene that had just unfolded in Tang Hao's chamber through the picture in his sight. Then the divine vision shifted to another plane — Bashu Tang Sect. Tang San's cultivation of techniques and hidden weapons had gradually reached completion.

"A'Yin and Tang Hao have had relations, but whether they can bear Tang San depends not on them but on the Asura God. How pitiful," Huo Yuhao sneered. "However, pawns moving according to the player's plan, finally becoming the player — that's not entirely pitiable. It is just a matter of time. With me here, do you still think you, Tang Hao, can become a ruler of the plane? Do you think the Tang family line still has a glorious future?"

"Tang San will arrive in this world soon. You little brat, you don't know how long I have been waiting," Huo Yuhao closed his eyes. Memories of his past experiences flickered through his mind.

He had almost fully re-experienced what the original body went through; the "taming" treatment had not been spared.

The original Huo Yuhao had no idea what would happen to him; he fell step by step into Tang San's trap and was tamed: whenever Tang San tossed him a bone, he would happily lick it — that "meat bone" being the stitched-up Tang Wutong. In short, the dog had been tamed into obedient servitude; a single bone to lick was happiness.

But Huo Yuhao — he was different. He had read the original story. From the start he knew Tang San the God King had fixed his sights on him! Knowing his future and still being forced to live it, watching the deaths of Wang Dong'er and Wang Qiu'er and the total disappearance of Ilyx, only able to watch the woman who loved him and the teacher he revered vanish under Tang God King's arrangements — powerless — was worse than being tamed into a dog.

More painful than being tamed is knowing you will be tamed and having to play the part happily while nibbling bones.

How did Tang San tame him in the previous life? With one word: emotion.

Affinity for Huo Yun'er, love for Tang Wutong!

But were the Huo Yun'er and the final Tang Wutong the originals? At least in Huo Yuhao's view, no.

Huo Yun'er's soul had long since been tampered with by Tang God King. A normal mother would stand by her child no matter what, but Huo Yun'er, like a life goddess under the control of a destroyer god, always, whenever Tang San's interests were involved, firmly stood with Tang San, becoming his mouthpiece and remotely controlling herself.

Tang Wutong's relationship with him was the same.

Whether Huo Yuhao had loved the stitched Tang Wutong in his previous life or not, she was nominally his woman. He even had to report to his father-in-law when he had intimacy with Tang Wutong.

Putting his mother and his woman into collars and strings to remotely control him — that was what Tang San had done to Huo Yuhao in the original storyline.

Over the years, resentment toward Tang San accumulated in Huo Yuhao's heart. This hate could not be resolved merely by killing Tang San once; it had affected Huo Yuhao's own path to completion.

In short, torturing Tang San, releasing his inner pressure, and perfecting his Dao heart — for Huo Yuhao this was a form of cultivation.

Tang San had not even arrived on Douluo Continent yet, and Huo Yuhao was already impatient.

He opened his eyes and shifted the divine sight toward the direction of the Star Dou Forest. With a thought he tugged at a strand of divine will he had left on Douluo Continent.

In the Divine Realm, Huo Yuhao used the Eternal Narrative Record to cover the traces of what he had done.

Somewhere in the Star Dou Forest.

A pack of vicious Soft-bone Rabbits were opening their big incisors and destroying the forest vegetation.

Wherever they passed, grasses and green leaves were eaten to ruin; one after another the poor tender plants were swallowed by their wide mouths, causing wide-scale destruction of the forest's surface plant life.

The greedy rabbits weren't satisfied — they dug plants up by the roots to eat them.

At this time, to protect the Star Dou Forest's ecology, a brave Human-faced Demon Spider stood up. It extended its stinger, charged into the rabbit horde and, clawing down one by one, slaughtered those plant-destroyers — making outstanding contributions to protecting the forest's natural environment.

The Soft-bone Rabbits panicked and scattered at the arrival of their predator. The valiant Human-faced Demon Spider fought bravely.

Suddenly—

A lightning-fast figure leapt from the grass and kicked the Human-faced Demon Spider. The spider was grievously injured and flew backward; when it landed and was seen clearly, its armor was broken and it could not move.

The pink-white figure was a plump Soft-bone Rabbit. Seeing the many corpses of its kin slain by the spider, its rabbit-eyes reddened and it said, "Damned Human-faced Demon Spider, you killed so many of my fellows. I want your life."

With a hop it came before the spider and kicked down—

The poor ecological defender, the Human-faced Demon Spider, thus heroically sacrificed itself.

Who else could save this forest ravaged by Soft-bone Rabbits?

"Thank you for saving us, ancestor."

"Thank you, ancestor!"

The Soft-bone Rabbits gave thanks to this very special rabbit.

That special rabbit said, "Don't call me 'ancestor' anymore. I'm going to take humanoid form like my mom. Once I transform I'll just be a little girl. Calling me 'ancestor' makes me sound old; from now on call me Sister Wuxiao."

"But Sister Wuxiao, my great-great grandpa is your son — if I call you Sister Wuxiao won't that be—" a rabbit fretted.

"It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter," Wuxiao waved a paw. "We'll each mind our own. Just don't call me ancestor anymore; call me Sister Wuxiao, got it?"

"Yes, ancestor!" the rabbits chorused.

At that moment, the ground trembled and the little rabbits panicked and scattered.

"Don't be afraid, it's Er Ming," having lived with that giant ape for tens of thousands of years, Wuxiao was accustomed to the tremor his steps caused.

Sure enough, a huge ape appeared over the forest, towering above, and looking at Wuxiao with a flattering expression: "Sister Wuxiao—"

Wuxiao interrupted, annoyed, "Really, Er Ming, how many times have I told you to walk more carefully? You're so clumsy — what if you step on my kin?"

Er Ming scratched the back of his head with a paw, embarrassed. "Sorry, Sister Wuxiao."

"Now, what is it?" Wuxiao put her rabbit paws on her hips.

Er Ming said, "Arou is back."

Hearing that, Wuxiao brightened. "Really? Take me with you."

She hopped up onto the huge Titan Ape's back.

Arou, Wuxiao's mother, had transformed into humanoid form decades ago and traveled between the human world and the Star Dou Forest. Every time she returned, she brought Wuxiao interesting stories from the human world.

The richness of the human world and the boredom of the forest increasingly made Wuxiao want to take humanoid form.

The Titan Ape ran quickly through the forest. Finally he stopped and lowered his head to look at an adult woman in the jungle.

Wuxiao hopped down from the ape and jumped onto the woman's chest.

"Mom, you're finally back. Tell me what fun things you saw in the human world."

"All right, my daughter." Arou stroked Wuxiao's pink-white fur.

Arou opened her mouth to recount her human-world tales when—

Crack!

Huo Yuhao's divine will appeared among the three beasts. At that moment, the massive Titan Ape and Soft-bone Rabbit mother and daughter were like a snapshot frozen in place.

They weren't truly frozen; their motions were minutely slowed. To Huo Yuhao, this was an application of time ability.

Time Current: like water flowing to the lowlands, rivers eventually reach the sea, but some rivers flow fast, others slow. Time is like a long river. Huo Yuhao's divine will entered a rapid current: a single second on Douluo's main timeline could be a year in this time torrent. Those within this other time turbulence could not perceive it.

"Hmm, let me renovate you," Huo Yuhao's divine will said, and it drew a cluster of light from each of the three: Wuxiao, Er Ming, and Arou.

That was their souls!

Although Huo Yuhao's divine seat was no longer the God of Emotions, his predecessor was, and part of his current godly position still involved emotion. The God of Emotions who does not control emotions but is controlled by them — how absurd.

A surgical table appeared before Huo Yuhao. He placed the three balls of soul-light on the table.

He then donned a white robe like a white-clad angel and reached into the void with his right hand. "Soul surgical blade." A scalpel radiating cold sharpness dropped into Huo Yuhao's hand.

He began to alter the three soul lights.

He removed part of Wuxiao's soul.

He injected a little treasure into Arou's soul.

He cut out a portion of Er Ming's soul and stuffed it into Wuxiao's soul.

He pushed part of Wuxiao's soul into Er Ming's soul.

And so on!

After the sequence of manipulations, three mosaic-like soul clusters appeared on the surgical table.

Huo Yuhao took one mosaic piece and stuffed it into Er Ming's body, then placed the other two mosaic lumps respectively into Wuxiao's and Arou's souls.

Next, Huo Yuhao approached Arou, took out three specially made spirit-guide talismans and a ring filled with a pile of gold soul coins, and placed them into Arou's pocket.

When he finished, Huo Yuhao let out a wicked smile. "Little bastard, you're in for good fortune. This is your blessing." Then he departed.

For Arou and the others, only an instant had passed.

Something felt off, but Arou couldn't say what. Looking at Wuxiao's expectant face, Arou started telling stories about her time in the human world.

"I went to Swan City and met a very wealthy but shy young master. When he saw me his face turned red. If I looked at him he would look away, too shy to meet my eyes," Arou's tone shifted to pride. "Such men — so easy to get. I toyed with him a bit and in no time he gave me 180,000 gold soul coins. I just had to use a few tricks to get his wealth."

Arou then narrated how she had set this inexperienced young man up and taken his fortune.

"At the time he swore he loved me and would give everything for me. I asked him: what if many people want to kill me and you can't fight them? He vowed to have them step over his corpse."

"Seeing his sincerity, I agreed to the relationship and extracted huge benefits from him over and over."

Arou continued with contempt: "I just sprayed some perfume and touched him slightly, shed a tear to show difficulty, and he'd obediently hand me spirit coins." She theatrically produced the ring stuffed with gold soul coins. "This is the ring the big sap gave me when he proposed. When he declared his love, I asked if he'd pay everything for me. He actually sold his inheritance and converted it all into gold soul coins for me."

Wuxiao's rabbit ears fluttered and she looked at her mother with wide, naive eyes. Today's human-world story was strange but somehow very interesting — she wanted to try it. Wuxiao's eyes almost popped out: "Mom, you didn't actually end up with him, did you?"
