Chapter 23: Wang Dong — Huo Yuhao, Leave. What I Want, You Can't Give Me.

"What?! He switched dorms? Why? Why would Wang Dong change dorms…?"

Huo Yuhao muttered in disbelief, a strange pang of sadness echoing in his tone.

Even though Wang Dong often looked down on him, they were classmates who had already lived together for nearly half a month. He thought they'd built at least some kind of bond—maybe even friendship.

"Why would Wang Dong suddenly switch? Did he… despise me that much? No… no, that's not it. Wang Dong isn't that kind of person…"

He stood there, struggling to accept the truth, before blurting out, "Which dorm did he switch to?"

At that, Long San raised a brow, amusement flickering in his eyes. For some reason, this situation was starting to feel… interesting. Especially since he suspected—

wasn't this Huo Yuhao maybe a little too concerned about Wang Dong?

"Diagonal across, Room 112."

He couldn't be bothered to explain more and pointed lazily toward his old dorm.

"Thank you."

Without another word, Huo Yuhao turned and strode off.

He had to ask Wang Dong face-to-face.

Why he'd moved.

Why he'd left without saying a thing.

If Wang Dong hated him, he could've just said so. He'd have left quietly, no questions asked.

But this abrupt departure—it hurt more than he wanted to admit.

Knock, knock, knock!

The sound of his fist echoed against the wooden door of Room 112—loud, sharp, full of frustration.

Click.

The door opened. Wang Dong's head peeked out, expression calm as still water.

"Huo Yuhao. What is it?" Wang Dong asked plainly, as if dorm transfers were no big deal, like he hadn't just turned his former roommate's world upside down.

Of course, to Wang Dong, it truly wasn't a big deal.

He felt no need to care about Huo Yuhao's feelings. They'd only lived together briefly. Sure, they'd talked, trained, and even argued—but nothing deep enough to make him feel guilty.

To Wang Dong, Huo Yuhao was just a tolerable roommate. Nothing more.

Well… his grilled fish was good.

But that meal couldn't compare to Ye Chen's secret cultivation technique.

That "secret art," which multiplied cultivation efficiency by ten, was irresistible.

Why would he give that up for a roommate who reeked of sweat and grilled food?

"Wang Dong… you—you changed dorms… why?"

Huo Yuhao had charged here filled with anger, but seeing that emotionless face, all his fury vanished.

Because there was no remorse in Wang Dong's eyes. No hesitation. Nothing.

As if switching dorms was merely… convenience.

"No special reason," Wang Dong said lightly. "I just found a better roommate. You've always been annoyed that I don't clean, right? Well, now you won't have to hate me anymore~"

He smiled faintly, like it was all a small joke.

"B-but… we're classmates," Huo Yuhao stammered. "Who's your new roommate? Is he really that great?"

"Oh? My new roommate is Ye Chen from Class Nine," Wang Dong replied casually. Then his eyes gleamed with something mysterious as he added, "And yes… what I want, only he can give."

For a long moment, Huo Yuhao said nothing. His entire body froze.

Those words hit like a physical blow.

Something deep inside him cracked. A hollow ache spread from his chest, heavy and suffocating.

His instincts screamed that if he turned away now, if he let this moment pass, he'd regret it for the rest of his life.

But… what could he possibly say to make Wang Dong stay?

After all, Wang Dong's new roommate wasn't just anyone—it was Ye Chen.

Handsome, powerful, confident Ye Chen.

No wonder Wang Dong liked him better.

Compared to that, what was he? Just a nobody. Weak. Average.

And he'd even hit Wang Dong once when they'd first met. In hindsight, it was almost obvious Wang Dong would want to leave him behind.

"Alright, Huo Yuhao. If you're done, please go. I want to rest."

Then bang!

The door slammed shut before he could even respond.

Inside, Wang Dong was already thinking of only one thing—the moment Ye Chen came back. When they could train together again.

Sure, Huo Yuhao's grilled fish was tasty. But compared to tenfold faster cultivation? Fish lost every time.

He could buy that himself later.

No need to rely on someone else and look like he was mooching.

"W-Wang Dong, I…"

Huo Yuhao opened his mouth, but the words caught in his throat.

He stood there for a long moment, staring at the closed door, before lowering his head.

His chest felt impossibly heavy.

It was just a dorm change. So why did it hurt so much?

Why did it feel like losing something irreplaceable?

He trudged back to his new room, each step slower than the last.

Inside, Long San was still cross-legged, silently meditating.

When he saw Huo Yuhao enter, slouched and defeated, Long San immediately understood.

He didn't know him well, but one glance was enough. Compared to Ye Chen, Huo Yuhao looked fragile, too gentle, lacking confidence.

No wonder Wang Dong had chosen Ye Chen instead.

"Face it," Long San said slowly, his tone almost sympathetic. "You can't compare to Ye Chen."

That was supposed to sound comforting.

Instead, it ignited a spark.

The unyielding fire only those blessed by fate possessed—the defiance of destiny itself.

"No!" Huo Yuhao shouted, fists clenched tight.

"I'm not weaker than him! So what if he's talented? One day, I'll surpass him!"

His eyes blazed scarlet with determination, his nails digging into his palms as his anger formed into resolve.

Yes—this was all Ye Chen's fault.

Ye Chen had stolen his roommate. His closest friend.

His Wang Dong.

That unbearable jealousy hardened into a vow.

Someday, he'd become strong enough to get him back—to stand above Ye Chen, forcing Wang Dong to realize who truly deserved his place.

Elsewhere, in an elegant private room at the Seven Treasure Hotel in Shrek City—

Ye Chen, Wu Feng, and Ning Tian were having the time of their lives, feasting like royalty.

Ning Tian was, after all, a true noble heiress—her family's sect owned numerous businesses across the city, including this very restaurant.

For her, dining here wasn't luxury—it was routine.

"Here, Ye Chen, try this one—it's the hotel's specialty~"

"And this too! It's my favorite—eat up~"

Wu Feng and Ning Tian sat pressed close to Ye Chen, taking turns feeding him bite after bite.

Even more distracting, both had traded their uniforms for dresses.

Ning Tian wore a pure white dress, paired with lace-trimmed thigh-highs that made her look too enticing for words—snow-pale legs glimmering with every movement.

Wu Feng, meanwhile, wore a black dress with matching stockings, her wild, fiery nature softened by an undercurrent of alluring mystery.

As they ate, Ning Tian stretched out under the table, resting her silky, white-sheathed legs casually across Ye Chen's thighs.

"Uh… Ning Tian, what are you doing?"

Ye Chen blinked down at her legs, momentarily stunned.

Wasn't this supposed to be just dinner?

Since when did dinner involve this kind of contact?
