Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Total Annihilation, Dominating Wu Feng

Chapter 9: Total Annihilation, Dominating Wu Feng

"Mu Jin, what's this? So many people fighting one student—did that kid offend you or something?"

A teacher who was friendly with Mu Jin walked over, curious.

Even for punishment, this looked excessive. What if someone accidentally got hurt—or worse?

"I'm not that petty old hag Zhou Yi. Just watch." Mu Jin rolled her eyes, clearly uninterested in explaining.

After all, Ye Chen's background was confidential. She herself had only learned of it that morning.

"Hmm? That student looks unfamiliar. Mu Jin, I don't recall seeing him in your class," another teacher remarked, intrigued.

Ye Chen's appearance was too striking to ignore.

All the teachers had been training alongside the students for weeks—they already knew which classes had talented individuals.

But none had ever seen someone like him before.

"He's a transfer student," Mu Jin explained simply. "Special approval from the administration. Joined today."

"A transfer student? No wonder... To force an entry mid-term, he must be at least a Soul Elder!" a teacher exclaimed, visibly impressed.

Before Mu Jin could respond, the ground trembled with a mighty surge of energy.

"Rooaaar—!"

A dragon's roar echoed across the field as Ye Chen released his martial soul.

Four soul rings appeared beneath his feet—yellow, purple, purple, black!

That black ten-thousand-year ring alone had more power than all of the other students' rings combined.

Even some Soul Kings among the instructors lacked a ring of such level.

Gasps erupted instantly among the teachers.

"Heavens above—a Soul Sect?! And his second ring is already thousand-years-old? What kind of monster is this!"

"Mu Jin! Did you make some backroom deal with Director Du? How else would you get a student like that assigned to your class?"

"This can't be a freshman. Even sixth-year students aren't this terrifying!"

"With someone like that, there's no point in testing—just assign him straight into the Inner Court!"

The teachers around were nearly shouting. Their jealousy was palpable.

They had poured years of effort into training their students, hoping to one day bask in the glory of a prodigy's rise.

Yet Mu Jin had seemingly picked up a living treasure overnight—comparable to finding a ten-thousand-year soul bone lying on the street.

There was simply no fairness in it.

Meanwhile, on the training field, the battle had begun.

Ye Chen merely released a trace of his dragon might, and instantly, every beast-type martial soul user froze.

Their martial spirits flickered, their soul rings turned faint and unstable.

After all, Ye Chen's martial soul was one of the nine offspring of the Dragon God.

Even in his incomplete state, his sheer pressure crushed all within his rank.

Icy energy rippled outward. Frost spread across the ground, freezing the air itself, making everyone tremble violently.

"This pressure… same dragon race—yet why is his power so much stronger?!"

Wu Feng glared at Ye Chen, shock and awe warring on her face.

Her Red Dragon might have been a lesser dragon species, but it was still part of the lineage—yet faced with Ye Chen's aura, her spirit quivered in submission.

She couldn't even muster the courage to strike.

"Seven Treasures, shine with your light—"

Ning Tian tried to cast her amplification spell, but the crushing cold froze her breath mid-incantation. The mantra fell apart on her lips.

Ye Chen's draconic dominance alone suppressed every beast-soul martial artist.

Coupled with his Ultimate Ice, the entire area became an arctic wasteland.

He hadn't even used a single ability, and already everyone was incapacitated.

"Well," Ye Chen murmured, scratching his nose, "I've underestimated the Ultimate Ice... no—overestimated Ma Xiaotao."

He finally understood.

He had only tested his soul once before—against Ma Xiaotao.

Back then, he had thought his Ice Dragon was "not that strong."

Now he realized—it wasn't weakness; she was simply too powerful.

The captain of the Shrek Seven Devils had more than earned her title.

With a faint smile, he dismissed his martial soul completely and spoke calmly, "Alright then, I won't use my martial spirit or soul rings. Come at me together."

At once, his dragon form faded.

Glacial light flowed across his skin as crystalline dragon scales formed around his body—a soul armor technique.

Once a cultivator reached a certain level, they could use limited soul skill effects even without summoning their martial spirit, though at reduced strength.

Like a Fire-attribute Title Douluo lighting a candle at home—they didn't need to release all nine rings just to ignite a spark.

Releasing the martial spirit maximized combat power—but it also served another purpose: showmanship.

Most soul masters adored that feeling of awe and spectacle.

To fight without summoning spirit or rings... was even flashier in its own way.

And Ye Chen wasn't above admitting—he liked to show off too.

At his level, handling a few overconfident students was laughably easy.

"Ye Chen, don't get so full of yourself!"

Wu Feng snapped, unleashing her spirit again.

A low dragon's cry resonated as crimson light enveloped her body. Her figure elongated, growing more mature—her delicate twelve-year-old form blossomed into the shape of a seventeen- or eighteen-year-old woman.

Her petite frame became statuesque, her chest pressed tight against her torn uniform before a layer of red, form-fitting leather armor expanded to cover her new shape.

She had transformed from a fiery young girl… into a striking battle-hardened beauty.

Her crimson scales shimmered as partial dragonification spread—covering her arms and shoulders.

Her aura soared.

"Whoosh—!"

With a burst of heat, Wu Feng charged at Ye Chen, wreathed in flame.

She might admire him, but pride demanded she fight him seriously.

Without his soul rings and martial spirit active, she was convinced she had a chance!

"Ice Dragon's Breath—"

Ye Chen extended one hand lazily, releasing a stream of icy mist.

Even without full power, the frost spread in an instant.

The flames on Wu Feng's body dimmed by half before she even reached him.

Just as her claws slashed forward, Ye Chen casually flicked his wrist—sending out a gleaming shard of pure ice, two meters long.

A weakened version of his third ability—"Ice Dragon Claw."

If he attacked with full power, he would've torn through her entirely. So he held back.

Even so, the resulting blast was tremendous.

"What—?!"

Wu Feng's eyes widened as the icy blade crashed against her arm.

"Boom—!"

"Ah—!"

The explosion burst into thousands of icy shards, each sharp as a knife.

Wu Feng was flung backward like a cannonball, spinning wildly before crashing heavily into the stone floor below.

Fortunately, her body was durable and Ye Chen had intentionally restrained his power.

She wasn't injured severely—just drained, her transformation collapsing as she reverted to her smaller form.

Still, to the others, the scene was utterly horrifying.

Their strongest attacker—flattened in one move!

"How do we fight that?!"

"Everyone together! Don't hold back!"

Someone shouted, triggering a morale-type team buff.

A wave of battle energy spread as dozens of students launched their abilities.

Energy bolts, ice shards, and beams of light rained toward Ye Chen.

Vines wrapped around his feet—only to freeze and shatter.

Mud traps solidified to ice under his steps.

Curses and debuffs flickered across his body without effect.

Their attacks, their coordination—it didn't matter.

A few bold close-range fighters, boosted by Ning Tian's support, charged in.

Ye Chen casually swiped his hand again.

Each "Ice Blade" sent them flying off the stage.

At last, he exhaled slightly and unleashed a light version of "Ice Dragon's Breath."

A polar storm swept across the entire platform—its sheer chill sending every last challenger retreating in panic.

In under thirty seconds, it was over.

Ye Chen had completely dominated half the class—effortlessly.
