Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Who Agrees, Who Opposes

Chapter 89: Who Agrees, Who Opposes

"Master, the Mittel Clan has shown blatant disrespect. By their crimes, they deserve extermination," Xiao Wu said coldly, his face dark with anger.

Since becoming Xiao Yan's bodyguard, he had grown accustomed to seeing everyone treat the young master with the utmost reverence. Insulting the Imperial Son of the Xiao Clan? Even Dou Saint powerhouses wouldn't dare.

An insult to Xiao Yan was an insult to the Xiao Clan a humiliation to the entire family. Such blasphemy was unforgivable.

Even without his clan title, Xiao Yan was the grandson of a Dou Saint and the son of a Dou Venerate. If the words spoken today reached Xiao Lin or others in the family, the Jia Ma Holy City would likely be wiped off the map by morning.

Though the Xiao Clan rarely interfered with external matters, that didn't mean they tolerated insolence from lesser beings.

Xiao Yan, however, remained calm. He waved off Xiao Wu's suggestion, his expression indifferent.

Next to him, Yafei was still reeling from shock, while the two guards stood paralyzed with fear.

The once arrogant Lei Ou Elder was gone, obliterated by a single crimson energy beam. His existence erased, leaving behind only a bottomless, charred crater in the ground.

The brief yet overwhelming power surge had not gone unnoticed. Inside the Mittel Clan estate, multiple presences stirred, and in moments, an elder arrived, flapping his Dou Qi wings.

The elder, Mittel Tengshan, surveyed the scene, his gaze lingering on Xiao Yan and the two old men standing behind him. His pupils constricted.

"Esteemed guests, may I ask what brings you to the Mittel Clan?" Tengshan greeted with a forced smile, pretending not to notice the smoldering crater nearby.

The three figures before him exuded a strength that made him tremble. Even the young man's aura was impenetrable, leaving Tengshan unsure of his exact cultivation level.

The two elders, on the other hand, were unfathomable. A single glance from them made Tengshan feel as though he were a mere ant before two towering dragons.

Their presence was oppressive, and yet they stood deferentially behind the youth like bodyguards.

"What is the boy's background?" Tengshan swallowed hard.

He realized that the Mittel Clan proud and influential as it was had crossed paths with an entity far beyond its comprehension.

On the sparsely populated Jia Ma Continent, how many people had ever seen a fifteen year old Dou Emperor?

Xiao Yan smiled faintly and pulled Yafei closer to him. "It's simple. Yafei is now my woman. From today onward, the Mittel Clan's leadership needs a change."

Tengshan froze, his expression blank.

So direct? The youth's boldness left him momentarily speechless.

Yafei, having recovered from her initial shock, stepped forward. "Grand Elder, allow me to introduce Xiao Yan, my..."

"Man," Xiao Yan interjected firmly.

Blushing slightly, Yafei shot him a sidelong glance before addressing Tengshan. "Grand Elder, surely you'll invite such an honored guest inside for tea?"

Finding a lifeline in her words, Tengshan immediately bowed. "Of course, esteemed guests, please, follow me to the guest hall."

Inside the Mittel Clan Guest Hall

Hours later, Tengshan sat in a lavish dining hall, his wrinkled face creased into a sycophantic smile.

Through their conversation, he had pieced together the situation.

Xiao Yan, as it turned out, hailed from a powerful family in the Central Plains. Though Tengshan couldn't gauge the full extent of their influence, he surmised that the clan likely boasted Dou Venerate powerhouses.

The two elders accompanying Xiao Yan might even be high level Dou Ancestors or Dou Venerates themselves.

A clan capable of sending such powerful figures as mere guards was beyond Tengshan's imagination.

Even Xiao Yan himself a boy barely out of adolescence possessed strength that would allow him to run rampant in the Jia Ma Empire.

Tengshan had made up his mind: he would do everything in his power to curry favor with this mysterious young master.

As for Lei Ou, the elder who had insulted Xiao Yan? Tengshan now considered his death a blessing.

Had Yafei not been so close to Xiao Yan, the entire Mittel Clan might have been obliterated.

Tengshan's grin widened as Xiao Yan sampled the dishes on the table. His satisfaction was short lived, however, when a small, chubby hand darted out and intercepted a piece of food.

Xiao Yan's face darkened as he glared at Hun Xin, whose mouth was smeared with grease.

"No more lollipops for you tomorrow," he declared.

Hun Xin froze, her eyes widening before she burst into loud wails.

"Why are you so mean to her?" Yafei chided, pulling the little girl into her arms. "Xin Xin, don't cry. I'll take you out for something delicious tomorrow, alright?"

Instantly, the crying stopped, and Hun Xin beamed. "Thank you, Auntie!"

Yafei's smile faltered, and she hastily set the girl back down. "This child is impossible!"

Ignoring the scene, Xiao Yan turned back to Tengshan, sipping his wine leisurely. "Grand Elder, I believe we've covered the essentials. You understand who the Mittel Clan's next leader should be, correct?"

"Yes, yes, of course!" Tengshan nodded vigorously. "Yafei has always been a talented businesswoman, and with Xiao Yan's support, she's undoubtedly the perfect candidate to lead the family."

For Tengshan, it didn't matter who led the clan. What mattered was survival and ensuring the Mittel Clan's prosperity.

Yafei's cheeks flushed at the compliment, her gaze softening as she looked at Xiao Yan.

The Next Morning: Mittel Clan Council Hall

Tengshan stood at the head of the Mittel Clan council, his demeanor stern and commanding. Gone was the sycophantic smile he wore in front of Xiao Yan.

"Grand Elder, what's so urgent that we needed to convene so early?" one of the council members asked, yawning.

"Yes, couldn't this wait until later?"

Tengshan's sharp gaze swept over the assembled elders, all of whom were high ranking members of the clan. Even the weakest among them was a seven star Dou Practitioner.

"This meeting concerns the future of the Mittel Clan," Tengshan announced gravely. "Yesterday, Yafei returned."

A hush fell over the room. Several elders exchanged uneasy glances.

"She returned? But her training period isn't over," one elder said. "That's a breach of clan law!"

"Yes, such behavior warrants punishment," another added, his tone cold.

Tengshan's eyes narrowed, and a chilling pressure descended upon the room. The elder who had spoken felt a shiver run down his spine as Tengshan's gaze bore into him.

"Enough!" Tengshan's voice was like thunder, silencing the room. "The Mittel Clan stands at a crossroads. Our survival hinges on one person Yafei."

Taking a deep breath, he declared, "From today onward, I fully support Yafei as the new leader of the Mittel Clan."

His words sent shockwaves through the room.

"I've said my piece. Now who agrees, and who opposes?"
