Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: The Emperor’s Tomb

Chapter 64: The Emperor's Tomb

"Your… body?" Xiao Yan felt his scalp tingle with unease, a chill creeping through his limbs. Slowly, he turned his head back toward the Yin Yang Evil Saint.

Seeing no sinister expression on the Evil Saint's face, Xiao Yan managed to calm down slightly, but a sense of fear lingered in his heart.

"Roar!" The towering red haired monstrosity let out a guttural growl, its deep and menacing sound stirring violent and murderous urges within Xiao Yan.

"I'll handle the next part. Young man, I'll need to borrow your body," the Evil Saint's voice echoed.

Without waiting for Xiao Yan's agreement, the Evil Saint's spirit plunged directly into his body.

"Hey !" Xiao Yan barely had time to react before he felt the immense presence invading his being. The sheer magnitude of the Saint's ancient spirit was overwhelming for a mere seven star alchemist like himself.

"Don't resist. Consider this your opportunity," the Evil Saint reassured.

Even though Xiao Yan tried to fight back, his efforts were futile.

"After a millennium of decay, it's time to resolve the root of this curse. Now, I shall confront the karma of that fateful event," the Evil Saint declared with a powerful voice.

Suddenly, the entire ancient city seemed to pause for a moment.

"Old friend, after a thousand years, let us fight side by side once more," the Evil Saint murmured as he raised his hands.

The two fish, one black and one white, floating above the monstrous creature's head began to stir.

In an instant, flames of black and white erupted from the sky, the earth, and unseen corners of the space, rushing toward the Evil Saint. These flames, the essence of Yin Yang Dual Flame, had been accumulating in this realm for over a thousand years.

As the surging flames converged, they formed an ocean of fire. Within moments, the fire coalesced into two enormous dragons, one black and one white, each spanning over a hundred meters in length.

The red haired monstrosity growled, its crimson eyes gleaming with intensity. The departure of the two fish seemed to grant it newfound agility, and its movements caused cracks to ripple through the space around it.

"I refuse to believe you're as terrifying as you once were!" the Evil Saint bellowed, his hands moving in intricate patterns.

The two fire dragons sprang to life with fluid movements, blocking the creature's approach.

"The curse that has lingered for a millennium… ends today!" With a roar, the Evil Saint manipulated the fire dragons to encircle the creature.

"Yin Yang Soul Lock Formation!" The dragons intertwined, forming a spinning Taiji symbol that descended upon the red haired creature.

As the Taiji symbol enveloped the monstrosity, black and white flames poured into its body. Slowly, the creature's movements ground to a halt, and it collapsed onto the ground.

"Is it over?" The Evil Saint gazed at the fallen figure with a hint of melancholy.

But the next moment, the dark mist covering the Yin side began to churn violently. Like a tide, it surged toward the monstrous corpse.

"As expected, it's not so easy to dispel," the Evil Saint sighed bitterly.

The residual flames in the area gathered once more, forming another black and white dragon.

The dragon roared, opening its maw to create a powerful suction that began drawing in all the black mist.

Within moments, the darkened Yin side of the city grew clear, its once obscured features now visible.

This side mirrored the Yang side but for the faint black streams lingering in the sky. These streams, though cold and oppressive, lacked the malevolence and chaos of the earlier mist.

The fire dragon, now bloated with the consumed mist, began writhing uncontrollably.

"Even my mastery of fire cannot suppress this power," the Evil Saint muttered.

If the dragon were allowed to return to his mutated corpse, the creature would reawaken, more powerful than before. Its rampage would bring destruction, leaving even Dou Saints powerless to contain it.

But releasing the dragon's energy would turn the area into a demonic wasteland, driving anyone below the Dou Venerate level mad.

At that moment, the Evil Saint demonstrated the ruthless decisiveness of a legend. With a wave of his hand, he opened a spatial tunnel.

"Go!"

The dragon was hurled into the void, vanishing along with its volatile energy. With its departure, the Yin side grew tranquil. The mutated corpse also fell still, seemingly pacified.

"It's finally sealed," the Evil Saint murmured, his figure growing even fainter.

"What… was all that?" Xiao Yan asked, unable to contain his curiosity as he gazed at the exhausted figure of the Evil Saint.

The Saint landed on the ground, his expression complex.

"Long ago, I was betrayed… by a woman of the Yao Clan," he began.

Xiao Yan raised an eyebrow. "How is that connected to all this? Don't tell me… the Yao Clan's matriarch?"

The Evil Saint nodded solemnly. "For a century, I roamed Central Plains, unrivaled. Yet, fate delivered me a humiliation I never expected a betrayal by someone I trusted. Even I wasn't immune to the chaos of human relationships."

Xiao Yan said nothing, silently listening to the tale.

"For years, I was consumed by despair. But despair gave way to ambition I sought to become stronger. As a Dou Saint, standing atop the continent, opportunities for rapid growth are rare."

The Evil Saint's eyes turned distant as he recounted, "In my pursuit, I ventured across the continent. In the southeastern lands, I stumbled upon a ruin… an Emperor's Tomb."

Xiao Yan's eyes widened.

An Emperor's Tomb final resting place of a Dou Emperor! In today's world, even the faintest trace of a Dou Emperor could cause an uproar across the land.

The Evil Saint continued, undeterred by Xiao Yan's astonishment.

"I thought I had discovered an unparalleled opportunity. But what awaited me was disaster. For within that tomb… I found the corpse of the Dou Emperor himself!"
