Chapter 5 - Otherworldly Soul

[ Otherworldly Soul (Legendary Title) ]

[ You possess deep connections with the multiverse. You don't follow the norms of any single world. ]

[ Title Benefits: Partially Locked. ]

[ Benefit 1: The worldly debuffs are reversed for you. ]

[ Benefit 2: Locked. ]

[ Benefit 3: Locked. ]

[ Active Worldly Debuffs:

0.5x Exp gain.

0.5x Connection to Mana.

0.1x Magic stats ]

Contrary to my lofty expectations, this legendary title was simply awesome.

Looking at 0.1x magic stats debuff, now I knew why my Magic stat was at 0.

I probably didn't use any additional points on it, and I was too low levelled to gain stats into it automatically.

By my logic of games, if I guess that my natural magic stat was 0, and I gained 3 stats in total for 3 levels, with the debuff, it was only 0.3 stat.

It was still closer to 0, so rounding it up, it was obvious why it was 0.

Though my theory was still based on guess work.

Not that it really mattered.

After all, a new window soon popped up.

[ Benefit 1 has been applied. ]

[ Reversed debuffs… -> buffs. ]

[ Active Worldly Buffs:

2x Exp gain.

2x Connection to mana.

10x Magic stats. ]

A grin crept up my face seeing the buffs, at least I had some cheats to rely on, just like in the stories.

Especially keeping in mind that it was just my first blessing, the remaining 2 were still unknown.

I took another drag of my cigarette, casually ashing it on the sink and then turning on the tap to get rid of any remains.

Now I was lost, not knowing what to do, but my lovely sweetheart was finally out of the bathroom as I heard the sound of the door.

I walked towards the room, finding her stepping out with just a towel draped around her assets, leaving her thigh and arms bare.

But then I suddenly remembered that I was smoking, and she would naturally notice the smell.

So, I coughed exaggeratedly, exhaling a cloud of smoke.

"Aaron?" She seemed surprised, moving towards me with a burst of speed, as I was almost unable to see her considering how fast she moved.

Her hand shot to grab my right hand, which held the cigarette, looking at which she was speechless.

"Did you not have enough last time? Do you want to get sick again?" she said exasperatedly, "How many times do I need to tell you that don't touch my things, Aaron."

I was still reeling from the shock about how fast she was, to realize that she had taken away the half finished cig from me.

"I am telling you last time, don't even try to take another until your stamina is over 50. It's bad for your health." She scolded me.

"But I was just curious…" I looked at her with a sad expression, which was quite genuine as I was liking the strong taste of the cig.

How dare she take it away?!

"Shut up. Did you eat?" she waved off my buts, walking past me towards the kitchen to find the two plates on the counter.

"Mm? Did you reheat it yet?" she asked, confused about not finding any smoke coming out of the food.

"Not yet, I was going to but then you came." I answered.

"You should've done that instead of touching my stuff," She said with an exaggerated sigh, taking a drag of the cig right in front of my eyes.

'Ugh, don't rub it in my face.' I sigh, ignoring the fact that my first cig was blatantly stolen from my fingers.

Though she took my sigh in another way, heaving a longer sigh in response before aggressively pushing open the microwave's door and shoving in the food.

There was no need for any switch to turn it on, after all, as she just clicked some buttons and the microwave lit up, two dishes rotating inside peacefully.

"Can you please just bring it to the bed while I dress, love?" she spoke with a fake, forced smile.

'Oh? Is it like that?'

A realisation passed through my mind. Now I understood how to cope with the dynamics much better.

I just had to channel the actions of my ex!

"No need for sarcasm, you know. I will bring it. Just ask nicely..." I reply with a click of tongue, inwardly laughing.

I watched annoyance pass on Claire's face, as I chuckle in my mind, I can understand those emotions perfectly, I have been on the receiving end as well.

But just like the past me, there wasn't much she could say unless she wanted to break up.

And just like the past me, she didn't want to.

"Sorry sorry, just bring it. Please?" she sighed, walking away towards the room.

I chuckled, waiting in the kitchen till I heard a ding, before taking out the warm food and carrying it into the bedroom on a tray.

"Thank you." Claire smiled as she took a plate for herself.

She had already dressed in a sexy blue crop top with a pair of shorts.

It was a simple dress, but it looked absolutely gorgeous on her.

I also took a dish and began to eat, marvelling at the top-notch taste of this world's food.

Or maybe the tastebuds of this body weren't as fucked up as mine used to be.

Whatever the reason, the food was amazing, and it tasted even better as I had a beauty to admire while eating.

I could've channeled more of my ex's antics and tried to act more lovey-dovey, which might have pleased Claire, as it used to work on me as well, but I felt too cringe to even try.

Thus, the lunch was spent in silence with occasional words exchanged between us.

I was feeling quite satisfied with my current life, it was much more comfortable with my past one, but then I realized that I had much more to see.

This was just a beginning, which prompted me to smile at Claire and ask her what her next plans were.

"Hmm, ohh yeah, I forgot to tell you." Claire nodded in response, "I actually agreed to run a labyrinth with Eva today."

I had no clue who Eva was, but I did know what a labyrinth was.

Labyrinths were like the dungeons or towers in Earthly fantasy stories or games, consisting of countless challenges and different amounts of floors that needed to be cleared by raid parties.

Our city, Snombi, also had a labyrinth quite close.

It was a medium difficulty one, having 50 floors.

It had already been cleared once, and was currently in a Tamed state.

Which simply meant that there was no threat of any monster breakthrough from it, as it had already been conquered.

Now it only served as the practice and hunting ground for newbie raiders and hunters.

Having my newly acquired buffs in my mind, I flashed Claire a bright smile.

"Can I come along too?" I asked excitedly.
