Chapter 70: Tang Wulin vs. Sea God Tang San!

Even Wu Zhangkong almost lost his composure upon seeing the reward list—it was enough to make anyone want to join the Spirit Pagoda on the spot.

Sighing, he muttered, "Perhaps the only place that can compare to the Spirit Pagoda now is the Tang Sect's Ice-Fire Yin Yang Well."

The Spirit Ascension Platform, he explained, was built from fragments of the God Realm—the largest chunk, in fact. The immortal energy stored within could only be absorbed by true deities.

Every soul master's cultivation and advancement ultimately derived from that same immortal essence.

And as for their "little Dragon God," he had once absorbed all of that divine energy… causing a full-scale explosion of the original Spirit Ascension Platform.

The child had simply drained the place dry and walked away, while the Spirit Pagoda afterward had to rebuild everything from scratch.

Led by Wu Zhangkong, everyone soon arrived at the Pagoda's interior—a path so familiar now they could walk it blindfolded.

A sterile, high-tech chamber awaited them. Rows of sleek nutrient pods lined the walls. The teacher handed each of them a blue, ear-hook-style communicator.

"Federation-issued internal link," Wu Zhangkong explained. "It also logs your identity."

"Now—get inside."

The students blinked skeptically.

Xie Xie blurted out, "Wait! You're telling us to lie down in coffins?"

Wu Zhangkong didn't even bother replying—he just kicked Xie Xie straight into the pod and shut the lid.

"Do I have to throw each one of you in myself?"

The rest scrambled in at once.

Meanwhile, Jiang Chen, the Snow Empress, and Gu Yue casually pulled out their phones. Their third eyes flashed faintly—and all three vanished on the spot.

Wu Zhangkong froze for a second. "Hmm. I didn't realize the Pagoda's neural-link system had advanced that far…"

He shrugged, climbed into a pod himself, and closed his eyes.

When everyone awoke, they found themselves standing before a colossal structure—a hundred-story tower, stretching endlessly into a luminous blue sky.

A lantern-bearing elder greeted them.

"Welcome to the Tower of Heaven. Please register your challenges."

Wu Zhangkong nodded. "This," he explained, "is the Pagoda's Virtual Combat Arena—the Tower of Heaven."

Every ten floors represented a tier of power, each filled with virtual opponents drawn from history's greatest soul masters.

So far, not a single person had ever cleared the entire hundred floors… because the final stage featured a handful of unbeatable opponents.

Names carved into legend:

Sea God Tang San, Spirit Ice Douluo Huo Yuhao, and others—nine figures in total, including the original Shrek Seven Devils plus Huo Yuhao and Tang Wutong.

Tang Wulin originally intended to pick someone simple—someone like Sword Maniac Douluo Ji Juechen, who, like him, had started with a mere innate rank-three soul power.

Ji Juechen had clawed his way up to Titled Douluo through sheer will, a perfect benchmark for Tang Wulin to measure his progress.

But before he could confirm the choice, Jiang Chen interrupted with a grin.

"Wulin, challenge Tang San instead. His martial soul's the same as yours—Blue Silver Grass. You'll learn more from that."

To be honest, even Jiang Chen didn't know how the Spirit Pagoda had acquired a virtual battle projection of Tang San—but it sounded entertaining.

He wanted to see it.

Tang Wulin vs. Tang San.

More importantly, he knew Tang Wulin had been struggling to find the divine materials needed to unlock the Golden Dragon King's seals. Perhaps this "boss fight" would be just the push he needed.

And what if the Tang God King inside Wulin's consciousness tried to help his son during the match?

Now that would be worth watching.

Wu Zhangkong agreed smoothly. "He's right. Sea God Tang San needs no introduction—the leader of the first Shrek Seven Devils, founder of the Tang Sect, and later the Sea God himself.

"His martial soul was Blue Silver Grass—though not the ordinary kind. He possessed the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline."

He added, half to himself, "The Tang Sect insisted for generations that only Blue Silver martial soul holders could inherit the master's position. That stubborn rule nearly destroyed them… until Spirit Ice Douluo Huo Yuhao intervened and saved the sect from extinction."

Then, inwardly, he sighed.

Once again, Tang Sect had vanished from the world. Would it ever rise again?

And worse—the Ice-Fire Yin Yang Well, that mythical land of elixirs… gone. He'd never even seen it once in his life.

If only he knew that Jiang Chen had already stripped it bare—its twin Dragon Kings' corpses relocated, its energy absorbed by Ah Yin, leaving nothing but rampant Jade-Scaled Sevenfold Flowers overrunning the valley.

But Jiang Chen wasn't worried about the Federation discovering them; he had already tipped off the Ten Great Beasts' Fifth Seat, the new monarch of plant-type soul beasts—the Myriad Demon King.

Those leftover twenty-thousand-year blossoms would be taken care of.

Wu Zhangkong continued, "To face the Sea God himself, wielder of the Blue Silver Emperor—there's no better training for you.

"And one more thing—don't underestimate the Sword Maniac Douluo Ji Juechen just because he started with rank-three soul power. Among peers at every tier, he ranked at the very top. A single misstep against him, and you're finished."

Tang Wulin nodded thoughtfully.

"Blue Silver Emperor, huh…?"

He felt a strange stirring in his blood.

He murmured inside his mind, "Old Tang… how do I compare to the Sea God? Can I beat him?"

The Tang God King froze. For once, he didn't know how to answer.

After a pause, he cleared his throat awkwardly.

"Maybe… challenge Ghost Shadow Douluo Zhu Zhuqing instead? She's, uh… one of the weaker Seven Devils. I could give you some pointers—I know plenty about her style."

Having his own son fight his divine self? Now that was awkward beyond measure.

But before he could protest again—

Ding!

[Identity Confirmed: Tang Wulin – Eastsea Academy, Class Zero, Year Two.]

[Selected Opponent: Sea God Tang San!]

The world spun—light exploded—and the next instant, Tang Wulin stood in the virtual arena.

Before him materialized a tall, stern-faced man—his features painfully familiar.

The first ten floors were intentionally easy: starter levels under rank 10, with no soul skills.

Tang Wulin didn't even bother summoning his martial soul.

One punch was enough to shatter the projection of Level 1—Sea God Tang San.

[Congratulations, Tang Wulin, for clearing Floor One of the Tower of Heaven.]

Ten floors flew by in minutes.

Finally, another familiar figure appeared—this time, radiating faint golden light.

Level 10—Sea God Tang San, with a single yellow soul ring glowing beneath his feet, raised his hand.

"Face my first soul skill—Blue Silver Bind!"
