Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: I Do Whatever I Want

R-RING! R-RING! R-RING!

The sound of the loud alarm clock made Alex impatient.

"Who set the alarm!"

"It's Sunday! Can't you let me sleep properly?"

He climbed out of bed, opened his eyes, and in his blurry vision, he saw a room decorated in a European style.

Alex froze for a moment.

He rubbed his eyes.

'This isn't my... room, is it?'

Besides that, there was a sky blue battle suit hanging on the wall, with a Stars and Stripes cape draped behind it. Next to it were a golden belt, and red gloves and boots neatly arranged.

"A costume prop?"

Alex walked over, picked up the sky blue battle suit, and held it up against himself.

Then he turned around and looked at the full length mirror on the other side of the wall.

"HOLY SHIT!"

In the mirror, he saw a blond Caucasian man. He was instantly startled.

He waved his hand and the man in the mirror made the exact same movement.

"Is that... me?"

Alex couldn't help pinching his own cheek.

'It hurt a little.'

'Doesn't feel like a dream.'

'Did I transmigrate?'

At that moment, a woman outside the bedroom door spoke in English, "Homelander, I hope I'm not disturbing you."

"But there's a press conference later that requires your attendance."

"Ms. Madelyn felt it was still necessary to remind you."

'Wait!'

'Who?'

'Homelander? You're calling me?'

'I became Homelander?'

Alex looked at the mirror, "Then can I shoot lasers from my eyes?"

The moment the thought appeared, he saw the man in the mirror's eyes light up, flashing red.

The next instant—

Two red beams shot out, blasting the mirror into pieces.

The woman outside heard the noise and hurriedly called out, "Homelander, are you okay?"

Alex quickly said, "I'm fine."

Then he looked at the battle suit in his hands, and the scorched wall with a missing chunk, accepting the fact that—

"I transmigrated into Homelander!"

Homelander was a superhuman in The Boys, and one of the strongest superhuman in the show, possibly the ceiling level among superhumans.

He was extremely petty, held grudges, and had a severe mommy issues.

And he was arrogant, proud, and unhinged.

In short, his personality was absolutely awful.

Alex really envied his superpowers, but becoming Homelander was another matter entirely.

Now, whether he wanted it or not, he had already become Homelander.

.

.

.

A moment later, Alex walked out of the room. He had already merged with Homelander's memories, knew what abilities he had, and how to use them.

At the same time, he also knew that the woman in front of him, wearing glasses and holding a tablet, was called Ashley.

She was the secretary and assistant of Vought's vice president, Madelyn Stillwell.

Ashley carefully hid her fear, put on a professional smile, and handed over the tablet, "Homelander, take a look. This is what we're announcing today."

"Later you can go to the venue and do a rehearsal first."

"Oh right, this afternoon—"

Alex raised one finger and gently pressed it against Ashley's lips.

His other hand was behind his back, and he smiled, showing his shiny teeth, "My dear Ashley, right now I have something more important to do."

"Please don't disturb me."

Ashley shook her head and asked in confusion, "What do you need to do?"

"That has nothing to do with you," Alex walked toward the window at the end of the corridor.

Ashley hurriedly said, "Please come back early. Don't be late. This was instructed by Ms. Madelyn."

"I do whatever I want. Don't point fingers at me."

"This is the FIRST TIME—

"—and the LAST TIME."

Alex smiled and then he crashed through the window.

BANG!

The window shattered.

Alex turned into a streak of blue light and vanished into the sky.

Wind blew in from outside the building, blowing Ashley into a mess.

"He's crazy!"

"He's gone crazy again!"

———

[In the Sky]

"Woohoo!"

Alex cheered. He had always dreamed of being able to soar freely in the sky like a bird.

Now he finally did it.

Homelander's flight ability let him fly freely through the sky at extreme speed.

After flying for a while, Alex looked toward higher altitude, wanting to test the limits of his abilities.

So he suddenly shot upward.

The distance from the ground kept increasing, and in the blink of an eye, he had already flown to over ten thousand meters.

But he kept going higher.

Frost began forming on his battle suit.

The next second.

Flames appeared around his body. He had entered the atmosphere.

Alex narrowed his eyes and suddenly sped up.

In one burst, he broke out of the atmosphere and entered outer space.

He discovered that he could actually survive in outer space.

This was already the same as Superman.

He looked at the infinitely deep starry sky and wondered if he could just keep flying into the distance like this.

Then he shook his head.

'Doing that doesn't seem to have much meaning.'

He tried firing lasers in all directions. One red beam after another howled out, slicing through space and disappearing into the depths of the cosmos.

Through repeated attempts, Alex discovered that his laser eyes could adjust their power.

The power was roughly divided into three levels.

The lowest level was "non-lethal mode," the middle level was "lethal mode," and the highest level was "destruction mode."

After experimenting for a while, Alex planned to return, when suddenly a message floated up in front of his eyes.

[Laser Eyes: Proficiency 8/10]

'Proficiency? What the hell?', Alex froze.

Then another message appeared.

[Flight: Proficiency 4/10]

[Warning: 1 hour 07 minutes until a disaster event occurs.]

'This... Could it be that when proficiency is maxed, it can level up?'

'Can Homelander level up into Superman?', Now that, really got Alex excited.

Originally, he thought Homelander was just a downgraded version of Superman.

Being equivalent to an army by himself was true. But against extremely powerful weapons, like nuclear bombs, who knew if he would be blown to death.

But now, this Homelander could still level up. That was a completely different matter.

As long as he could level up to Superman, tanking a nuke would be nothing.

When that time came, he could really do whatever he wanted. Truly do whatever he pleased.

'But that warning... What disaster event is it? Forget it, whatever!'

'I'm already Homelander. I have the power to handle everything.'

Alex closed his eyes and softly said, "This is real freedom. Ultimate freedom."

"Hahahahaha!"

He let out a burst of laughter, howled as he flew back into the atmosphere, turning into a point of flame and disappearing.

———

[Press Conference Venue]

Ashley was so anxious she felt like an ant on a hot pan.

Suddenly she heard the sound of rushing wind, and then a figure descended from the sky, lightly landing on the ground.

'Homelander is here!', She finally let out a breath of relief.

Then she led the way in front, "Please follow me."

Alex walked into the venue with a smile. The moment he appeared, he murdered countless rolls of film.

The flashes didn't stop for almost five minutes straight.

Alex smiled at camera after camera and walked to the podium.

He gently tapped one of the microphones and said: ["Sorry to keep everyone waiting."]

Ashley also said, "Next, everyone is free to ask questions."

Immediately a reporter asked, "Homelander, can you tell us about your next plans?"

"For example, new movies, merchandise, or maybe ice cream named after you?"

Alex looked around, without the slightest bit of nervousness. Overwhelming power gave him the confidence to face the world head on.

He smiled and said, ["What I'm about to say next, you might think I'm joking."]

["But I'm serious."]

"Plans?"

["Yes, there is one."]

["But it's not movies, not merchandise, and definitely not ice cream."]

["We are superheroes. We are not celebrities, and not clowns made to entertain the masses."]

["So my next plan is to straighten out The Seven. I will lead this team to do what it's supposed to do."]

["And not make those damn pathetic movies!"]

The venue instantly fell silent.

———

[The Seven's Headquarters]

Vought vice president Madelyn had just finished pumping milk for her child, put on a coat, and then saw Homelander's outrageous statements at the press conference on the live broadcast.

"What the hell!"

"What's wrong with him?"

Madelyn grabbed her phone, called her assistant Ashley, and roared, "Why did you let him say those things."

"What's wrong with him!"

At that moment, a gentle voice sounded from the phone, ["I'm perfectly normal, Ms. Madelyn."]

["And don't blame Ashley. This was my own decision. It has nothing to do with her."]

Madelyn's expression immediately softened, "John, are you troubled by something?"

"It's okay. You can talk to me. I'll be waiting for you in my office."

"Can you hand the phone to Ashley?"

["Wait a moment."]

A moment later, Ashley's voice sounded, ["Ma'am, I'm here."]

Madelyn said with a dark expression, "Tell the reporters that Homelander was just joking with them earlier."

"Next, we will announce Homelander's latest plans."

"Including one movie, two TV series, and a whole line of merchandise. All things they're interested in."

"Damn it! How could you let him say something like that!"
