Chapter 64: Flight Over the Blood Pool
The difference between the killing intent Dugu Feng had upon first entering the City of Slaughter and what he carried now was like the gap between a star and a full moon.
In this city, every kill condensed more killing intent.
This wicked aura constantly corroded soul masters' minds.
But Dugu Feng had gained insight into Jade Phosphor Crimson Poison, attacking poison with poison, allowing him to gather killing intent while keeping his mind clear.
In this moment, his spirit surged. He raised both hands.
The Road of Hell awaits!
"Congratulations, young Poison Demon King!"
The King of Slaughter's sharp, deep voice echoed from every direction in the arena.
All the killing intent present disappeared instantly, suppressed back into the bodies of every soul master.
A figure in a blood-red cloak descended from the sky, hovering above the Hell Slaughter Arena.
"I am delighted to witness the birth of a new Killing God today.
He is the Poison Demon King—a very young Grand Soul Master—soon to be a distinguished guest in the City of Slaughter.
Now, Poison Demon King, I shall open the Road of Hell for you. It will be a terrifying trial. Are you ready?"
He drifted closer, murderous intent rolling off him in waves.
"Any trial—I am ready!" Dugu Feng answered firmly.
At his words, the King no longer hesitated.
Thick red mist spread outward—a blend of wicked and killing energy.
The chill was palpable.
The waves rolled farther, cascading over the stands.
Immediately, every spectator was shrouded in that freezing, evil fog.
Agony followed.
As their spirits were consumed, they fell into madness—tearing their own bodies apart with their last bursts of strength.
Amidself-torturing screams, the Hell Slaughter Arena was awash in crimson.
Blood spilled from the stands, pouring into the center arena, forming streams.
"My subjects! You are fortunate! Witnessing the opening of the Road of Hell is your glory!"
Dugu Feng scoffed inwardly. Madman… glory? More like a sacrifice…
The King's palm flared with red light, infusing the ground below.
Gradually, the spilled blood coalesced into the symbol of a blood-red Nine-Headed Bat King.
The shape solidified—becoming a beast, not just an image.
The bat hovered through the air, then swooped down and wrapped Dugu Feng within its wings.
His mind shuddered—a wave of evil and spiritual poison swept through him.
But at the same moment, his own killing intent surged up in response.
From his initial arrival to his hundred victories, he had accumulated vast, deadly killing intent—now fused seamlessly with his body.
The pressure of the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King compressed his killing intent outward, condensing it into a shimmering white ripple—a barrier that shielded him from outside harm.
Pure killing intent! Dugu Feng realized.
He was lucky to have comprehended Jade Phosphor Crimson Poison. Without it, the release of all his killing intent would have shattered his mind under the spiritual and evil taint.
Normally, the killing intent here carried spiritual and corruptive poison.
But with his own mental poison—one he could control—he had turned those toxins against themselves, purifying his aura.
His killing intent was pure—untainted by demonic energy.
The Asura God's legacy was supposed to be pure killing intent. Only the interference of the Rakshasa God had tainted it, leading every inheritor to absorb impure killing intent—thus falling under the King of Slaughter's control.
As just seen, the King's evil energy had driven all present to self-sacrifice—a mass offering of blood.
Dugu Feng contemplated the white ripples around him. This was the seed of the Killing God Domain—the makings of his very first domain.
Time passed—how long, he could not say. When he opened his eyes, the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King had vanished; the white aura had sunk deep into his soul.
He stood on a circular platform, about five meters in diameter.
The Road of Hell.
Beneath the platform, red light shimmered—he stiffened. This was the City's core blood pool.
All the blood in Bloody Mary gathered here—the origin of the slaughter domain's energy, and the King's own power source.
The King of Slaughter's essence was the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King—naturally a creature of blood. This pool was his haven.
Below—the blood pool. Ahead—a path so narrow it could fit only both feet at once.
Tang San and Hu Liena had walked this road, facing its deadly trials—bats striking from the darkness. Tang San had survived only with secret weapons.
Dugu Feng smirked, releasing his twin serpents into the air—his trusty Nine-Segment Jade Snakes.
Five inches long, miniscule in size—yet both thousand-year soul beasts.
After nearly two years in the city, his own strength had reached level twenty-seven.
Thanks to his Dan Pearl, the snakes' age had climbed to four thousand years.
They were formidable.
With a leap, Dugu Feng landed on the back of his snakes.
"Let's go!"
The Jade Snakes whirled like wind-fire wheels, lifting Dugu Feng off the platform, descending toward the blood pool below.
No need for the treacherous path—flying was so much easier.
The platform lay about a kilometer above the blood pool.
The further down he went, the hotter the air grew—temperature rising swiftly, the atmosphere thickening with heat.
At five hundred meters, Dugu Feng could finally see the pool's surface—calm, veiled in red mist, indicating the heat contained.
He paused, mouth opening, releasing two Dan Pearls.
He tossed one down into the pool.
The fierce heat did nothing—the Dan Pearl absorbed surges of blood energy.
Probing the pearl, Dugu Feng realized this energy was not poison, but raw blood power—a chaotic, violent substance.
Not suitable for his own cultivation, but perhaps perfect for his Jade Snakes.
He let his second Dan Pearl be swallowed by one of the snakes.
Immediately, a hot stream of energy entered the snake, its eyes shining with delight—absorbing the purified blood force.
"This place may be the perfect ground for my Jade Snakes' evolution," Dugu Feng thought, anticipation rising.
