Chapter 62: King of Slaughter — Are You Threatening Me?

The veiled woman in red felt her heart tremble. The aura radiating from Dugu Feng was overwhelming.

At his slightest word, the killing intent around him turned almost tangible, as if poison would erupt from his body at any moment.

She dared not speak further. This was something only the King of Slaughter could handle.

Dugu Feng followed her quietly down the bloodstained streets in front of the Hell Slaughter Arena, turning toward the right.

By doing this, he knew he had undoubtedly drawn the King's attention.

But he also understood that the King of Slaughter had no desire to open the Road of Hell or to see another God of Slaughter created.

As long as Dugu Feng kept winning, confrontation was inevitable.

So why wait? Better to strike first—killing Tang Cheng and forcing Xiong Ba's retreat had already served that purpose.

A Soul Saint and a Contra—if he'd faced them fairly in the arena, victory wasn't guaranteed. Life could only be lived once. Dugu Feng refused to gamble with his.

Now, all he needed was to pass this last trial with the King of Slaughter. Once he did, his journey through the City of Slaughter would be nearly complete.

Moments later, Dugu Feng entered a vast chamber.

The room was bathed in dark red tones. At its center sat a figure cloaked from head to toe in scarlet. The man's eyes shone blood-red, gleaming like pools of liquid fire.

His face was ghostly pale, as if all the blood in his body had drained into his eyes.

"Poison Demon King, you've given me quite a surprise," the King of Slaughter hissed.

His voice was shrill and piercing, shaking the very walls and vibrating in Dugu Feng's ears.

Dugu Feng stepped forward and stopped several meters away, bowing slightly.

"I greet the great King of Slaughter. In the City of Slaughter, killing is not forbidden. There are no laws—only survival by strength.

My actions have not violated any of your rules."

His tone was calm, unwavering.

"Hmph!"

The King let out a cold snort, the air thickening with a scent of blood.

"Still," he said, "your actions displease me. It is rare for someone to cause such chaos here. I'll give you one chance—join the City of Slaughter, and I will appoint you as a guest elder beneath me."

So it had come to this—just like Tang San and Hu Liena before him.

"Your Majesty," Dugu Feng replied with a faint smile, "surely you already know my background. I am the heir of the Dugu Family, a clan with influence across the continent.

There is no possibility that I would remain here permanently."

He refused politely, yet firmly.

The King of Slaughter inhaled slowly. "Once you reach a hundred victories, I could grant you the title of Killing God. You would be free to enter and leave this city as you wish—even reconnect with your family."

Dugu Feng shook his head. "I didn't come here merely for a title.

I came to challenge the Road of Hell itself, to obtain the Killing God Domain.

If Your Majesty grants me that right, then joining the City of Slaughter would not be out of the question."

Of course, he understood the King's true meaning.

That so-called "Killing God title" was meaningless—a symbol without power.

The King's red eyes narrowed. "No one has dared to reject me in a long time."

"Your Majesty," Dugu Feng said suddenly, "are you aware of how the major powers of the continent view the City of Slaughter?"

The red-veiled woman interjected sharply, "And how do they view us?" The King's face betrayed a faint trace of killing intent, but curiosity flickered in his eyes as well.

Dugu Feng smiled faintly. "To them, this place is a paradise for sinners—

a haven for all murderous soul masters.

The great powers once discussed a joint assault to utterly destroy this city of evil.

They failed only because the two strongest factions fell into internal conflict.

But now, under the leadership of that God of Slaughter, Spirit Hall has grown stronger than ever. An attack on this place is only a matter of time."

The veiled woman scoffed. "Nonsense. Even if Spirit Hall is powerful, soul skills are sealed here. They have only one God of Slaughter. How could they possibly stand against us?"

The King said nothing—waiting for Dugu Feng's response.

"Only one?" Dugu Feng's tone carried quiet amusement. "Did you think Tang Cheng appeared here by coincidence?

That Xiahou clansman before his death told me the truth—Tang Cheng came seeking Tang Chen, the grandfather of the current Haotian Sect Master.

Tang Chen, a level ninety-nine Ultimate Douluo, vanished in pursuit of godhood.

And tell me, where on this continent could one possibly seek divinity? The City of Slaughter, of course.

This place… is their prime suspect."

He fabricated smoothly, eyes steady, every word calculated.

The King's glowing red eyes flickered uneasily.

Dugu Feng almost smiled. He had struck the nerve.

The King of Slaughter was haunted by fear of the two Gods of Slaughter—and he, possessing Tang Chen's body, was one of them.

Of course, if Dugu Feng's words hinted that he knew, the King could not afford to ignore him.

But Dugu Feng's face remained calm, unreadable. His acting was flawless.

Then, he continued. "My father once told me that both the Haotian Sect and Spirit Hall sought a certain immortal herb—

one extraordinary enough that even my Dugu Family became involved. Please, take a look, Your Majesty."

From his belt, Dugu Feng produced a single piece of yellow parchment and flicked it forward. It drifted gracefully into the King's hand.

On it was drawn a snow-white plant—its slender leaves elegantly curved like the neck of a swan.

The King's eyes glinted. "What is this?"

"This herb is called Snow Swan's Kiss," Dugu Feng said solemnly. "Both Gods of Slaughter concluded it could destroy the City of Slaughter itself.

Its sole effect is amplification.

My ancestor once obtained one. When a single leaf was added to poison during refinement, the toxicity increased ten thousandfold.

Given that this city's air is saturated with miasma and spiritual poisons, should such a herb be released here, it would magnify their venom instantly.

Everything in this city—including you, Your Majesty—would face extinction.

Even you, pale and bloodless from prolonged consumption of Bloody Mary, would not survive the ten-thousandfold corrosion."

Dugu Feng's tone grew colder with each word.

The King of Slaughter's eyes blazed, shooting two crimson beams that halted just before Dugu Feng's face.

"Are you threatening me?" the King's voice thundered, sharp as a knife.

Dugu Feng held his gaze and smiled faintly. "Threatening you? No.

I'm simply stating the truth.

Even with my current power, a mere Grand Soul Master, I've already managed to activate the spiritual poisons dormant in every soul master across this city.

Does that sound like a threat, Your Majesty?

Rest assured—neither the Haotian Sect nor Spirit Hall has used the Snow Swan's Kiss. My family, too, will never oppose you.

After all, we poison soul masters are shunned by all.

But with you, Great King, our goals may well align. Cooperation would serve us both."

He noted that the King still hadn't attacked—proof that his words had hit their mark. Mentioning Tang Chen and the twin Killing Gods had shaken him profoundly.

Dugu Feng, maintaining his calm exterior, felt certain—information was the sharpest weapon, and he had wielded it perfectly.
