Chapter 79 The Primordial God
"Are you the great Primordial God?" Yu Xiaogang asked cautiously.
Luo Ling opened his mouth but did not answer immediately. After a moment, he gave a slow nod.
Yu Xiaogang had changed too fast for him to react.
Just moments ago, the man had been desperate, on the brink of collapse. Now he was kneeling with a reverent, fanatical look in his eyes. Was this because of the Blood Demon Ritual—or had the Desire Spirit's influence grown even stronger?
"Lord Primordial God, thank you for granting me power!" Yu Xiaogang exclaimed fervently, kneeling to the ground, eyes blazing with emotion.
Luo Ling's lips twitched slightly. Was this, too, the doing of the Desire Spirit?
This version of Yu Xiaogang brought him no satisfaction to torment.
Still, his objective was met.
Yu Xiaogang had broken through with the Blood Demon Ritual, but his inherent talent hadn't improved at all. To continue advancing, he would need to perform the ritual again.
Once Luo Ling left, the effect of his suggestion would fade, and Yu Xiaogang might briefly regain clarity—but Luo Ling wasn't worried. Anyone who had tasted power wouldn't easily go back to being useless.
Bit by bit, Yu Xiaogang would drown in his sea of desire.
Like cross-dressing—there's only "once" and "countless times."
"Lord Primordial God, may I…" Yu Xiaogang's voice trembled with eagerness as he looked up, but Luo Ling struck his neck with his palm, knocking him out instantly.
The goal was achieved; Luo Ling had no interest in chatting further. He feared he might not resist the urge to grind him to dust.
He picked up the Blood Demon Ritual book from the floor, his gaze falling upon the words "Primordial God."
When he first obtained the book, he had been skeptical. Its contents described sacrificing corpses less than twenty-four hours dead to this so-called Primordial God in exchange for power.
The Primordial God—he had never heard of such an entity before. It wasn't mentioned in the original story either.
Still, Luo Ling had tested it using the body of an executed criminal and a few freshly dead soul beasts.
The result had been a success. That was why he had set his sights on Yu Xiaogang.
"Primordial God…" Luo Ling murmured. Outside, the storm had ceased, and moonlight poured into the room.
Beneath the pale light, his figure faded into mist and vanished.
…
The following morning, sunlight streamed through Yu Xiaogang's window.
He awoke groggily, his head throbbing in pain.
Opening his eyes, the first thing he saw was the crimson ritual sigil on the floor.
In an instant, his mind cleared, and he jumped to his feet, staring at the sigil and the ancient-looking book at its center.
Scenes from the previous night flashed through his memory like a revolving lantern.
Yu Xiaogang's face changed several times before he finally raised his hand and felt the soul power within him.
Level 30.
His eyes welled with tears—after so many years, he had finally broken through his bottleneck!
But moments later, his expression shifted again. Staring at the blood-stained circle and the book, he slowly picked it up with trembling hands.
"Primordial God… So, this world truly has more than just the Angel God of Spirit Hall!" Yu Xiaogang murmured, his voice full of awe and excitement.
He felt as though he had uncovered one of the world's secrets—but also committed a grave taboo.
Strength gained through human sacrifice and blood rituals was forbidden everywhere. If discovered, he would be hunted to death.
After a long silence, Yu Xiaogang carefully placed the book into his soul tool, then cleaned the blood from the floor and quietly left the room.
From the branch of a nearby tree, a crow watched him store the book away, and Luo Ling's lips curved into a smile.
…
Two days later, Luo Ling returned to Soto City.
The moment he entered, he sensed a familiar aura approaching.
In an alley, a dark figure appeared by his side.
"Your Highness, the Holy Son," the figure greeted.
"Have they returned from the Star Dou Forest?" Luo Ling asked calmly.
"They have, but something unexpected happened along the way," Ghost Douluo nodded, then shook his head.
"That hundred-thousand-year soul beast was captured by another one—the Titan Giant Ape—but strangely enough, it returned later," he said with a note of confusion.
"Returned?" Luo Ling frowned slightly, surprised by Xiao Wu's choice.
He had already told her everything she needed to know. Yet it seemed that this ten-thousand-year-old little rabbit wasn't afraid at all.
He shook his head slightly. He had done more than enough. If she died later, it wouldn't be his problem.
"Anything else?" Luo Ling asked again.
"There is. Tang Hao's son, Tang San, possesses a strange weapon that requires no soul power but poses great danger to ordinary soul masters."
"You mean hidden weapons, right?"
"You know of them, Your Highness?" Ghost Douluo sounded surprised.
"Of course I do. And soon, those things will belong to Spirit Hall," Luo Ling said faintly. The Evil Mage's identity would soon resurface.
He wondered—would Tang Hao show up when he beat Tang San senseless?
The thought made Luo Ling a little excited.
"Also, word of Tang San and the hundred-thousand-year soul beast has been sent to Her Holiness the Pope," Ghost Douluo added.
"I understand. Thank you, Uncle Ghost. Continue operating in the shadows," Luo Ling replied before stepping out of the alley.
Without stopping, he made his way toward Shrek Academy.
As he entered, he spotted Oscar standing beside Ning Rongrong.
"Miss Rongrong, it's such a fine day today. How about we have a meal together?" Oscar said, striking what he thought was a charming pose.
Ning Rongrong shot him a cold, disgusted look.
Then her eyes brightened as she saw Luo Ling walking toward her.
"Brother Ling! You're back!" Ning Rongrong exclaimed, running up and grabbing his arm.
Luo Ling smiled. "I'm back."
"My compensation?" Ning Rongrong asked bluntly.
Leaning closer, she whispered, "I kept an eye on that Tang San for you, didn't I?"
Luo Ling looked awkward. He had completely forgotten about that promise. But when she mentioned Tang San, an idea suddenly struck him.
"Rongrong, I'll give you your compensation later."
"You didn't forget, right?" Ning Rongrong pouted suspiciously.
Luo Ling chuckled softly. "You went to the Star Dou Forest with Tang San—you must've seen his hidden weapons, yes?"
"What do you think of them?"
"His hidden weapons?" Ning Rongrong blinked, then nodded seriously. "They're powerful!"
"Then how about I give you those as compensation? The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan lacks offensive means. Hidden weapons would fill that gap perfectly," Luo Ling said smoothly.
"But… those hidden weapons belong to Tang San, don't they?"
"They won't for much longer." Luo Ling smiled mysteriously and said nothing more.
Not far away, Oscar was already walking toward them.
