Chapter 25: Bibi Dong Decides to Abandon Yu Xiaogang
Inside, Luo Ling was celebrating inwardly.
He finally understood why Bibi Dong had just referred to Yu Xiaogang as a "worthless man."
That would've been unthinkable before.
In the original timeline, Bibi Dong had always regarded Yu Xiaogang as a genius of martial soul theory—she would never have spoken so harshly.
It seemed this report had opened her eyes to Yu Xiaogang's true nature. Of course, Luo Ling's psychological influence had likely played a part too.
He smiled to himself.
Though his heart was full of delight, his expression was righteous indignation.
"Teacher! That Yu Xiaogang is unforgivable! He didn't just abandon you—he humiliated his own wife at the wedding!"
"Even if the two were cousins, to turn tail and run without a word—how disgraceful!"
"How do you think others view this Liu Erlong woman now? He could've annulled the engagement honorably, but instead he fled, leaving a mess."
Luo Ling's outraged voice echoed through the hall.
Chrysanthemum Douluo was stunned, while Bibi Dong clenched her teeth, trembling with fury.
The image of Yu Xiaogang abandoning Liu Erlong overlapped in her mind with the memory of him leaving her all those years ago.
It made her seethe.
"Teacher, are you just going to let him go unpunished?" Luo Ling pressed on, striking while the iron was hot. He intended to turn her completely against Yu Xiaogang—there would be no turning back.
Even Bibi Dong hesitated. For a moment, she genuinely wanted Yu Xiaogang torn apart. But he was, after all, a member of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.
Though banished, his father Yu Yuanzhen still led that clan—and he would never sit by and watch his son be slain.
Nor would Qian Daoliu allow Spirit Hall to openly wage war against one of the upper three sects. With the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan possibly getting involved, the consequences would be catastrophic.
"Luo Ling, Yu Xiaogang is still of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan…" Bibi Dong began, frustrated.
"Teacher, you're worried the clan will protect him?" Luo Ling replied knowingly but didn't back down.
His crimson eyes glinted coldly as he said, "Then we just make sure the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan has to abandon him."
Bibi Dong frowned. "You speak too easily. Yu Xiaogang is Yu Yuanzhen's son—and Yu Yuanzhen is the sect master."
"So what?" Luo Ling answered coolly. "Yu Xiaogang may be the clan leader's son, but what happens if he becomes a heretic soul master—a public enemy of the world?"
Bibi Dong froze. Even Chrysanthemum Douluo looked shocked, staring at Luo Ling in disbelief.
"There were already rumors in Notting City that Yu Xiaogang practiced forbidden arts," Luo Ling continued. "What if those rumors became the truth—before everyone's eyes?"
"Who would dare shelter a man branded an evil soul master?"
"At that point, Yu Xiaogang's reputation would crumble. His precious name and theories—everything he values most—would be shattered. Isn't that a fate worse than death?"
"Luo Ling…" Bibi Dong whispered, stunned. She could hardly believe such calculating words were coming from a seven-year-old child.
Immediately, Luo Ling feigned innocence. "Teacher, after all he's done—how can he go unpunished? Let me handle it. I won't let Yu Xiaogang get away unscathed."
His tone was so earnest, so impassioned, that Bibi Dong was moved. Her heart trembled; once again she felt that taking Luo Ling as her disciple had been the best decision of her life.
"Hmm," she said softly, her anger cooling into thoughtfulness. "Didn't Yu Xiaogang take on a student with full innate soul power in Notting City? I assume he intends to shine in the Continental Soul Master Academy Tournament—prove his theory's validity."
"That's right!" Luo Ling's eyes flickered with a scheming light. "All we need to do is make sure that he and his disciple are recognized as evil soul masters during the tournament."
"Luo Ling! Stay out of this," Bibi Dong said sternly, though worry showed in her expression. "I don't want you endangering yourself."
"Don't worry, Teacher," Luo Ling reassured her with an easy smile. "Leave it to me."
It was evident now—Bibi Dong had truly given up on Yu Xiaogang.
And that suited Luo Ling perfectly. He was already thinking about the book hidden within his spatial device—the Blood Demon Ritual.
He couldn't wait to put it to use.
…
Back in his residence, Luo Ling's mood was nothing short of jubilant.
To make Bibi Dong renounce Yu Xiaogang completely—that was his greatest victory yet.
He had previously worried. What if, during the tournament, striking against Yu Xiaogang earned him Bibi Dong's wrath?
But not now.
Now, he would be acting under her unspoken permission.
He sat on his bed, a sly smile tugging at his lips, and once again took out the crimson-bound Blood Demon Ritual.
If he planned to use this forbidden text to ruin Yu Xiaogang utterly, he needed to study it first.
And so, time flowed quietly.
Five months passed in the blink of an eye.
During those months, Bibi Dong's care for Luo Ling grew deeper than ever.
He, in turn, became increasingly integrated within Spirit Hall.
The Soul of Desire's charm-like aura worked wonders—even those Title Douluo who had once feared him for his control over the Threads of the Soul had warmed up, treating him with brotherly camaraderie.
…
Within Spirit Hall, inside a private palace, Luo Ling opened his eyes from meditation.
His spirit power had finally reached level twenty. At eight years old, this was a remarkable achievement.
A year had nearly passed since he joined Spirit Hall. In that time, his cultivation had risen by seven full levels.
Thanks to Spirit Hall's secret techniques and simulated training environments, the progress was astonishing.
Smiling in satisfaction, Luo Ling stepped down from his bed.
Beside it sat three books.
One was the Blood Demon Ritual.
The other two had been recent discoveries—a poison compendium and a text on soul-related phenomena.
The poison tome described methods to counteract the buildup of toxins within poison-attributed martial souls.
Perfect, considering his plans for the Icefire Yin-Yang Well and his future encounter with Dugu Bo. With this knowledge, handling that old poison expert would be easy.
As for the soul-related text—it contained invaluable insight into the Threads of the Soul.
It referred to them as the Soul Strings. Initially, Luo Ling had read it idly. But the deeper he went, the more intrigued he became.
The Soul Strings, it wrote, represented the very essence of a being's spirit. Almost no one could perceive them—much less control them.
Through them, one could sense another's thoughts—peer into their mind.
The realization hit Luo Ling hard. He remembered clearly how, during his battle with the thousand-year Crimson Flame Lion, he had predicted its attacks through this link.
Even that alone was terrifying—but this book hinted it could go further.
Through the Soul Strings, one could forge deeper psychic contact—almost like rifling through another's memories.
He had tested it already, on a low-year Soft Bone Rabbit.
What he saw were fragments of memory—images of grazing in fields and being hand-fed. Mundane, yet proof of concept.
The ability to read memories was real.
As he stared at the books lined neatly on his bedside table, new ideas began taking shape in Luo Ling's mind.
