Lara's POV
I should have expected my father to maintain his arrogance even now. How was I blind to his inflated ego for so long? I suppose when you've only known men like my father, Dion, and Gerry, you don't understand that true Alphas exist until you witness one firsthand. Until I met the Murphy family, until I saw what genuine leadership and love looked like, I had no frame of reference for how inadequate my father truly was.
Watching Uncle Andrew mock my father doesn't shock me anymore. After everything I've learned about their history, after hearing the truth about what my father did to our family, I understand why Uncle Andrew despises him so deeply.
Unlike during Gerry's chaotic trial, Poe and his enforcement team have my father completely restrained today. Three guards surround him, their grip unwavering.
"Settle down immediately or you'll be restrained further," Poe growls, the bruising on his jaw from Gerry's attack still visible and dark.
