The truth didn't arrive all at once.
It slipped in slowly—
in moments when pretending felt heavier than admitting.
Aira noticed it when Reyhan started finishing her sentences.
When silence between them no longer needed filling.
When the thought of losing this finally scared her more than naming it.
They were sitting on the library steps, the place where everything always seemed quieter.
"You ever think about what would've happened if we hadn't stopped talking that day?" Reyhan asked suddenly.
Aira looked at him.
"Yes," she said.
"More than I like to admit."
He nodded.
"I think we would've lost something important."
"Or ourselves," she added.
Reyhan exhaled slowly.
"There's something I haven't said yet," he admitted.
"Not because I don't feel it—
but because I was scared of what it would change."
Aira's heart stilled.
"You don't have to protect me from the truth," she said softly.
"You just have to let me hear it."
Reyhan looked at her then—really looked.
"I don't want to keep pretending this is casual," he said.
"And I don't want to act like you're just someone I care about a little."
Aira swallowed.
"I don't want to hold it in anymore either," she replied.
"Not after everything we survived."
They didn't say love.
They didn't need to.
The truth was already standing between them—clear, undeniable.
Reyhan leaned back, letting out a breath.
"I'm scared," he admitted.
"But I don't want fear deciding for me anymore."
Aira smiled faintly.
"Then don't let it," she said.
"Say what you need to say."
Reyhan met her eyes.
"I want you," he said quietly.
"Not halfway. Not almost."
Aira's chest tightened.
"I know," she replied.
"And I want you too."
That was it.
Not a confession wrapped in drama.
Just truth, finally unheld.
They sat there a while longer.
No rush.
No next step yet.
But pretending was officially over.
RULE #73: Don't hold back the truth.
Because once you stop hiding what you feel,
everything else becomes clearer.
