Aira used to wait.
For the right moment.
For the right words.
For the certainty that reaching out wouldn't change things for the worse.
She was learning that waiting too long did more damage than trying ever could.
It happened on a quiet evening when she found herself staring at her phone again.
Nothing was wrong.
And that, strangely, made her nervous.
She typed Reyhan's name.
Paused.
Deleted the message.
Then sighed and typed again.
Aira:
Are you free for a walk?
The reply came a few minutes later.
Reyhan:
Yeah. I was hoping you'd ask.
That made her smile.
They met near the old park, the one they hadn't gone to since things got complicated.
The air felt different now.
Less heavy.
Less cautious.
"You didn't have to wait for me," Reyhan said as they walked.
"I know," Aira replied.
"But I wanted to."
That felt like progress.
They didn't talk about the past much.
Didn't dissect feelings.
They talked about small things—classes, random thoughts, things that didn't need emotional armor.
At one point, Reyhan slowed down.
"I'm glad you reached out," he said quietly.
"I didn't want to be the only one trying."
Aira nodded.
"I'm learning that needing someone doesn't make me weak."
"And I'm learning that being needed doesn't trap me," he replied.
They stopped near the streetlight.
No touching.
Just closeness.
"I don't want us to drift just because we're scared of asking," Aira said.
Reyhan met her eyes.
"Then don't stop asking."
She smiled softly.
That night, Aira realized something important.
Reaching out didn't undo healing.
It proved it.
RULE #69: Don't be afraid to reach out.
Because connection doesn't weaken independence—
it reminds you that you're not alone.
