"What?" I asked, shocked.
"What am I supposed to do, Holland?" Soren said, his voice breaking a little. "It's obvious he doesn't like me anymore."
"No, he does," I said immediately. I shook my head because the idea didn't make sense. Nicholas not liking Soren anymore? That sounded impossible. "I think both of you should talk this out."
"And I tried, but what happened?" Soren said bitterly. "We got into a fight. He has no interest in me anymore."
"Soren…"
"I know, and I hope I'm just being crazy," Soren said quickly, like he was trying to convince himself as much as me. "But he's behaving like he's cheating or like he has a child somewhere."
I gasped.
That thought hadn't even crossed my mind, and now that he had said it out loud, it felt heavy in the room.
"I mean, what's such a huge secret he can't tell me?" Soren continued. "And he doesn't come home that much anymore."
"What? Where is he staying?" I asked.
