"Took you long enough," Nicholas said as he reached out and took the file from Kasteil's hand.
Kasteil watched him for a moment, then slid both hands into his pockets, his posture relaxed but his eyes sharp. "What do you need it for?" he asked.
Nicholas didn't answer immediately. He opened the file and flipped through a few pages, his expression thoughtful. The real reason he had come tonight wasn't just to pick up documents. He needed two things, and this meeting gave him both opportunities. First, he needed permission from the Alpha King himself—Kasteil—to go undercover. Second, he needed access to the file connected to the strange case they had been investigating.
"I'm going undercover," Nicholas finally said.
Kasteil's brows drew together instantly. His eyes narrowed slightly as he studied Nicholas more carefully. "Why?"
