"I almost thought I had to come in there and drag you out," Kasteil said with a smile the moment I stepped closer to him.
There was amusement in his voice, but I could tell he meant it—at least a little.
"You can't do that," I said, though my voice came out softer than I intended.
Before he could respond, I wrapped my arms around him and pulled him into a hug. His body was warm, solid, and familiar. It instantly made something in my chest loosen, something I hadn't realized had been tight all evening.
I tilted my head up and kissed him.
Kasteil didn't hesitate. One of his hands slid around my waist and pulled me closer as he deepened the kiss. The world around us faded for a moment—the passing people, the quiet sounds of the street, even the cool night air. All I could focus on was him.
I sighed softly against his lips, my fingers curling into the fabric of his coat.
