Chapter 35 - Chapter 412: The Pokémon Hatched by the Hatcher!

After entering the mountain area, the sightseeing car stopped outside.

The Garchomps were already standing in a row, all curiously waiting at the entrance, watching Axel and Cynthia.

Behind them were several Gabites and some round-bodied Gibles that looked like bouncing balls.

"Hello, everyone," Cynthia was clearly very familiar with these Garchomps and took out a bunch of food that Axel had prepared earlier in the morning to distribute among them.

Her Garchomp pointed at the food and let out a low growl. The rest of the tribe looked confused.

'Eat this thing and you'll level up?'

'Impossible!'

But out of trust in their kin, the Garchomps still ate the food one after another.

The next moment...

All the eyes of the Garchomp tribe lit up.

At the very moment they ate the food, they could clearly feel as if they had stepped into a primeval wasteland. A rich, earthen power wrapped around them.

Even the clouds in the sky were made up of pure Dragon-type energy.

"ROAR!", A Gabite that was right at the edge of evolution let out a great roar, and a bright white light suddenly enveloped its body.

It evolved, just like that.

All the Pokémon were stunned inside, staring at Cynthia in disbelief.

'You get stronger by eating food?'

'Even TV dramas wouldn't dare to write something like this!'

Originally, their plan was to have Axel pick one of the young ones in the tribe, those whose growth paths weren't yet fixed, giving them more room to be nurtured.

But now… even they wanted to compete.

Even if they couldn't get chosen, at least being a bodyguard beside Axel would be fine, right?

If not a bodyguard, then at least a mount should be okay?

The Garchomp tribe leader immediately knew what his clansmen were thinking.

'These guys… their brains are way too active.'

When he first heard that the Berlitz family wanted to obtain a Gible, several parents had even taken their children and run off overnight to some godforsaken place.

In their words, how could a spoiled rich brat properly raise their child?

But later, when they learned that the Gible's trainer was none other than Axel, the man who saved Sinnoh and crushed the Time and Space Dragons in battle, many Garchomps ran back overnight, hoping their own children could get the best education possible.

And now these guys were even more outrageous, not only wanting to send off their kids, but wanting to be packed up themselves?

"Roar~"

'That's enough out of you all!'

The leader gave a low growl, and the thoughts of the restless Garchomps immediately faded.

No, no, this was truly the chance for their tribe to rise up.

If they could let the most talented youngling join Axel, then those Charizards in the Fire Valley wouldn't be so smug anymore.

This opportunity should go to the young Gibles.

"Axel, my Garchomp says the Garchomp tribe leader is inviting you to choose your Pokémon."

"Alright," Axel didn't waste time and began to look over the Gibles carefully.

Compared to directly capturing powerful Pokémon, he preferred raising them from babyhood.

Just like Eternatus, wasn't their bond deep?

And then look at a certain ice dragon… that guy wouldn't even let him take two of his kids away. The difference is night and day.

'Emmm…'

Thinking of Kyurem, Axel suddenly felt like once he wasn't so busy, he should go beat him up again. He'd forgotten to "pluck" him last time.

That ice on his body could make some nice ice blocks, perfect for raising Glastrier, right?

Axel shook his head, tossing the thought aside, and continued examining the Gibles.

There weren't too many of them here, less than twenty in total.

As his gaze passed over each one, their data automatically appeared on his interface.

[Gible: Level 18, Elite Four Aptitude. Traits: Dragon-Type Ruler (Gold), Ground-Type Mastery (Purple)…]

[Gible: Level 7, Gym Leader Aptitude. Traits: Dragon-Type Mastery (Purple), Ground-Type Mastery (Purple)…]

[Gible: Level 22, Elite Four Aptitude. Traits: Ground-Type Ruler (Gold), Dragon-Type Mastery (Purple)…]

[Gible...]

After looking through a few, Axel couldn't help twitching his lips.

Honestly speaking, these Gibles were all quite strong. The weakest ones still had Gym Leader-level aptitude, and on average, most were Elite Four-grade.

For an ordinary trainer, just getting one of these would be enough to reach the peak of their life.

But was Axel an ordinary person?

Even the best one among them, a Gabite with Champion-level aptitude, couldn't really excite him.

Rather than aptitude, he was more interested in finding a Pokémon with unique traits. That's where the real nurturing potential lay.

But after checking so many, he only found a few Gibles with a trait called "Sharp Fangs."

Its effect boosted the power of biting-type moves,.quite fitting for the Garchomp family's natural abilities.

"Roar?", Seeing Axel's unchanged expression, the Garchomp tribe leader growled a little nervously.

Beside them, Gardevoir, released by Axel for easier communication, translated, ["Master, the Garchomp leader is asking if you've found one you like?"]

It was clear the tribe leader understood that the bond between a trainer and their Pokémon had to go both ways.

Axel blinked and didn't answer immediately.

Honestly, deep down, he was leaning toward catching the Gible with the highest aptitude first.

Then he'd beat up those with "Sharp Fangs" to see if they'd drop the trait.

That way, he could recreate the anime version of Ash's Gible, the one that could literally bite through robots.

But... Axel sighed lightly. He still wasn't that cruel.

Facing these adorable Gibles, how could he even say something like that out loud?

Just as Axel was about to pick a Gible with "Sharp Fangs" and Elite Four aptitude, Brown's phone suddenly rang.

["Hello, Brown? When you have a moment, go check on that Gible that Gold hatched."]

["Its body stats are all excellent, so why hasn't it leveled up yet?"]

["If we can't solve this properly, it'll be a huge failure in our research lab's hatching history."]

Hearing the voice over Brown's phone, Axel's eyes instantly lit up.

There's also a Pokémon hatched by Gold here?

Although this world's Gold wasn't famous yet, Axel knew exactly who that guy was, the legendary Hatcher.

In the special edition, he'd even hatched a newly-born Pokémon that briefly possessed Elite Four-level power.

Though all of those Pokémon ended up with… rather questionable personalities, smoking, drinking, perming their hair, whatever could go wrong, did go wrong.

But for Teacher Mewtwo, did a bad personality even count as a problem?

"Garchomp leader, I'd like to go see that Pokémon too!"
