Ashelia stiffened for a while, then she tilted her head back to look up at Azrael. Their eyes locked, her emerald orbs meeting his warm golden ones for no more than a second before her heart skipped.
Twice!
And she was very aware of its strange behaviour in her chest now, unlike the last time it happened… but she was at least sure it was the second time that day.
In an instant, she straightened herself and readied her arrow in a horrible attempt to hide the blush on her face. She was so out of sorts that she didn't realize what was happening behind her.
Azrael was fully aware of the rapid thumping of her heart, he could hear it clearly, he could see her embarrassment, but he kept himself from attaching any deeper meaning to it.
She was just a naïve young woman who was getting to know the presence of a man as handsome as he was for the first time, despite how egotistical it might sound.
