Chapter 50 - Chapter 50 : Level Up In Dungeon

Golden light engulfed his vision as he woke up to a rather comfortable feeling. His head felt like it was cushioned by clouds, and the radiance around him seemed to be his waking call.

He groggily opened his eyes, only to meet golden irises looking at him with a knowing smile just beneath them.

"Goddess…" Orion blinked. By now, he was so used to waking up like this that he wasn't even startled anymore. And let's be honest, waking up to such a beautiful face had made his days much more enjoyable.

But the feeling was a bit different…

He blinked once again and then realized. His eyes darted around, and he noticed his head was on her lap.

The legendary lap pillow.

Oh, how truly heaven had blessed this soul.

'But wait a minute…' His mouth twitched, since the only comfortable feeling was on his head; the rest of his body felt rather stiff.

He looked around only to find his bed was gone.

"Hmmm, what's going on? Where are we?" He asked, still too out of it to realize he wasn't in his room back in Axel anymore.

[You ask me how I am supposed to know? Everything that happens around you is as great a mystery to me as the Greater Will itself.]

[And in case you have yet to notice, we are already back inside the dungeon.]

"What!"

Completely disregarding the pleasure he was feeling on her lap, his head shot up like a rocket when he digested what she mentioned.

"What do you mean we are back in the dungeon?" He asked hurriedly.

He didn't come back—actually, now that he thought about it, he half expected to be dragged out of that world when he beat the boss, like how it usually happened in boss fights. Once the boss was dead, the player was sent out of the temporary fighting arena.

But he didn't. That gave him a bit of hope that he might have some time before the system dragged him back on its own. In fact, he planned to check out how that worked, even his status after the party was over. But then he remembered himself drinking too much and…

'And?' He found himself questioning that. Everything was blank after that.

'I was hammered hard.' He grumbled.

Just as he was about to hastily open up his system and file a complaint about unlawful worldly travel without consent—if that was even possible—he saw a strange option which wasn't available on the menu before.

'Outside the map?' He blinked.

He clicked the screen, making Marika frown as she saw her Tarnished once again doing those things out of the blue. Either he really was seeing something she couldn't, or repeated deaths had broken him.

Orion didn't care. He was completely engrossed in the system notification right in front of him.

The map was divided into sections now. This was the first time he was seeing this, and the sections were rather interesting, to say the least.

First and the main one, which he had just exited, was obviously his main world, Orario. It was represented by a big tower in the menu.

If Orion clicked on it, the menu changed, showing the map of the dungeon and outside, alongside all the Sites of Grace he had.

However, that wasn't what interested him. He had seen that enough. No, what was interesting was the next name beside it.

Represented by a logo of Konosuba… it was the Konosuba world, with the last Site of Grace plotted in Axel…

'Oh… don't tell me I can go there if I wish.' Orion's eyes lit up with an unnatural glint. He quickly opened the Konosuba map. The only map he got was the area around Axel, and the town itself had only one Site of Grace, which he himself wasn't aware of until now.

"So cool." He muttered to himself and, with kid-like curiosity, clicked on the Site of Grace showing at the location of Axel. Resulting in…

NOTHING!

'Heh!'

—-<>—-

Konosuba world is at the cooldown period. Player is advised to wait until the time dilation is fixed before the player can visit there again.

—-<>—-

"Time dilation?" Orion muttered, pretending he understood it—which was a huge lie.

'I have to wait, but why?' He grumbled internally.

His best guess was that sending him to another world needed too much power, unlike the fake worlds and bosses the system created for him, like that USJ accident. And thus, he had to wait before trying to go back.

And it seemed like him staying there for long also cost power, since the system had forcefully brought him back—though this was just his speculation.

Sighing, he finally got up. There was nothing to do about it. He was just happy that he could go back and meet everyone again.

"Seems like we are back." He grinned at his goddess, who looked at him curiously. His earlier behavior had definitely made her more suspicious of him.

But just like usual, she didn't say anything. Didn't ask anything.

[Indeed we have. Congratulations on advancing.]

"Ah… yes, I almost forgot. Couldn't update my status back then…. Goddess, please update it now." He asked with a grin, excited to see how much he had improved over the span of two months there.

Marika gave him a long, hard stare before smirking and sighing.

[As you ask. I'm too curious, to say the least, to know how much my Tarnished has improved.]

Orion's eyes lit up, then fixed on the last recorded Level 1 status. All of them were at S-999.

'Last I remember, it wasn't like that, meaning before updating, my status reached its maximum limit. Awesome.'

A bright grin appeared on his face before he snapped out of it, ready to leave this place. It was time to go back up to the city and enjoy his level-up.

"What do you think, Goddess? This occasion demands a celebration." He asked with a grin, maybe for the first time not being frugal in his life.

[Do as you please. It's not like you'll be discouraged even if I were to say otherwise.] Marika shrugged.

"Oh, don't be like that, Goddess. I thought we were over this…" Orion whined. She still reminded him of not listening to her back then.

Sigh… someone once said it true—women were spiteful enough to remember everything to use it against you.

[You are thinking of something rather inappropriate, don't you!]

Her eyes narrowed, as if she read his mind.

"No… not at all. I wouldn't dare." He snapped his head left and right before hurriedly getting up, leaving the rest of the talking for later.

Now he intended to just get out of this dungeon and tell the good news…

"God… I was there for two months, wasn't I." His eyes widened. Panic started to settle in when he realized what kind of deep shit he could be in, just thinking about what kind of trouble he would be in with both Hestia and Eina.

Horror. Complete horror.
