It's been four years since I arrived in this world. But that doesn't mean I miss my old life—not anymore. Because here, I have something better: a family. A loving family, not that lonely house I used to come home to — a house that greeted me with silence every time I walked through the door.
Not just any family. I'm a Bing now. More specifically: the son of Monica Geller-Bing and Chandler Bing. My favourite character growing up was Chandler — so sarcastic, so self-aware, so… real. He was the one who helped me through my roughest times. Unrealistic as it may sound, he became my anchor.
Yet there's one small problem nagging at the back of my mind. In the Friends universe, Chandler and Monica never had biological children — they adopted. So how come I'm their son? How did I come to be born naturally in this world?
That question haunts me — even now. And every time I look in the mirror, I wonder: is my life a miracle… or a plot twist someone forgot to explain?
🂬 Present Day — Hawkins Middle School 🂬
I rolled into school just as the morning chaos hit its peak. Mike, Dustin, and Lucas were by the bike racks—right next to the resident dynamic duo of bad attitudes.
Troy and James.
Troy wore that trademark stupid grin, the one that made him look like he failed a tutorial on how to be human. James stood behind him, copying every expression with the enthusiasm of someone following the Bullies 101 Starter Pack.
"Well, well," Troy said, spotting Mike first. "Look who crawled out of the nerd cave."
"Quit it, Troy," Lucas muttered, already annoyed.
Troy ignored him and scanned the group—Mike, Dustin, Lucas—completely skipping over me like I wasn't worth the effort yet.
"Aww, where's Byers?" he teased in a singsong voice. "Did the little baby get lost?"
Mike stepped forward, jaw tight. "Seriously. Back off."
Troy leaned in, smirking. "What are you gonna do? Cry? Or use your wizard powers to make me disappear?"
Lucas mumbled, "Man, I hope he tries. We can only get so lucky."
Troy's grin twitched. "What was that?"
Before Lucas could set him on fire with pure attitude, I stepped between them. No threatening glare, no dramatic pose—just calm and steady.
"Hey, Troy," I said. "Quick question."
He blinked. "What?"
"How does it feel," I asked, "being a background character with no actual personality?"
Dustin choked mid-breath. Lucas snorted loud enough to earn stares. Mike looked like someone just hit pause on his brain.
Troy went red immediately. "What did you just—"
"Oh, relax," I said, waving a hand. "You're not even the main bully. You're basically James's emotional support, idiot."
James blinked. "Dude—what?"
A ripple of whispers spread across the courtyard.Troy stepped closer, trying to look intimidating.
"You think you're funny, Bing?" he growled, dragging out my surname like he was trying to sound important.
"Not really," I shrugged. "But compared to you? I'm a stand-up comedian."
For a second, it looked like he might swing.
Then the bell shrieked through the courtyard.
Kids scattered. Teachers started yelling. Life continued.
"Lucky," Troy muttered at me, backing away. "This isn't over."
He shoved past, James trailing behind like a lost duckling.
Dustin spun toward me immediately. "DUDE! That was incredible. You shut him down like—like—like Chandler with teenagers!"
Embarrassed, I scratched the back of my neck. "Hey, when you live with my dad, you pick up a thing or two."
Lucas and Mike nodded, amused.
But the moment settled quickly.
I glanced at Mike. "Hey… you heard anything from Mrs Byers?"
Even though I knew the answer, I had to ask. I needed to be sure this was the world I thought it was.
Mike shook his head, eyes dark.
Dustin swallowed. "Don't worry, guys. Will's gonna be okay."
I nodded slowly.
In the series, he survived. But the series never had Evan Bing in the cast.
Though if anything happens to Will, I will make sure there will be no upside down anymore.
