Carina nodded and took the fruit. Instead of biting into it, she opened her enlarged mouth and sent it directly into Baku Baku Space.
Immediately afterward, she closed her beautiful eyes, attempting to extract the Devil Fruit from the woman's body and synthesize it with the fruit inside that space.

Just a few seconds later, Carina opened her eyes and shook her head.
"No," she said. "I can only temporarily transform her Devil Fruit ability into my body. I can't extract it—let alone synthesize it with the fruit."
El frowned slightly.
Then, a thought flashed through his mind.
"Spit her out," he said calmly. "Let's try again."
"Yes."
Carina nodded and expelled the woman from Baku Baku Space.
El caught the unconscious woman effortlessly. With one hand gripping her neck, he crushed her throat without the slightest hesitation.
Moments later, the woman crossed into death.
"Eat her again," El said, pointing at the corpse.
"Okay."
Carina opened her mouth and swallowed the body once more.
Not a single ripple appeared on the girls' faces as El killed the defenseless enemy in front of them.
After spending so much time together, El's actions had subtly reshaped the three girls' views.
They still held a clear bottom line—never harming civilians or innocents.
But enemies were different.
They had already grown accustomed to killing pirates with bounties, to severed limbs, to corpses scattered across battlefields.
As long as it didn't violate their conscience or twist their hearts, none of them felt disgust or fear.
In that sense, El's "education" had been frighteningly effective.
Carina showed no hesitation.Neither did Nami nor Kuina.
After swallowing the corpse, Carina once again attempted to extract the Devil Fruit and synthesize it.
This time—
She felt something.
The Devil Fruit power was successfully pulled from the corpse and drawn toward the fruit inside Baku Baku Space.
Inside that space, the fruit began to change at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Its volume slowly increased.Spiral patterns gradually spread across its surface.
Outside, Carina's eyes flew open, shining with excitement.
"Nii-san—we succeeded!"
"Good!" El said immediately. "Spit it out. Let me see."
Carina opened her mouth and expelled the Devil Fruit.
Catching it, El's lips curved upward.
"My hypothesis was correct," he said calmly."The Baku Baku no Mi truly is the most terrifying Paramecia-type Devil Fruit in history."
"Next," El continued, "we'll conduct another experiment."
He handed the newly formed Devil Fruit to the stunned Nami and Kuina, then drew his sword and passed it to Carina.
Picking up the other unconscious woman, El crushed her throat without hesitation.
"Carina," he said evenly,"eat my sword—and then try to synthesize Sandai Kitetsu with her Devil Fruit."
Yes.
El's idea was extremely bold.
Not only did he intend to seize Devil Fruits—
He wanted to turn Devil Fruits into weapons.
If this worked, then even without becoming true dual Devil Fruit users, they would effectively possess the power of two—or even three—Devil Fruits.
"…Okay."
Carina nodded and swallowed both the sword and the corpse into Baku Baku Space.
Just as before, she extracted the Devil Fruit from the woman's body and attempted to synthesize it with Sandai Kitetsu.
The result—
"No. It failed."
Carina opened her eyes and shook her head.
"…Because Sandai Kitetsu wasn't fused with a fruit first?" El murmured.
After thinking for a moment, he took out another fruit and handed it to Carina.
"First synthesize the Devil Fruit with the fruit," he said."Then try synthesizing that with Sandai Kitetsu."
"Okay."
Carina followed his instructions precisely.
She synthesized the Devil Fruit into the fruit—
Then merged that result with Sandai Kitetsu.
And then—
Something astonishing happened.
"Nii-san… look at this," Carina said hesitantly."Is this… a success?"
She spat out a very strange-looking sword.
Sandai Kitetsu's original flame-patterned scabbard and blade were gone.
In their place were dense, spiraling Devil Fruit patterns.
"…What an ugly sword," Nami blurted out."Is that really Sandai Kitetsu?"
Kuina nodded in agreement.
The once-cool, cursed blade now looked completely wrong.
El examined it carefully—then shook his head.
"No. It failed."
He sighed softly.
"It seems Devil Fruits can be synthesized—but to allow a weapon to truly manifest an ability, a special medium is required."
"A weapon must first become something like a living being."
El wasn't particularly disappointed.
After all—
Even Vegapunk, whose technology surpassed the world by five hundred years, could only grant Devil Fruit abilities to Zoan-type objects.
If the Baku Baku no Mi could do this freely through synthesis alone, it would be outright cheating.
Wholesale Devil Fruit weapons would break the world.
Even so—
Being able to seize Devil Fruits directly was already an unbelievable gain.
