The Wano national treasure sword Shusui, like the Second Onigiri, is one of the Twenty-One Great Blades. It was the blade of the Wano samurai Ryoma — the warrior who earned the name "Dragon-Slayer" after cutting down a dragon with it. Shusui, like Mihawk's supreme blade Yoru, is a rare black blade.
So how did such a treasure end up in Moonlight Moria's hands? The story goes that when Moria and Kaido fought, Moria's forces were annihilated. Enraged, Moria dug into Wano's ancestral tombs and stole Ryoma's corpse along with his sword Shusui. It didn't make much sense — why would Kaido be involved in desecrating Wano's graves? If anyone should be angry, it ought to be Kozuki Oden's line. Roxing couldn't help but smile at Moria's poor judgment as he told Zoro the tale.
Zoro was overjoyed. A swordsman who loved his blades could hardly contain himself — he immediately asked Roxing to let him go to Moria's Fearsome Three-Masted Ship and retrieve the black blade Shusui.
Roxing shook his head. "Not yet. Wait until I finish something, then I'll go with you."
Zoro frowned. "Roxing-sama, this is a small matter — I can handle it myself. You don't need to go in person."
Roxing smiled faintly, eyes turning deep. "What Moria has that matters most isn't Shusui — it's his zombie army."
Since Roxing had been worrying about the shortage of troops for the Beasts' crew, he'd been hunting for a way to expand numbers that would also guarantee loyalty. He had been stuck for a long time, until thinking of Shusui and then of Moria. Moria's Shadow-Shadow Fruit lets him put living people's shadows into corpses, creating zombie soldiers that don't fear or truly die. If Roxing could bring that zombie army into his fold and feed them Monster Cells, in an instant he'd have a powerful undead force.
Of course, Moria was vain and fought with Kaido — making him hard to bend. Roxing planned to visit the Fearsome Three-Masted Ship to gauge Moria's attitude before deciding what to do.
He told Zoro to wait at the shogun's mansion, then took the little attendant Charlotte (the rabbit-eared girl) and went toward Rabbit-井 Prison. Charlotte hadn't seen Roxing in a while and rubbed her furry face against him constantly; Roxing pinched her long, cute rabbit ears and she finally stopped, calling him "Master."
Roxing asked, "When's the full moon?"
Charlotte cocked her head, counting on her fingers. "In about ten days. Why?"
"Ten days is plenty for a round trip to the Fearsome Three-Masted Ship," he said casually.
"Full moon?" Charlotte brightened. When she becomes a moon-lion on the full moon, Roxing liked her to arch her waist into a perfect arc and wear a cool, noble expression. She blushed, but she would always do as her master asked.
They entered Rabbit-井 Prison to see two particular people. One was Enel. Poor Enel — once a god on Skypiea, he'd been humbled by Roxing, reduced to digging in the prison mines and getting whipped hundreds of times by Queen. It was a life that made a dog look better off.
The other person Roxing wanted to see was Trafalgar Law — and, of course, Law's Heart Pirates. After Vergo delivered them in, Roxing had transferred them to Wano and put them to work in the mines.
The prison warden hurried over when he saw Roxing. Roxing had the warden lead them first to Enel. It was meal time: Enel was stuffing rice balls into his mouth, hands and face smeared. There was nothing godlike about him now.
Roxing was pleased. Knowing someone will eat keeps them alive, and someone with a will to live can be of use. Roxing had originally captured Enel to feed him a Dragon-class Monster Cell and turn him into one of the Beasts' combatants — he didn't want Enel to give up and become worthless.
Enel's eyes first froze, then turned blood-red when he saw Roxing. He lunged like a madman, screaming, "Bastard! You and those people treat this god like dirt — I'll kill you!"
But he collapsed halfway — the sea-stone collar around his neck tightened, instantly cutting off his Devil Fruit powers. Roxing walked up slowly and looked down at the fallen "god."
"Foolish one," Roxing said. "You've seen the true strong of this sea. You still dare call yourself a god?"
Enel had no reply. Once he'd been invincible with the Rumble Fruit; then Inflamed by the fight with Enjō, humiliated, and now in Wano's prison surrounded by people who all used Haki. His elemental, electrified body was effectively neutered and he'd been beaten repeatedly. Enel finally understood how small his world had been.
Roxing patted his shoulder. "Think carefully. Spend the rest of your life mining here, or swear to follow me."
Then Roxing moved on to Trafalgar Law's cell, leaving Enel stunned and dazed.
Law and his crew's condition was better than Enel's. They weren't beaten every day; they did their tasks and ate. But pirates love freedom — being locked up sapped their spirits. When Roxing arrived, every Heart Pirate looked at him: curiosity, anger, hatred, doubt — and, behind all of it, fear.
Law stayed calm. He looked Roxing in the eye and said in a low voice, "A Five-Elder Emperor? The Beasts' prince? A scientist greater than Vegapunk — what use is it to capture rookies like us?"
"For your Surgical Fruit," Roxing answered frankly. That made Law's expression flicker.
Law sneered after a moment. "You think I'll willingly let you perform immortal surgeries for someone like you?"
Roxing's face didn't change. "What kind of person am I? I'm your benefactor, kid."
That truth stopped Law for a second. Roxing had killed Doflamingo — Law's great enemy — and that was indeed a favor. But that favor didn't make up for stealing Law's freedom.
Roxing continued: "Think it over. Wise men seize the moment."
His calm gaze had an authority to it as he scanned Law and the Heart Pirates. Then Roxing left them with a final line that chilled them all: "My patience is limited."
