**ONE PIECE FANFICTION: WORLD WALKER**

*The Shadow Monarch's Journey Across Worlds*

---

## Chapter 1 — "I Woke Up Weak. I Mean *Really*Weak."

---

The first thing Arean noticed when he opened his eyes was the smell.

Salt. Fish. Rotting wood baking under a sun that had apparently decided to be *aggressively* present today.

The second thing he noticed was that he was lying face-up in a pile of hay inside what appeared to be a barn, staring at a ceiling riddled with holes through which blinding tropical light poured down in dusty beams.

The third thing — and this one took a moment to fully process — was that he was *tiny.*

Not small. Not short. *Tiny.* Like, his hands, when he raised them to his face, were the stubby little hands of a seven-year-old child.

*...Oh no.*

He sat up slowly. His body felt strange. Light. Uncoordinated in that deeply embarrassing way that only young children experienced — like his limbs had been recently installed and nobody had gotten around to calibrating them yet.

He looked down at himself.

Bare feet. Worn shorts that were two sizes too big, cinched at the waist with a rope. A simple white shirt, already dirty. Brown hair he could feel falling into his eyes.

*I'm... actually here.*

His name was Arean. Nineteen years old — had been, anyway. High school dropout who'd somehow scraped his way back into academics, passionate about anime to an almost embarrassing degree, and the absolute last person who should have been chosen by any cosmic entity for anything important.

Three hours ago — or nineteen years ago, depending on how you measured time — he'd been sitting in his dorm room at 2 AM, three episodes deep into a One Piece rewatch, a half-eaten cup of ramen cooling beside him. He remembered the scene vividly: Luffy laughing, the Going Merry cutting through blue water, that iconic soundtrack swelling—

And then he'd felt heavy. The kind of tired that settles into your bones. His eyes had closed despite himself.

And then... this.

Reincarnation.

He'd read enough fanfiction to know exactly what this was. He was living the premise he'd consumed a thousand times over. Except usually, in those stories, the protagonist woke up with some kind of power already crackling at their fingertips. Some immediate, dramatic proof that they were special.

Arean clenched his small fist and focused.

Nothing happened.

He tried again. Harder this time. Imagined fire, imagined darkness, imagined *anything.*

A pigeon that had been roosting in the rafters ruffled its feathers and looked at him with what he could only describe as judgmental energy.

"...Okay," he said out loud. His voice was a child's voice. High, clear, slightly hoarse from what must have been crying at some point recently — whether that was him or the original owner of this body, he wasn't sure. "Okay. Fine. I'll just—"

He stopped.

A memory surfaced. Not his — belonging to the previous occupant of this body. A boy. Arean. Same name, which was either a massive coincidence or the universe being lazy. Seven years old. Son of a fisherman on a small island in the East Blue. Parents gone — fever, two years back. Living with the village elder now. A quiet kid. Unremarkable. Healthy enough, but nothing special.

*So I took over a perfectly ordinary child's life,* Arean thought. *Great. Wonderful. No trauma there.*

He pushed the guilt down. He'd process that later. Right now—

"SYSTEM," he said quietly, feeling profoundly silly.

Nothing.

"...Golden finger?"

The pigeon cooed.

"Okay, um." He pressed his palms together like he was about to pray. "I am Arean. I have been reincarnated into the world of One Piece. I am seven years old, I appear to have no powers, and I would very much appreciate it if whoever is responsible for this situation would please—"

The world went white.

---

It wasn't painful. It was more like someone had pressed the brightness slider on reality all the way to maximum. Arean squeezed his eyes shut, saw pink through his eyelids, and waited.

Then, floating in the white, text appeared.

Green. Clean. Structured. Like a game UI overlaid directly onto his vision.

The white faded.

Arean sat in the hay, staring at nothing, the status window still faintly hovering at the edge of his vision like a translucent overlay he could focus on or ignore.

He focused on it.

Arean stared at his stats for a long time.

Strength: 5.

He thought about Luffy, who at age seven had accidentally eaten the Gum-Gum Fruit and punched a Sea King. He thought about Zoro, who at this age was probably already training himself half to death in a dojo somewhere.

He thought about Usopp, arguably the most normal human being in the entire Straw Hat crew.

*I am weaker than Usopp,* he realized. *Right now, at this moment, I might be weaker than Usopp.*

He lay back down in the hay.

The pigeon cooed again.

"Yeah," Arean said to the ceiling. "I know."

---

But here's the thing about Arean — the thing that would matter, later, when people tried to understand how he'd gotten from *here* to *wherever he ended up* —

He didn't stay lying down for long.

Three minutes, maybe four. Enough to feel sorry for himself. Enough to let the strangeness and the loss and the sheer absurdity of his situation wash through him and settle somewhere manageable.

Then he sat back up.

*Okay,* he thought. *Sung Jin-Woo started in a dungeon, almost died a dozen times, and became the strongest human alive. He worked for it. Every level. Every boss. Every shadow.*

*I have his template. I have infinite mana. I have a passive skill that makes me a genius at learning anything.*

*And I have time.*

He looked at his small, weak hands. Then he made a fist — still unimpressive, still the fist of a seven-year-old — but there was something different in the gesture now. Less panic. More intention.

*I'm going to need to find Luffy.*

The thought came naturally, like it had always been there waiting. If this was East Blue Era — and based on the status window's notation, it was — then Luffy was out there somewhere. Same age as him. Probably already causing chaos in Foosha Village, driving Shanks and his crew absolutely insane.

And in ten years, that boy was going to set sail.

Arean intended to be ready.

He stood up, brushed hay off his shirt, and walked to the barn door. Pushed it open.

Outside: a small island village. Tropical. Bright. The ocean visible at the end of the main road, deep and blue and enormous.

The East Blue.

He took a breath of salt air.

The status window hovered quietly at the corner of his vision. EXP: 0/100. Level 1. Every skill locked except one.

*Supreme Genius.*

Well. He'd have to start somewhere.

*First,* he decided, *I need to figure out which island this is. Then I need to eat something. Then I need to find out if I can start training today.*

*And then,* he thought, something warm and reckless beginning to kindle in his chest — the same feeling, he suspected, that had made Luffy laugh when he announced he'd be King of the Pirates — *and then I need to get very, very strong.*

He started walking.

Behind him, barely audible, the System's last words before hibernation echoed:

*Enjoy the journey.*

Arean smiled despite himself.

"Yeah," he said quietly, to the ocean and the sky and the ridiculous cosmic lottery that had landed him here. "I think I will."
