Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Arrival of High Temperatures

The next day, when Chu Jiangyue went to open the hotel door, she immediately noticed that the fruit sapling planted just yesterday seemed to have grown a lot taller.

'Little Fox, has it gotten taller?'

Yesterday it was only up to her knees, but today it's reached her thighs. Isn't this growth rate a bit too fast?

It's unscientific!

"Exactly, exactly, it has grown taller. This is normal, the host doesn't need to worry."

'If it continues to grow at this rate, won't I be able to sell fruits in the hotel soon?'

Anyway, there are fruits in the kitchen refrigerator, and she can generously share the fruits from this tree with the hotel guests.

"Let's wait until the fruit tree matures."

The reward was described as a random fruit sapling, and who knows what fruit might grow.

However, Chu Jiangyue clearly hasn't noticed this point yet.

Chu Jiangyue shifted her gaze from the fruit sapling and glanced outside.

'Little Fox, look over there! Is that a Level 1 Zombie?'

The distance made it hard for Chu Jiangyue to see clearly, but the speed of that zombie was noticeably faster than other zombies.

'It's a Level 1 Zombie. Does the host want to take care of it?'

The strength of Level 1 Zombies isn't too high, their main horror lies in the zombie virus they carry.

As long as a normal person is scratched, they'll enter a latent period and eventually turn into a zombie, which is the most troublesome aspect of the zombie virus.

"Let Shen Zhigui and the others handle it. I'm not relying on killing zombies to make a living."

This was the first time Chu Jiangyue had seen a Level 1 Zombie since her rebirth, but it also indicated that zombies had begun to evolve.

Zombies in the villa area were relatively few, but even they had evolved to Level 1 Zombies. In places densely populated with zombies, Levels 2 or even Level 3 Zombies might have already appeared.

"But host, it seems Shen Zhigui and the others aren't killing zombies in this area."

Chu Jiangyue opened the door at 10 o'clock, but Shen Zhigui and the others had already swiped their Identity Cards and left the hotel earlier.

"Even if they're not here now, they'll eventually run into them."

Moreover, Chu Jiangyue suspected that Shen Zhigui and his group weren't killing zombies near the hotel because there were too few here.

Though Chu Jiangyue thought the group would be out killing zombies until dusk and return later, they unexpectedly came back by noon.

"Boss Chu didn't go out today?"

Xie Silin seemed to have latched onto the right person, and today had gone out to kill zombies with Shen Zhigui and his group.

Seeing Chu Jiangyue comfortably sitting at the counter inside, saying he's not envious would be a lie.

She even had time today to braid her hair!

Chu Jiangyue shook her head: "Though I didn't go out, I saw a Level 1 Zombie at the door. I don't know if you ran into it."

"It's not about zombies today. The temperature suddenly got much higher; we couldn't stay outside for long."

The villa area had a power outage and water supply cut off. People hiding in villas were probably also suffering.

However, they discovered that Jianglin Hotel was completely unaffected by the weather. As soon as they entered, it returned to normal temperature, and they could even feel a cool breeze blowing.

"The hotel still has vacant rooms. If you have friends, you can invite them over."

During the heatwave, Chu Jiangyue couldn't do anything; she was relying on the hotel for safety.

"If you can get more people to come to the hotel and apply for Identity Cards, there should be more room."

Chu Jiangyue wasn't willing to go out herself.

The five people glanced at each other, speechless.

"Let's wait until the sun sets in the afternoon."

The temperature was too high at the moment, and they weren't foolish enough to disregard their safety for others.

Chu Jiangyue was indifferent; it didn't matter to her.

"We're going back to our rooms now."

Covered in sweat and stink, Shen Zhigui just wanted to shower as soon as possible.

'Little Fox, is there no way to deal with this?'

Chu Jiangyue thought Little Fox, since it could come here, couldn't possibly just have her open a hotel and nothing else.

"The host only needs to complete tasks diligently, gain experience, and upgrade as quickly as possible."

Apart from that, Little Fox was unwilling to say more.

'Easy for you to say. With this heatwave, hardly anyone can go out. Our hotel barely has a few guests, not even coming daily.'

Those timid people may not have even gone outside by now.

Little Fox didn't speak anymore; if it had a way, it wouldn't still be an ordinary fox.

"Ha!"

"Ha! Boss, help!"

Just as Chu Jiangyue was about to go into the kitchen to get a watermelon to cut and eat, unexpected visitors arrived.

Judging by their appearance, they should have been guests who visited the hotel before.

Two people arrived, both with beer bellies, seemingly having lived well before the apocalypse.

"Wow! It's cool inside the hotel! Boss, do you have ice water to sell?"

Before the apocalypse, they never drank ice water—always coffee or tea.

"No ice water, take your time. By the way, the hotel has vacant rooms if you want to stay, 200 copper coins per day."

It wasn't the grand opening special anymore.

"I'm staying! I want to stay! Boss, book me 10 days. This damn weather; villas are useless!"

"Me too! I'll stay 10 days, just like him."

The two beer-bellied individuals had surprisingly consistent reactions.

"Alright, once you've rested, come swipe your Identity Card to pay."

Chu Jiangyue processed their order and then went into the kitchen; she was still thinking about the big watermelon.

Chu Jiangyue cut it in half directly and took a spoon, carrying the watermelon outside.

"Watermelon! Boss, how much for the watermelon? I have money!"

Chu Jiangyue shook her head: "This is mine; you can't have it."

This was a hotel privilege for her as the boss; others didn't have it.

They'd have to wait and see if they could be lucky enough to get some in the future.

"Boss, how can you not sell the watermelon when you clearly have it?"

Chu Jiangyue glanced at them: "That's the rule."

The other person nudged his companion's arm, signaling him to say less.

Being able to stay was already good enough; if they stayed in their villa, they'd probably be cooked in the heat.

Though he felt regret, he ultimately didn't say more, fearing he'd offend Chu Jiangyue, who might kick him out.

The tall thin guy who disappeared that day—they watched him vanish.

The two of them swiped their Identity Cards to pay, then entered their rooms empty-handed.

As long as their Identity Card balance held money, they wouldn't starve in the hotel; Chu Jiangyue left them alone.

The fact they ran safely from their villas to the hotel proved they had some capability, and unless they were unbelievably lazy, they wouldn't be unable to afford their stay.

Chu Jiangyue gazed outside through the hotel entrance, her mood growing heavy.

This heatwave was really troublesome.
