Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: A Large Wave of Guests Approaches

The sudden alarm startled Chu Jiangyue.

"Damn fox! What are you doing?"

Do you even know what time it is?

She clearly said to wake her up at 9 a.m. the next day, and now it's only midnight, midnight!

"Host, it's not my fault! Shen Zhigui and the others are back, and they brought a bunch of people."

These are all potential customers. Every second of delay means a loss for them.

Chu Jiangyue smirked sarcastically, "Do you guess why I set office hours? If everyone comes when I'm off duty, and I have to let them in, wouldn't my office hours be just for show?"

Do you know what a seller's market is? A seller's market means they have to act according to my whims, not the other way around!

Little Fox, you're new to this, so I won't blame you, but in the future, if it's after hours, even if guests come, don't bother me unless it's an emergency, understand?"

Chu Jiangyue felt that if she didn't have a talk with Little Fox, this situation would happen again.

Chu Jiangyue didn't want to be dragged out of bed in the middle of the night anymore.

"I'm sorry, Host... I was too eager."

Little Fox drooped its ears and lowered its head to its chest, looking pitiful.

"Alright, just this once. How many people did Shen Zhigui and the others bring?"

To make Little Fox so excited as to wake her up, it must be quite a few people, right?

"Not too many, not too few, exactly 100 people. The Host's task can be completed!"

Chu Jiangyue's current task is to entertain 100 people and successfully handle their Identity Cards.

Hearing that she could complete the task, Chu Jiangyue felt a bit better and wasn't as upset about being woken up abruptly.

"Let's go, let's go down and take a look."

Shen Zhigui and his group originally planned to bring the people over the next morning, but didn't expect to encounter a small zombie horde at night.

Just the five of them couldn't handle so many zombies.

Ultimately, after weighing the pros and cons, they had to leave overnight, and what was originally a group of nearly two hundred people escaped with only half remaining.

To be honest, being able to safely return to the hotel, even Shen Zhigui felt relieved.

However, upon arriving at the hotel and seeing the tightly closed doors, Shen Zhigui knew it was awkward.

Chu Jiangyue had emphasized her business hours to them more than once, and told them not to bother her after hours unless it was an emergency.

But now, even without a clock, it was obvious it was late at night, and at this time, Chu Jiangyue was off duty and probably resting.

Without Chu Jiangyue to open the door, the survivors, lacking Identity Cards, couldn't enter the hotel.

"We..."

"Don't even think about it, the third floor is Boss Chu's private area, we can't go up."

"What do we do then?"

This big crowd would be a sitting duck if they couldn't enter the hotel, easily attracting zombies with their scent.

They could breathe a bit easier now due to some protective effect the hotel had against zombies.

But this effect was time-limited, and it would eventually wear off.

It was just bad luck that they encountered a zombie horde.

"Why not go in?"

"Yeah, we found a place without a zombie crowd with great difficulty."

"You brought us here yet left us unsettled, what kind of thing is this?"

"What nonsense, they already did well taking us away from the zombie horde. Do you expect them to take care of you for life?"

...

There was all sorts of talking in the crowd, Shen Zhigui and the others could hear the ungrateful comments, but there were people speaking up for them in rebuttal too.

To be honest, Shen Zhigui and his group's feelings were quite mixed at this moment.

"Wait, I think I see lights on the second floor!"

Xie Silin originally wanted to glance at the second floor, thinking they might get lucky and catch Chu Jiangyue up at night.

Unexpectedly, the lights on the second floor really came on.

Shen Zhigui and the others also looked towards the stairs on the second floor and sure enough, they saw light.

Soon, they saw Chu Jiangyue fully clad, coming down with a big fisherman's hat on her head.

"You really picked a great time to come back, didn't you?"

Even though they brought her customers, being woken up in the middle of the night still left Chu Jiangyue quite irritated.

She could only grab Little Fox and squeeze it when there was no one around. After all, it's just a string of data, squeeze it as hard as you want and you can't break it.

But that doesn't mean Shen Zhigui and the others can evade responsibility.

"It was unexpected, we'll definitely be more careful next time."

Shen Zhigui also knew this timing was really awkward.

"Alright then, bring them in. Have them line up, tell them what to do yourselves."

Chu Jiangyue yawned as she opened the hotel doors, then slowly walked inside to the counter.

Knowing they were in the wrong, Shen Zhigui and his group didn't comment on Chu Jiangyue's obvious laziness, they autonomously started maintaining order, leaving one person at the front to teach people how to exchange copper coins.

"We have to use our own stuff to recharge for a card? Aren't you guys some kind of scam group?"

Chu Jiangyue glanced at the person questioning, their cautiousness was there, but the brains were not quite enough.

"At a time like this, what point would there be for us to scam you? Even the overfed wouldn't be so idle.

If you think something's fishy, you can leave now, we won't force you."

Exhausted from the journey and having heard the earlier complaints, waiting for Boss Chu to open the door, only to be accused of being a scam group, Xie Silin instantly felt no obligation to serve them.

Really, no good deed goes unpunished.

"I... I didn't mean it like that..."

Not expecting Xie Silin's comment telling them to leave, the questioning person had no desire to leave after struggling to make it there.

Chu Jiangyue didn't mind this minor incident, watching the task tally grow, her mood was gradually lifting from gloomy to bright.

"Boss, I saw outside it's written you're a hotel?"

Finally, someone noticed the key issue.

Chu Jiangyue looked up and nodded slightly at the inquirer, "Yes, if you want to stay, get an Identity Card and then line up here."

Hearing Chu Jiangyue, many people started lining up automatically.

"Do you really sell buns?"

Honestly, as the apocalypse came suddenly, many homes hadn't stockpiled food, and a lot of folks hadn't had a decent meal in days.

Buns are staple food in the north.

"Of course, what's the point of lying There's no copper coins in it."

Raising her hand, Chu Jiangyue gestured, and a virtual screen appeared at the front desk, Xie Silin went up to teach people how to buy.

After paying, the buns or steamed buns would appear right in front of them.

As for storage methods, that's something they have to consider on their own.
