A week later
Ruby was in her room busily learning her notes when she suddenly heard a knock on her door. Not thinking twice, she told the person to come in. But who would have thought that it was Christabel. She entered the room with extreme pride and looked around the room in disgust. Ruby was a but astonished to see her. She noticed Christabel disgusted face. Well her room wasn't a nice place to begin with. Her father made her move from her original room after Christabel and her family moved in. Christabel had insisted on staying in that room so her dad made her move out without second thoughts to another room. Then after her parents divorce, Layla persuaded her dad to make her move to another room since she wanted to keep her bags in that room. It was an absurd excuse to get her out if tge room but her dad foolishly agreed again. Sometimes she wondered if her dad had brains or his head is just empty. Eventually any room that, Ruby would move in, both Christabel and Layla had something to talk about until it was finally settled that she moved to the storeroom.
Ruby smirked at her expression and said
" What's wrong, judging from your expression, would you want to keep your clothes here "
Christabel retorted
" You bitch..."
Before she could finish, Ruby said
" Christabel, you are only 12 years but your mouth us full of foul words. I wonder what kind of animal you would become when you get the chance to grow up. But don't worry, I would protect your clothes for you if you want to move them here. I might even leave the room for your clothes again "
Christabel was infuriated by her words. She said
" Do I look like a begger to you. I just came here to tell you to stop meddling in my affairs "
Ruby stared at her as if she had 6 heads and said in disbelief
" No offense but frankly speaking, you are the most foolish person I have ever met in my life. Did you not attend to kindergarten or is your English teacher that bad. When did I possibly meddle in your affair? Shouldn't I be the one saying that "
Christabel became more infuriated by her words and was about to slap her when Ruby caught her hand in time in the air and said with chilly voice
" You do not qualify to touch me "
Then in a mocking smile, she said
" Do you really want to see my face. I don't mind I can give you a full view "
She left her hands harshly and acted like she was about to remove the mask from her face. Christabel was fuming and said in anger
" This does not ends here. I promise "
Then she took the book on Ruby's table and threw it away. Ruby said nothing as she felt itvwould be a waste of time. Slightly satisfied, Christabel tuned to go but unfortunately, she accidentally triped over the book she thrown away and fell down. Unlucky for her, her forehead hit on the edge of the cabinet so hard that she felt her head spin. She screamed in pain as blood trickled down the wound.
Ruby was stunned for a moment at the sudden turn of event and didn't know if she should be happy or sad. Just when she had come to her senses and was about to help her. Both her father and step mother entered the room with anxious expression. They quickly rushed to the pitiful Christabel on the ground. Ethan also came in after hearing the sound. Even some servants were outside the room. Mr Evans pulled Christabel into his arms and quickly called thier family doctor to come. He was about to ask was happened when Christabel said pitifully
" Oh dad, help me. I'm so scared, Ruby.... she removed her mask and showed me her face and the cruelly pushed me making my head hit the table. Dad, it hurts so much. I... just wanted to check on her but she... "
Mr Evans didn't want to listen anymore and took his daughter out of the room.
Layla without knowing what happened, walked towards Ruby in anger and before Ruby could process anything, Layla pushed her and she fell on the ground. She was about to stand up when Layla furiously held her hair and pulled off her mask then under the gaze of everyone, she viciously hit her head against the bed stand. Everything happened so fast that Ruby just felt her head hitting the bedstand every second. The terrible old wounds on her face opening again and blood gushed out. Everyone was terrified at the sight but Layla didn't care.
At this point, Ethan couldn't bear it any longer and rushed to his mother trying to pull her away from Ruby. Then he said
" Mom, what are you doing "
But his mom didn't mind him and kept on murmuring furiously
" How dare you hurt my child. You bitch, just like your mother "
Ruby felt dizzy and an excruciating pain on her head. She felt she was dying. Ethan who was usually composed panicked at the scene before him. With force he managed to pull his mom away. Being pulled away, Layla suddenly came to her senses and warned
" This is just the beginning. You want to kill my precious daughter. I will send you to meet your maker first "
Then she turned and walked away. Ruby on the other hand weakly fell to the ground and Ethan went to help her. He was shocked by the face he saw and was at loss of words. He panicked and quickly yelled at the servants
" What are you all standing there for? Help her. Do you need an invitation on this "
The servants also came to thier senses and rushed to check on Ruby. They stopped in thier tracks as they saw Ruby's face and silently stared at her. She looked horrible. Her face was already very bad and now it is covered in blood. Without wasting much time they took her to the bed and begun cleaning her wounds. One if them went to report to Mr Evans what had happened.
Ethan felt a heartache and with difficultly, he took out a smart phone from his pocket, went to WhatsApp and texted a number he had stored " Him ". He texted
" Hey, something bad happened today and I'm sorry but I couldn't protect her "
A reply came quickly
" What do you mean by that Ethan "
Ethan explained the incident on the phone to the other person but not in detail as he couldn't explain how his own mother had done such a thing. A quick reply came again
" You are so useless, you couldn't handle such a small task. How is she "
" Sincerely, she is in a bad shape " Ethan replied
A reprimanding reply came
" Ethan are you that useless, your job was to just protect her "
Ethan replied a bit angry
" Hey I'm not old enough ok, I'm still 12 years be glad that I'm doing this for you "
After that he turned of the phone knowing that the next reply would be harsh.
