Chapter 80 - Progress

Konohagakure no Sato:

Naruto walked out of the Konoha archives at 1:00 PM. Instead of heading to the training ground, his destination today was the ninja tool shop.

After a year of intense training, his old equipment was already worn out. Even though the training grounds provided all sorts of weights, they were communal property—not the specific gear Naruto needed for his personal regimen.

Naruto had already decided to get training weights like those Rock Lee wore during the Chunin Exams—the ones he famously removed during his fight against Gaara in the original canon.

Walking the streets of Konoha, Naruto was dressed in a white T-shirt and blue shorts. He wore his half-mask, allowing him to wander the streets and head to the specific ninja tool shop on the main street without facing any trouble regarding his identity as the fox Demon.

But as soon as Naruto entered the shop, he noticed a familiar customer already inside: Uchiha Sasuke.

Looking at Sasuke, who seemed busy checking the balance of shuriken on the counter, Naruto slowed his pace and thought to himself:

(... Forget it, I will just mind my own business first.)

Naruto approached the counter. The Avenger soon noticed Naruto's presence. Sasuke put down the kunai in his hand and looked at Naruto like a hawk, but he soon grumbled and looked elsewhere.

Naruto noticed Sasuke's movement and his gait

The shift in stance.

The angle of Sasuke's shoulders.

The way his attention never fully left.

(He's pretending not to care… but he's watching.)

Naruto reached the counter and addressed the middle-aged shopkeeper.

"Excuse me."

"Yes?"

"Do you have the training weights?" Naruto asked.

"You mean weights for training or the Training Weights?"

"The Training Weights for hands and feet... the band type," Naruto specified.

"Ah, we have those. What kind of weight would you like?"

"For weights around 25 kg each."

"Alright. Do you want them only for feet, or for hands and more?"

"Please explain."

"Yes, the bands come for feet, hands, and also a belt," the shopkeeper explained.

"Oh."

"There is also a weighted vest."

"Vest?" Naruto asked.

"Yes, it's a vest that has slots for the weights. You can adjust the weight accordingly."

"Hoh, so do I need to purchase the weights separately?"

"Yes, but if you take the whole set, it will be discounted."

"Is there anything else?"

"There is also a Sealing Weights set."

"Sealing?"

"Yes, they use seals for the weights. You can adjust the weight with the seals."

"How much will that be?"

"The whole weight set will cost 10,000 Ryo."

".... What about the Sealing one?" Naruto asked.

"50,000 Ryo."

"For the sealing type, why does it sound so cheap?"

"Haha! In the end, it's not something dangerous or shinobi-type gear. In the end, it's just training gear."

"I would like the vest to be one that can also be used to train daily without any inconvenience," Naruto decided.

"Haha, that's no problem, but the vest will cost 3,000 Ryo more."

"Alright then, please give me a set."

"Alrigh—"

The shopkeeper and Naruto's conversation was cut short by the Avenger as Sasuke spoke up.

"One set for me too."

The shopkeeper nodded, reaching into the display to pull out the high-grade sealing sets. As they waited, Naruto turned his head slightly toward Sasuke. His gaze was steady, lacking the childish rivalry of the past.

"You should think twice, Sasuke," Naruto said, his voice carrying a new layer of maturity.

"This isn't just about training . You need to have Body and chakra stability before moving onto weighted sealing training. If your body isn't ready for a 25 kg base, the WEIGHT & seals will only mess up your muscle growth and slow your real speed down."

Sasuke's eyes narrowed, his fingers twitching over the counter.

"I don't need your concern , My body is more than ready and I'm not going to let you pull ahead because I was 'cautious'."

"I'm not telling you to be cautious, I'm telling you to be smart," Naruto replied calmly.

"Why don't we head to the training grounds together? We can spar and see if you can actually maintain your form under that much pressure. It's better to find your limits with a partner than to collapse alone."

Sasuke gripped the newly placed box on the counter, his knuckles turning white. "I don't train with others, and I certainly don't need a partner to tell me my limits. Stay out of my way."

Without waiting for another word, Sasuke threw his Ryo on the counter, grabbed his set, and walked out of the shop in a stiff, prideful stride.

Naruto sighed, shaking his head as he handed over his own payment. "He's still as stubborn as ever."

"Kids these days," the shopkeeper muttered, counting the money. "Good luck with those seals, kid. You're gonna need it."

After Sasuke's stiff departure, the shop door clicked shut, leaving Naruto alone with the middle-aged man.

Naruto watched the door for a second longer before remembering something crucial. He turned back to the counter, his expression curious.

"So," Naruto asked, "how much weight does a single Seal Band actually have?"

The shopkeeper leaned back, crossing his arms with a knowing smirk. "Oh, they're versatile. They can go from 10 kg all the way up to 100 kg."

Naruto's eyebrows shot up behind his mask. "In each one?"

"For the legs, hands, and the belt," the man nodded.

"And the vest?"

"That can go up to 300 kg," the shopkeeper replied casually, as if he weren't describing the weight of a small boulder.

"Hoh..." Naruto took a moment to process the math. If he maxed out every piece of equipment, he'd be carrying over half a ton. "Is there anything else you need to advise?"

The shopkeeper rubbed his chin thoughtfully. ".....hmmm, you can still use other physical weights together with them and train some more if the gravity seals aren't enough for you."

Hearing the shopkeeper's words, Naruto's eyes twitched. The idea of adding physical iron on top of a 300 kg gravity seal was borderline suicidal for anyone without monstrous stamina. He sighed and handed over the stack of bills.

"Here," Naruto said.

"Thank you, thank you," the man chirped, tucking the money away. "Now, let me tell you how to activate and calibrate the seal, kiddo."

Naruto paused, his hand hovering over the box. ".....You didn't tell him though," he noted, gesturing toward the door Sasuke had just exited.

The shopkeeper's friendly demeanor hardened for a split second, and he gave a dismissive wave of his hand.

"Hah! And why would I waste my breath on arrogant bastards? If he thinks he's too good to ask for instructions, he can figure out how to unlock the gravity anchors on his own time."

Naruto stared at the man in silence, feeling a strange mix of pity for Sasuke and amusement at the shopkeeper's bluntness. "..."

"Alright," the man said, pulling one of the bands toward him and pointing to a specific series of kanji. "Let's start with this hand-type one. You need to pulse your chakra into this specific focal point..."

Naruto listened intently, memorizing the flow. He knew that without this specific knowledge, Sasuke was in for a very frustrating—and very heavy—walk home.

-------------------------------------------

Naruto took his heavy package and stepped out of the shop, the afternoon sun hitting his mask.

Naruto headed towards his own training ground .Naruto sat down on a mossy rock and began unboxing the gear.

He unpacked the gear—four bands, a belt, and the sleek vest.

He strapped the bands tightly around his wrists and ankles, then pulled the weighted vest over his T-shirt. The material was high-quality, embedded with intricate storage and gravity formulas.

"Alright," Naruto whispered, focusing his mind. "Let's see what 20 kg per limb actually feels like."

Remembering the shopkeeper's instructions, he focused a precise needle of chakra into the focal point of the left wristband.

"Release," he whispered.

Clang.

The sound wasn't physical, but Naruto felt it in his bones. It felt as if the air itself had turned into lead. His arms were suddenly yanked toward the ground by an invisible force.

Naruto gritted his teeth, his muscles bulging as he forced his hands back up to his waist. Then, he activated the ankle bands , The Belt and the vest.

( 120 Kg weight is this much .....what will happen when everything is at full ?? )

The total weight hit him like a falling boulder. Naruto's knees buckled, and he nearly face-planted into the dirt.

"Damn..." Naruto gasped, his breath hitching. "This is... much more than just carrying iron."

The sealing weights didn't just add mass; they created a constant gravitational pull that fought against his every movement. Even his internal organs felt the shift

( Alright Great Sage .....help me )

Naruto closed his eyes, focusing on his chakra network. To move effectively, he had to coat his joints in a thin layer of chakra to act as a lubricant against the crushing pressure.

Slowly, painfully, Naruto forced himself to stand upright.

Step one: Balance.

Step two: Movement.

He took a single step forward. His foot hit the ground with a heavy thud, cracking the dry earth beneath his sandal. He was sweating profusely within minutes, his white T-shirt beginning to cling to his back.

Naruto began a series of basic katas. Every punch felt like he was swinging through deep water. Every kick threatened to pull him off balance and send him sprawling.

But as Naruto moved, he started to understand what he had told Sasuke: this wasn't just about strength. It was about efficiency. If he wasted even a drop of energy, the weights would win.

( I can see why Lee is so fast, ) Naruto thought, wiping sweat from his eyes.

( If I can get to the point where I can move like a shadow while wearing these, my base speed will be monstrous. )

He spent the next three hours in that clearing. By the end of it, he wasn't just tired; his chakra reserves were noticeably drained from the constant stabilization. He sat back down, his chest heaving, and looked at the seals on his wrist

Every breath required effort; his lungs felt like they were being squeezed by a giant's hand. He stood there, trembling, his legs slightly bent as he fought just to remain upright.

"One day," Naruto breathed, "I'll be able to run in these without even feeling them."

As Naruto practiced slow, deliberate movements to calibrate his chakra flow, he couldn't help but think of Sasuke.

Somewhere in the village, the "Avenger" was likely fuming. Without the shopkeeper's instructions on the focal points, Sasuke would be trying to force his chakra into the entire seal array.

It wouldn't just be heavy; it would be erratic. If Sasuke pushed too hard, the seals might lock up entirely, pinning him to the ground in a very public, very embarrassing display of "arrogance."

Naruto wiped a bead of sweat from his chin, a small, wry smile forming under his mask. "He wanted to do it his own way. I hope his pride can lift 50 kilos of dead weight."

Naruto didn't jump into sparring or running. Instead, he started with the most basic Academy-style punch.

Extend. Retract. Stabilize.

Naruto did it a hundred times. Then a hundred more. The sun began to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows through the trees.

His white T-shirt was now completely soaked, and his chakra reserves were being taxed just to keep his posture straight.

His Dynamic Vision Lv3 caught the slight tremble in his own hands as they dropped. He felt the crushing pressure, but his Sharp Mind kept him from panicking. He adjusted his stance, utilizing Inner Strength to lock his bones into a stable position

Naruto stood up, his breathing heavy. His Hound's Senses picked up the rustle of leaves nearby, but he ignored it, focusing on his internal state.

Great Sage immediately kicked in, creating a combat simulation in his mind. It projected a phantom version of his body, showing him exactly how the 20 kg of gravitational force would affect his Leaf Taijutsu form.

After an hour, Naruto paused. He could feel his Aqua Reservoir keeping his hydration levels stable and his Glutton skill demanding fuel for the massive calorie burn. He took a moment to look at his hands.

( If Sasuke is trying this without Great Sage to balance the chakra distribution... he's in for a disaster, ) Naruto thought.

He channeled a small amount of Medical Ninjutsu, specifically Diagnosis, to check his own muscle fibers for tearing.

Satisfied that his Growth Skills were keeping pace with the strain, he pushed harder. He began to practice the Body Flicker Jutsu, trying to overcome the "anchor" effect of the seals.

As the sun began to set, Naruto stood in the center of the clearing, the earth around him cracked from the force of his weighted footsteps. Thanks to Lone Wolf Lv3, his focus actually intensified the longer he trained in isolation.

Just as Naruto was settling into a rhythm, his Hound's Senses and Keen Eye caught a flicker of movement at the edge of the clearing.

Naruto didn't drop his guard, but he slowed his movements as a figure stepped out from the shadows of the ancient trees.

"What are you doing, Naruto?"

The voice was steady and familiar. Naruto turned, the weighted vest creaking slightly with the movement, to see a man leaning against a thick oak.

"Hattori Sensei! You are back!" Naruto exclaimed, a genuine flash of relief crossing his face beneath the mask.

Hattori walked forward, his eyes narrowing at the specific glow of the sealing bands. Even without the specialized knowledge Naruto possessed, a seasoned shinobi like Hattori could recognize the high-grade hum of gravity seals.

"I am," Hattori replied, his gaze dropping to the seals.

"I see you've moved past basic iron..... sealing bands? That's a steep climb, even for someone with your reserves."

Naruto adjusted his stance. Internally, Great Sage was already running a simulation of his current physical state, helping him maintain a composed posture despite the crushing weight.

"The standard equipment wasn't cutting it anymore, Sensei," Naruto said, his Acting skill keeping his voice from straining.

"I needed something that challenges my chakra control and my physical limits at the same time."

Hattori stepped closer, inspecting the seals. From his perspective, Naruto just seemed to have an incredible natural intuition for fuinjutsu. "You calibrated these yourself? The flow is remarkably stable for a first try."

"The shopkeeper gave me some pointers," Naruto replied. He used his MindHub to organize the shopkeeper's advice and his own observations, presenting a perfectly logical explanation.

" But I'll admit... it's heavy."

Hattori chuckled, a dry sound. "It should be. Most Chunin wouldn't touch a full set of those without a supervisor , It's impressive that you have come this far but don't let your ambition outpace your recovery. If you burn out your coils, all this training will be for nothing."

Hattori looked around the clearing, noting the precision of the training marks around the training ground

"seeing you here... it seems you've taken your training quite seriously this year. Tell me, have you tried moving at full speed with those active yet?"

Naruto shook his head. "Just basic forms and Leaf Taijutsu for now. I was just about to try a Body Flicker."

"Wait," Hattori advised, his expression turning serious. "Don't rush the momentum. If you flicker with that much gravitational mass without the right chakra distribution, you'll tear your hamstrings right off the bone. remeber the precautions —steady output, no sudden spikes."

Hattori straightened up. "Since I'm back, let's see how you hold up. I'll throw some practice blunt-kunai, and you dodge. No offensive Jutsu—just you and the weights."

Naruto centered himself. Deep inside, Great Sage began calculating trajectories and wind resistance, while Naruto prepared to move his burdened body.
