Chapter 33 - when it hurts

Taejoon's eyes blazed with a feral intensity as he launched himself at Han again, his movements a blur. Han tried to defend himself, but Taejoon's strength was overwhelming. They clashed, their bodies crashing to the ground in a tangle of limbs.

Han tried to fight back, landing a few hits, but Taejoon's grip was like a vice. He pinned Han down, his hands closing around his throat. Han's eyes widened in alarm as he struggled to breathe. "Taejoon, stop it!" he choked out.

But Taejoon wasn't listening. A dark aura seemed to shroud him, blocking out everything except the primal urge driving him. Han's vision started to blur as he felt his air supply cut off.

Desperate, Han tried to tap into his own powers – both his vampire and werewolf sides – but it was like hitting a brick wall. Taejoon's grip was unyielding, and Han's strength was no match for the monster Taejoon had become.

Taejoon's fangs sank deep into Han's neck, and Han's scream echoed through the night, a mix of pain and rage. The agony was intense, but it sparked something primal within Han – he tapped into his werewolf strength, and with a roar, he pushed Taejoon off him.

Han stumbled back, his hand flying to his neck as he gasped for air. Blood dripped from the wound, staining his shirt. His eyes blazed with a mix of pain and fury as he looked around for Taejoon.

But Taejoon was gone.

The alleyway was empty, the only signs of the struggle the unconscious bodies of the men Taejoon had attacked earlier. Han's chest heaved as he struggled to process what had just happened. What was happening to Taejoon?

Han's eyes narrowed, a plan forming in his mind. He would find Taejoon, and he would get answers before he could think further he collapse on the ground losing consciousness

The next day morning

Han's eyes fluttered open, and he groaned, his neck throbbing with pain. He was in an unfamiliar room, surrounded by thick stone walls and dim candlelight. An old lady sat beside him, her eyes kind and wise.

"Who are you? Where am I?" Han asked weakly, trying to sit up.

The lady gestured for him to stay down. "Easy, my child. You're still hurt. You're in the werewolf castle."

Han nodded, wittingly sitting up properly. "I don't understand... why would Taejoon attack me?"

The lady sighed. "That wasn't Taejoon, my child."

Han's brow furrowed. "It was. I saw him clearly..."

The lady smiled softly. "I meant he wasn't himself. I'm a great witch, so I can see everything."

Han's eyes narrowed. "So what happened to Taejoon?"

"When Taejoon reincarnated, he reincarnated with two souls – his and Mako's. Mako died, or so everyone believed. But Mako wasn't just an ordinary person. He was a supreme leader, just like you and Taejoon, but he refused to be good and chose evil."

Han's worry spiked. "So what now?"

"Mako's spirit is trying to take over Taejoon's body. If that happens, you and others won't be able to stop him. His powers combined with Taejoon's will be unstoppable."

Han's jaw set. "Then I must find a way to stop him."

The lady nodded. "Yes, but right now, your body is poisoned."

Han's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"

"The fight yesterday... Mako was in control of Taejoon's body, and he poisoned you through that bite."

Han's eyes locked onto the lady's, fear creeping into his voice. "Am I going to die?"

The lady's expression was somber. "Yes. But there's a way you can prevent it from happening."

Han's grip on hope was tenuous, but he latched onto it. "How?"

The lady's eyes sparkled with a hint of mystery. "You must go to the Land of the Dead and eat a magical apple from the Tree of Life."

Han's brow furrowed. "How will I be able to go there?"

The lady raised her hand, and a faint glow emanated from it. "I'll use my magic to send you there. But first, you must be crowned."

Han's eyes widened in understanding. "The gatekeeper won't let me pass otherwise."

The lady nodded. "Exactly. You must be recognized as a true leader."

Han's jaw set. "I'll do it. I'll be back when I'm ready."

The lady smiled, and with a wave of her hand, Han felt himself being pulled through space and time. He opened his eyes to find himself back in his home, the memories of the conversation etched vividly in his mind.
